not all of them are cinematic scenes. And it is a rythm game you wont have much of a chance enjoying the nostalgia.Maybe you just don't like the game enough to see how addictive it can be? Of course it has the "I feel like playing the old games again" feel! That's the whole point of the game and if watching scenes and listening to the music from the old games doesn't make you feel like playing them again I don't know what will tbh.
The biggest defence is that you'll be playing it for at least months just for the style of game that it is...it doesn't need to be huge. Just look at Guitar Hero for a sec: barely any collectables and just songs (that I've heard of) and yet people continued to play that for yeeeears. Why? Because it's addictive. Simple as that.
And guitar hero is more enjoyable with the guitar control, and has additional unlockables such as characters, songs, guitars, alternate outfits, and recently make your own character.
