This new series planned to be three parts long and includes some behind the scenes footage for the first time about final fantasy’s creation.

Narrated by Ali Hillis, (the voice of Lightning) this video shows Lightning Returns behind the scenes. The series goes through Final fantasy's success as a game series, and the story of FF XIII, to show how the final game will play out.

The video has some spoilers as usual, so watch at your own risk.

Interestingly, the video shows Lightning's previous friends, and about who dies or lives. It is highly possible that some of her friends will die in Lightning Returns: FF XIII.

I thought the video was really interesting. This game looks bigger than it was planned to be, since Square Enix are perfectly alright with showing some spoilers it seems.

It looked very impressive. Obviously still felt like they were on their high horse when it came to the trilogy and action rpg innovation??????? Really??? I mean there's not much room to innovate in such a way where they can call it "innovation". Its like innovating abstract, there's so much freedom, its not worth calling anything new innovation.

Still game looks good and it seems their still calling out to previous FF fans since they failed in the last 2

I watched this video earlier and I thought it was good insight in how they operate and look forward to the next 2 parts. I feel in terms of LR:FFXIII that is has come a long way in terms of looking the better game. I mean I am in the minority that is ok with the FFXIII saga and I was looking forward to this one with its initial concept. But since the gamescom trailer and latest news it looks like since the delay the game has really come into its own and has become a more interesting RPG game. Yeah this is all speculation on what the final product could be but from what has been sadly lately I am looking forward to it.

No doubt its a quality game when it comes to mechanics. But overall game by game perspective, it just sort of throws up on brevious games. I see serah and noel "XIII-2" throwing up on XIII version of Lightning while a billion outfits of Lightning throwing up Sera and Noel simultaeniously.

XIII has definitely gone niche, but this video tries to sell it as "innovating". I will play this game and I don't doubt this game will be entertaining and fun, but its also trying to sell to fans who abandoned XIII, and to that makes me question a lot. We see characters returning and they expect us to take with ease????

They said the story is simple and that's definitely a red flag for a game that wraps it all up.

I'm glad they're making these videos. Lightning Returns was really lost on me there for a while, but after Gamescom and Part 1 of this series it's actually starting to look like something I will buy. There were still a few comments in there that made me cringe though, like "...remains on the leading edge of action RPG innovation". Dissidia aside, this is the first FF game to be an action RPG at all. How can the series 'remain' to be something it's just now giving a shot? That line seemed to pretty much be disregarding the series' history, but I don't mean or want to read into it too much. And there's the mention of the mythology being so deep that three games were required to tell it all. XIII sure didn't make it look that way--it ended pretty well. XIII-2 had to dig up old problems to keep the story going. And I really like XIII and XIII-2, so don't get me wrong, but that little fact of storytelling has always bother me.

Overall though it really does look like SE is trying to turn Lightning Returns into a respectable entry for the series. Props to them for that, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing how this game turns out.
