Adelbert Steiner - what a guy

Yeah i found Steiner to be pretty annoying i mean in the first and second CD the only thing he does is "butt kissing" Garnet and telling everyone that he as to protect her.:huh:

After the third CD he kind of calms down!
 
I dunno. He is annoying, but I'd say Eiko is more annoying, because near the ending, Steiner says some heroic lines, where as Eiko is still crushing over Zidane. That short annoying midget.
 
Steiner does start out being very annoying to the other characters but during the course of the game he changes. His world is being turned upside down around him and it takes time for him to adjust - remember that for a good portion of the game the threat is coming from the very person he had come to trust and swear allegiance to. He truly wants to do the right thing, but his idea of "the right thing" is so set in stone at the start of the game that when he starts to find out that he might be wrong he goes into denial. When he finds out that Brahne, who he has sworn allegiance to, is behind many of the events in the first two discs, it's devestating for him.
Steiner has good reasons to be as he is.
 
I remember getting irritated with him, not only his constant yelling about the princess, but that damn armour clanking around...Especially when he had a temper tantrum and jumped. >.< After he began to loosen up a little though I respected him for his sense of right and wrong, as Gaia said above. If he wasn't how he was, there wouldn't be as much comedy either. It's fun to see how Zidane and he interact, atleast for me. Steiner's a good guy, I like him.

Steiner was actually one of my favorite characters from FFIX, I'd say Eiko, Quina, and Amarant were definitely more annoying.. plus they aren't as good in battle anyway. In the first two discs, Steiner is trying to uphold his duty by protecting the princess with his life, so it makes sense that he'd react the way he did. Imagine if you had a younger sibling with you, and you were supposed to be watching it. Would you just stay calm, and sit by and watch as it runs off with some other kid, who's a known troublemaker, and goes off and gets in to fights with monsters, because they're confused about their life? Steiner was only doing what he was told to do, even if it meant running around yelling "PRINCESS!!!" whenever she ran off somewhere new.

Steiner was also comical, he would do stupid stuff from time to time, but whenever it came time for battle, he would be right there in his clinky-clanky armor, ready to kick butt.

So no, I do NOT think that he is annoying, on the contrary, I think he's one of the best characters in the game.
 
So many of the people I speak to just didn't have the time of day for Steiner, I seriously can't see why. I thought he was hilarious throughout the game and I always had him in my team too. What are your thoughts on the chap? Personally I believe the game wouldn't have been the same without him.:)
 
Rite back at ya. steiner was brilliant. He added so much humour to the storyline. The guy was such a fool throughout most of the game until the end where he seemed to appreciate zidane for who he was, instead of just thinking of him as a petty thief.
 
He just did my head in, he was practically up Vivis arse, he could only do certain attacks with Vivi in the line up and he just went on too much

Got right up my nose he did
 
I find him kinda...scary :ohshit:

But I actually think he was a good guy really just doing what he thought was best, even if his judgment was wrong in the end. And he can be pretty powerful without Vivi, I have him in my final line up every time :)
 
He always was in my main group,except for the times he or any other character weren't available.Cannot understand why people hate him.

I loved the parts when he argued with Zidane,they were funny.
 
I liked Stenier he had some personality,was funny especially with the Zidane scenes,and I love how he has some spunk. :P I hope he gets hes own game he really deserves it. ^_^
 
Steiner is really cool guy.He gave alot to the game.The arguing between him and Zidane were really great too ;)He was always in my party.
 
i thought that guy was hilarious especially when he crashes in the building and u see his iron sneakers
 
I liked Steiner, he was great in battle and his character really develops. First you see how he ignorantly follows the Queen, and then his whole world just shatters. He transformed from being annoying and whiny to pretty cool. He's always in my final party too ^^

Without Steiner who the hell would Zidane call "Rusty"? XD

Steiner made the game entertianing, his constant remarks regarding Zidane being a bandit, or a theif kept me entertained. He was always in my party, except for the time when Garnet ran away from Lindblum :P.

Im working on getting him Excalibur 2, the best I got him last time was the Ultima Sword, yeah i know pathetic.

At the start, I wasn't a fan. He wore eye make up, was very annoying and silly, which proved a problem as i like fighting with knights/swordmains and using them as my tanks.

but as the game progressed, i enjoyed the humour he provided, and playing it again, i makes me laugh every time he shakes his fists at zidane!

And as said before i like his iron trainers!
 
I absolutely loved Steiner. I thought he was very cute and his antics brought a smile to my face. It was really sweet to see his devotion to his princess and to Alexandria. Good ol' Rusty was one of the main characters I enjoyed the most. A knight with a heart of gold - the best way to describe him. ;)
 
Well i personally find him pretty annoying, always walking around calling Zidane a thief, a rogue and whatever...and Garnet princess this and princess that, i mean i already understood she is a princess but if it's for her own safety not to call her princess then don't call her princess idiot. I easily put him on my top 10 of most annoying final fantasy characters.

But in all fairness he was one of the most useful characters in terms of battle.
