[02/09] Square Enix To Reveal Next Dragon Quest Game Next Week

On September 5th, Square Enix will reveal the next Dragon Quest game, the publisher has announced. The announcement will be streamed live through Square’s Ustream channel from 2:00 PM onward (Japan time).

Note that there’s no mention specifically of Dragon Quest X, in development for the Nintendo Wii. While it’s been quite some time since the game was announced, no details, screenshots or in-game footage have been shared thus far.

A trailer for Dragon Quest X will be included with the Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection, which is due out on September 15th.

Hmmm Dragon quest huh... It will either be X or one of their spin offs... since they didn't say it was X I think it will end up being a spin off of some sort.

I can't think of what the spinoff would be If it's another Rocket Slime I'd rage Monsters: Joker 2 is just coming out in America and its updated remake just recently came out in Japan.

Ohhh yeah, I remember this vapourware. By "next Dragon Quest game", DQX sounds the most likely because it fits that basic criterion and because other than the fact that it technically exists, no one had really seen anything of it yet.

Though by the time it comes out (and since they do take their sweet time in general), the Wii would be completely obsolete by then. That'll be interesting.

I don't care that the Wii U is coming out. Not like anyone will buy it. It better still come out on the Wii.

I liked Dragon Quest IX... although I never did finish it. I will get back to it sometime. I may take a look into Dragon Quest X though.. just because I liked IX. Also.. I can see the Wii U doing much better than the Wii.

I'm hoping X is less like IX (no character development and same music everywhere) and more like its predecessors (mainly VIII because of its change in style). VIII has to be the best DQ game next to the Zenithian trilogy (IV, V, and VI). Can't say anything about VII because I have yet to play it.
