I wouldn't say so. Those festivals appeal to certain people. I wouldn't say it's weird to not be one of them.

It just seems as if everyone else in Britain talks about them all of the time, as if they are THE thing to go to every year.

There's no guarantee that I'd like the music, or even be able to see the bands from where I'd be sitting / standing / dying.

That said, Matt Smith remixing Doctor Who was badass, but I could watch that from the comfort of Youtube.

That's why you go to a festival where you like the line-up. And half of the experience is discovering new bands.
