Not to be outdone, Square Enix America has revealed their own Final Fantasy 25th anniversary plans for the beginning of September.

Those looking to attend PAX Prime from August 31st though September 2nd – which coincidentally is the same time period Japan will be enjoying their own Final Fantasy event – will be able to partake in a special anniversary presentation at the show.

Given that the event has been scheduled that way, it would be safe to expect a western reveal for the new Lightning Saga project.

“Experience Final Fantasy” event on Friday, August 31 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the ACT Theatre in Seattle (700 Union Street). The general public is invited to re-experience their most cherished Final Fantasy games through dozens of playable units that span multiple generations and participate in a series of commemorative activities and games for fans of the renowned franchise.

Near the end of the event at 7:30 p.m., fans will also have the opportunity to learn about the new details about the direction of Lightning’s story through a special video message from the esteemed creators Yoshinori Kitase (producer), Motomu Toriyama (director) and Isamu Kamikokuryo (art director).

I want news on some games Square!!! Not some event I will not be attending!!! (unless you bring it to NA... and not just San Fran and New York... Like go to every state!

I hope there will be news and things revealed other than FFXIII-3. Give us some updates on FFXHD, FFVersus, and maybe even announce FFXV (unlikely, but I'd rather see that than an announcement on yet another FFXIII sequel).

More info on lightning? I have a feeling we wont be hearing anything new. Other than that. Playing older ff games miht be fun as an event. I honestly was expecting final fantasy mystic quest remake. I know it was dumb.

eh I think that would be horrible about being open world BUT

I dont think this will be good. I mean, yeah being there might be fun, but the Japanese event is going to be the one everyone wants to see.

Well, everyone has their own opinion about things. If you enjoy running through hallways for 60+ hour be my guest, you can replay FFXIII.
Im not turning this into FFXIII - I believe Uncle Ulty said to stop acting childish with that BS so seriously, cut it out. I didnt bash your opinion, like you said, everyone has one. I just personally think it would be terrible. And your post has NOTHING to do with the thread at hand.

Back on topic: Im guessing these two events will be going on at the same time, so Im wondering if the Lightning saga info will be direct streaming from Japan?

So about this thread. I wonder which games they will have on display. I could actually see FFXI and FFXIV being more fun to play with a group of you had a bunch of people playing the game in the same area. I would think it could possibly get kind of boring playing one of the main entry games there. Though Dissidia could also be a pretty fun option

Plus stop the Final Fantasy 13 bashing guys ! This is a thread about the 25th anni for Final Fantasy in America ! Feel free to make a new thread about your complaints about FF13 or in the right threads for this kinda thing.

Bashing FF13 all over the place is actually kind of mean towards those who actually do like it and yes some prefer more linear games, is it a problem ? No it's just what they prefer when it comes to games.

On the topic on hand it sounds like fun. :jay:

Yea let's continue to drastically swerve off topic and then back on EVERY TIME WE POST.

I think having all the games there to play would be fun in some way because, even though it wouldn't make sense to play a whole long main-series game, being able to go to, say, the FFV section (If that's how it would work), allows you to meet other people that also like the game. Now, this might not be so helpful with games like FFVII, but for those that really like some of the less popular games, it could be rather fun.

As for the Lightning Saga deal, I hope they do present something that will give the XIII universe some justice so that SE moves on. Speaking of moving on, I hope FFVersusXIII finally gets a damn release date so they can consider Fabula Nova Crystallis complete or whatever. FFVersus does genuinely seem like a good game, so I hope that they at least provide more information on the game, even if a release date doesn't make it. Hey, perhaps the game is taking too long because it's open world, or something like it.

Transitioning into the open world issue with the FFXV, I think there cannot be a better thing than a true return to what made FF feel like FF for its first nine installments. FFX was a great game and all, but regardless of the new direction SE is talking about taking, I hope they do try to incorporate the traditional components that made FF successful. Oh and I hope they come up with better characters and a better lead for FFXV. Purposely emofying your lead because it'll roll best with your 'target demographic' is absolute BS. *Staring at FFXIII*

The only thing I would like to hear about, to be honest, is the progress of Versus. I find everything else to be moot, especially the continuation of Lightning's story.

Noctis is getting angry, people.

I agree, I guess. I'm not really planning to play XIII-3 if it does happen, anyways. I just want SE to move on and stop being dragged down by sub-series like Compilation, Ivalice and this Crystal Crap.

yeah they really do need to give SOMETHING about Versus out at this thing. I have a feeling its either going to come out right before the next consoles do OR it will be moved to the PS4 or something. Im really doubting they will say anything at this event though. Id say at best, new info at TGS.

What I'm starting to think is that although SE isn't talking much about Versus, they're currently working hard developing it. If this is the case, then I think at least a little coverage or update at this event would be nice, you know, to keep us feeling like it's something that's actually happening.

Besides that, I'm curious to see what else SE might throw at us, just curious. Unless it's a FFV or VI remake, in which case I would be enthralled.

Ff13 in a sense related to 25th anniversary. But it seems like too much band wagon on ff13. Although it doesnt seem lije theyre going all out on the wow factor. So an interview about a conflicting charactr.
A more interesting interviw would be the general view of ff evolution. What were thestepping zones in ff series that only the producers know? Or what direction couldve gone in the ff series but didnt?

I'd love to get details about plans for the future consoles....hopefully 6 years of game development won't turn into 12.

That would be cool if they could reveal any ideas they have for the future, maybe show off more of their future gen engine. Something like that.
