Launching a new website for Japanese audiences, Square Enix and GREE announce today a new Final Fantasy-themed social game for Japan. GREE is a social media company based in Japan, with a focus on mobage or “mobile games”. The Final Fantasy game is largely a card-based battle system as seen in the images below, and will be compatible with iOS 4 (iPad 2 and 3) and Android 2.2/3.x. Registration for the social mobage is now underway in Japan.

I'd be willing to try this game out. I've played other mobile games for the Android && I've had some positive experiences. I think card games are easy enough to create as a phone game, but they can also get a tad bit boring for me... ^^; Like with Rage of Bahamut. Very cool card-game, but I couldn't keep up with it.

I'm guessing that this game will be in Japanese for awhile, but it may be simple enough to play. :p Until next month!

Doesnt look very interesting to me. I like card games but doesnt seem the least bit creative

Chanteru

I still play Rage of Bahamut with Soulcorruptor and we still active. A lot has changed though.
You sure this game will be part of MOBAGE? MOBAGE is a company not a term if im not mistaken. :hmmm:

Well chances are I would try it out. I heard Guardian Cross (made by SE) is very popular as well but not available on Android damnit.
Judging by the lame artwork provided in the screenshots I dont think I would be an avid player.

SE is fucking lazy. If they actually made totally new artwork it would be awesome but this rehashed bullshit. sigh.

The artwork isn't the most appealing or unique (considering it's just a compilation of older art work), but I think the idea of this being a "social game" intrigues me- whatever that is supposed to mean. :p It may initially look like crap 'cause most card games (I think) should put a good amount of effort in designing the cards since that's the focus of the game, but who knows?

I'll check it out anyhow 'cause I'm curious. If it's a lame attempt at a card game, I'll be sure to report back here to confirm everyone's thoughts. xD I hope to find something redeeming about it though, since it's been awhile since I played a fun Android game.

ultimadream - Hey, I resent that! xD; Theatrhythm was a very fun game to play && there's still DLC being released for it. (I say it "was fun" because playing the same old tracks would get boring after a few months of straight play. Any game would become less fun after awhile) Just because it's a music game doesn't mean it was merely a means of exploiting the series. I've mentioned this elsewhere, but I view it more as a tribute to the FF music. ^^

Although I agree with you on Dimensions and perhaps this cell phone game as well 'cause it isn't the definition of "hard work and innovation." It is pretty lazy and easy. xD I wouldn't want another Dissidia to be honest, 'cause I don't see how much different they could make it. Not much has changed within the FF universe in terms of characters. Unless they'd add Serah and Noel. xD

Oh my this is a rape of the franchise. I have noticed more and more that the franchises name had been exploited. First it was that Dimensions nonsense. Then a music game on a 3DS of all things and now this mobile tripe. All the artwork from the screenshots is just recycled from Dissidia - A celebration of the franchise done right! Give us a Dissidia for the Vita or PS3 and stop wasting our time with this nonsense.

Dissidia was good on PSP.

Also, i think it goes well with the blanace of original 8-16 bit characters with full almost-CG-like characters. Also, Dimensions was bound to comeeven if it wasn't part of ff 25th anniversary. as its technically 2 years older than what it is.
