Final Fantasy Versus XIII nearly ready for real-time demo

Tetsuya Nomura has said the next time Final Fantasy Versus XIII is shown, it will finally be a live demonstration running on consumer hardware.

Previous trailers and demos have been rendered on development equipment, which is almost always well beyond what the box under your telly will produce.
The director and producer could not give a date for Final Fantasy Versus XIII’s next showing, but speaking to Famitsu, as translated by Andriasang, Nomura confirmed Square Enix would not be holding a January event to showcase its games, as it did in 2010.
Nomura said that cutscenes are split between real time and pre-rendered on a ratio of 7:3. He said a scene in which major characters Noctus and Stella meet has been switched to a pre-rendered video, because player control wouldn’t add much to the event.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII is expected on PlayStation 3. One day. Maybe. Probably.
While discussing the 1st production department’s activities, Nomura also confirmed that Final Fantasy X HD is in development, and said Kingdom Hearts 3D’s ending had been re-written in an unconventional way, and will sport a secret ending as well.

You mean January last year, and seeing as there hasn't been any word on a similar event this year, that was to be expected, but this means TGS 2012 may be when we realistically see more of the game. .___.

That's...very informative, I'm sure? I...don't really care that much about the visuals because I already knew there would be a shift in emphasis from CGI to real time and pre-rendered anyway, and I'm more interested in the gameplay, the game's lore and the world. I've never been that very interested when they go on about their visuals, how great they are and how they're going to do it. If you're going to tease something Nomura, tease us about something else?

Nomura also confirmed that Final Fantasy X HD is in development
...made by the 1st Production Department, which is also working on Versus. At supposedly the same time. Hmmm... :wacky:

This is definitely starting to sound like a bit of a remake now instead of a remaster, especially as they're handling it internally and all the talk about being early in development.

Also half of the story gonna be a DLC and the rest of the game is to copy a western mmo to sell well.

Poor. It's been nearly 6 years going on 7 after E3'2012 and they've only just decided to give a live demonstration on the actual hardware, I'm pretty sure at any given point over the last 2 years (at least) they could have taken a piece of the game and showed it as a live demonstration.

Kingdom Hearts 3D’s ending had been re-written in an unconventional way, and will sport a secret ending as well.

*insert inevitable announcement of a kingdom hearts sequel*

Final Fantasy Versus XIII (6+ years of development so far): A couple of CGI trailers, some unfinished graphics for in-game footage, only half of the revealed characters have voice actors.

A typical 6 year old child: Knows how to walk, communicate successfully with other human beings through voice, can use the bathroom on their own, knows basic mathematical skills, memorized the alphabet and can spell + various of other wonderful things.

Which should have been advanced the furthest by now? A child born at the same time as FFVersusXIII's announcement, or a simple videogame fully confirmed and announced 6 years ago? I think a 6 year old child is much more worth this amount of time than a videogame we know nothing about.

Ahh Versus... The game that will never be, and a hate that always was..

Is TGS the next event to occur? I thought E3 would be a lot sooner... springish summer? Anyway, this is stupid. Versus was released along side XIII back in 06/07, and it's been 2 years after XIII's released and it already has a sequel. What is the fucking hold up already? I was never hugely interested in this game to begin with but this is ridiculous.

Also, news on FFX's remaster is that it's meant to be a full blown remake, and not just a graphic update.
