[22/12] Rumor of FFXV Announcement at E3 2012

he Final Fantasy franchise is undoubtedly a popular one, although some might argue that Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV MMORPG was a bit of a disaster plagued with bugs and whatnot. Well it looks like Square Enix could be attempting to redeem themselves and the Final Fantasy franchise with a possible Final Fantasy XV that some are expecting to be announced at E3 2012.
This piece of rumor was discovered in the rumor section (rather appropriate we feel) of the latest issue of GamesMaster UK. The rumor stated that the game would be announced at a special Square Enix E3 2012 press conference and that the game would be seeing a launch across multiple platforms. This includes the PC, Nintendo’s Wii U, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360.
Seeing Final Fantasy on the Wii U is not really a huge stretch as Square Enix’s producer, Yoshinori Kitase, did express interest in developing the game for Nintendo’s upcoming gaming platform.
As exciting as this piece of news sounds, especially to Final Fantasy fans, we can’t find any news that would corroborate with this particular rumor, so it is highly suggested that you take this with large doses of salt for now until something a bit more concrete surfaces.

Final Fantasy died after X. XI, XII, XIII and XIV have all been woeful excuses for games.

A Final Fantasy XV announcement wouldn't be surprising, Final Fantasy XIV has been released for PC and has been in development for the PS3 for some time now so they need to move on in their main IP.

Anyway, I doubt it. Versus is still nowhere near out yet, and I doubt that they will begin to release any information about their next console project already. Gone are the days (hopefully) when they would announce half a dozen new titles while the cart is still put before the horse.

Hopefully XV can break the cycle of horrible excuses for FF games? xD. XI -> XII -> XIII -> XIV... none of those deserve the title of Final Fantasy, imo. Of course you guys can disagree all you want.

FFXV on the WiiU is something I always speculated about. I posted some rumours about this game as well in the general news thread.

Rumours is news too and it may spark conversations. Multiplatform aspect of it scares me a bit though. Well since Versus took ages and is still taking ages, I dont see FFXV coming any time soon.

Perhaps 2015. SE claims on developing games much faster pff yeah right.

I don't think this will be true...

THey have FFXIII-3, FFVersus, KHBBS Volume 2 or whatever, Final Fantasy X HD, Final Fantasy XIV still coming to the PS3, Dragon Quest X Online, so I don't think we will hear anything big from them about FFXV this next year... or 2013, maybe 2014... If they announce anything new, My guess is on another KH game, or Deus Ex 2 probably or a game that Eidos is making or will be making.

bah, a bad rumor I don't see as being true.
I do beleive there will be an announcement about Versus and about FFX HD as well but nothing about FFXV.

I still have little hope for Square. I mean, I love the final fantasy series as much as the next guy/girl, but unless they can pull something out of their failing asses, I think its safe to say that the series itself is gonna die out.

Now, about that XIII-3...

At E3 Final Fantasy Versus 13 will be announced for an autumn 2012 release in North America and announced to be renamed Final Fantasy XV. This was rumoured before, and honestly they'd be stupid not to just call it XV and be done with it.

You really can't say that a game isn't Final Fantasy when the IP has changed so much since the beginning. If you were to go that far, you could say anything after the original FFIII isn't FF and so on. XIII wasn't like all other FF games, and may have been a step in the wrong direction in some points, but at least we weren't getting the exact thing for the thirteenth time. XII was great, different, and a step in the right direction. XIII-2 seems to be fixing a lot of what XIII lacked and I may actually end up getting it. XI and XIV I don't include because I rarely get into MMOs and they don't interest me in the slightest. A XV would be nice, and hopefully they can do something they haven't done before and not make it really shitty.

If they announce anything new, My guess is on another KH game, or Deus Ex 2 probably or a game that Eidos is making or will be making.

There's already been a Deus Ex 2 That would be Deus Ex 4. And really, guys, you have to remember that publisher != developer Square Enix only develops probably about a third of the games they actually publish. Just because it has Square's name on it doesn't mean it's affected by this "curse."
