The current version of Final Fantasy XIV will cease to exist as of November 11th.

If it weren’t anymore obvious, the FFXIV launcher was updated today with a counter that ends on that very day. It has since been discovered that a new trailer will go up around the same time entitled “End of an Era.” As of now the page linking to the trailer reveal has not gone live.

The closing of FFXIV’s version 1.0 marks a shifting milestone. Alpha testing has already begun for A Realm Reborn for users in Japan, and is expected to span to other territories within the next several weeks. Following that, the PC beta test will begin along with the PS3 beta test. Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 is scheduled to fully release by Q1 2013, and rightly so – it seems on track to do just that.

I heard many ppl wont play it if its p2p.
I dont know I also like f2p myself and I would gladly support premium purchases/microtransactions. Screw p2p.

I might try it out on ps3 but we also have to pay for the hard copy itself...or it can be aquired digitally which would take ages to dl especially wifi.

I was going to pick this up when it started but I have so many games right now. I need to plow through some of them first before I make any commitments with MMO's

You still have a few months to finish off those games. ;D

Regarding the whole P2P debate that I see popping up in other threads - Overall, I don't mind paying a monthly subscription if the game exceeds (or at least meets) my expectations. If it's an enjoyable game that I end up playing at least 10~20hours per week, why not? I pay monthly for NetFlix (even when I don't always use it to it's fullest potential some months), I'm going to start paying monthly for GameFly (even though I can only take out 1 game at a time)... As long as I'm getting a great service, I guess I'm not the type of gamer to complain about monthly fees.

[[ For instance, when my dad stopped paying for my FFXI account several years ago, I started paying for it myself when I was old enough to have my own debit card, lol. && That totaled to $15-17 per month 'cause of my numerous characters/content IDs. xD ]]

However, I can totally understand how P2P can be a turn off for people who feel that the full retail price of a game is more than enough of an investment. Perhaps if the service fees totaled $8~10 a month, it would be more appealing? Who knows.

I have over 14 games, mainly RPG's, plus on top of work, I doubt Ill be done by then.

I might pick this up and see how it is, I have been tempted to pick up FFXI from steam recently... but I just never had played MMO's enough to pay into one you know... but I would LOVE to get into the ps3 beta... I hope that Playstation Plus members get like access without signing up or something :O
