Im wanting to change my Settings from WPA-PSK(TKIP) To something my old DS can access, the thing is I have no clue how to change this can anyone help me out to change my settings Im useing Windows XP

Go into CMD and type in ipconfig... you should then look for Default gateway (look for right connection wired if ur connected through Ethernet or wireless if well you get the point)

Then type in the address into ur web browser you will then be prompted for a username and password... search google for router details

then either under the setup tab (which is what it like on my router) or security... you should see a encryption option or security option... change option to WEP, add new password and then save... TADA :)

PS: i recommend that you just turn ur security off while on the ds and then turning it bk on..... as WEP is not very secure :) this is what i do :) also afterwards you may have to reconnect all pc/devices on the network

What do you mean when you say search google for router details? I'm on wireless. I've gotten to the gateway and the username and password prompt but i don't know how to find the username and password.
Unless you mean your internet service provider info?

the router is protected by a username and password that the ISP set search google for the default username/password for your router (find router make/model)

Ok, i'm in. I can change from WPA to WEP, BUT will it affect anyone already using the computer? My dad's online aswell and i don't need him raging at me because i messed with something and he can't get online anymore.

Alright, follow this guide carefully... CAREFULLY.. AND READ IT SLOWLY.

1. Type in http://192.168.1.1/ in the URL Bar.

2. If you don't remember your PW or Router Name. Then you can't change anything. [[ONCE YOU ENTER]]

3. Go into wireless settings - Select your router

4. Somewhere on the page, there should be tab that contains your router's security settings.

5. Idk about yours, but each router's security differs on the brand. So, Idk if your interface looks like mine. But when you're in the security settings, it should let you choose what type of security you want on it.

And since I can't access my Admin page due to a router error with the username, I can't post Screenshots.

Thanks alot Just tried it and it worked like a charm thanks a Ton =D

EDIT Actually now I get a error that says i need to move close to the access point((which im sitting by)) or Fix my DHCP Settings but i dunno what i would have to do there xD jesus so much trouble to connect this thing

Okay.

Let's start over A.A.

What are you trying to do again?

--- Since I've factory reset my router, I can help you with Screenshots now.

Shinya yes it will affect other people after changing the security type all PC/Devices need to reconnct to the router

And what is the issues / problems you have.

-- You want to change your security setting, so your DS can gain access? What's the problem with leaving your security on?

The old DS (original and Lite) can't conect to routers using the WPA Encryption option.... that is he problem and he is trying to change it to WEP

Ah.

Alright. I gotcha.

I'm getting the screenshots now. If the DS only supports WEP, then there shouldn't be too much trouble to connect it.

One moment, I'm finishing up the guide now.

Okay. Here's a Guide with Screenshots to help you, so you can avoid errors.

1. Enter http://192.168.1.1 in the URL Bar

2. Enter in your Username and PW - Usually, it's just Username>admin Password>admin

3. Once you're in, the screen should look something like THIS - ((PIC BELOW))

4. Now what you want to do is go to the WIRELESS TAB

5. From there, go to WIRELESS SECURITY

6. Now, you see this Screenshot here? It gives you a list of security encryption modes.

7. Now since we want to change the security to WEP, select WEP from the selection.

8. Now put whatever you want your password to be, DON'T CLICK generate. Click SAVE.

9. Now, you should try to reboot your router, so the change can be implemented.

10. If you're still getting errors or issues connecting, send me a PM.

The Security part isent really the problem now I got it to work with the Wep but when it tests connection it gives me this Error

Error Code: 52000
Unable to obtain an IP Address.Move Within the range of the access point or check DHCP Settings

So WPA2 must be the WEP equivalent or something?

Will have to try this later on and PM you if i have anymore trouble.

No Shin.

WPA2 is completely different from WEP and it's more effective.

Simply put, it's a better mode and it's harder to crack.
