I'm at Wall Market for the second time (before infiltrating the Shinra Building) and I pretty much can't decide on what to do. I'm going for a perfect game (all items, max items, max stats, etc) and wondering if I should keep the last battery and leave the ether? or take the ether and use the battery?
If I leave the ether then I haven't gotten all the items in the game, but If I keep the battery my inventory would be more complete.

Wouldn't a perfect game mean getting all items (including hidden ones)? :hmmm:

I mean, I'm almost positive the battery isn't useful after this point so it will just be lingering in your inventory. I would think finding all of the rare items and side items would be more important than having random useless items in your inventory. :hmmm:

Consider it like a plot item or story item. Some things are meant to drive the game forward. Collecting EVERYTHING the way you are kind of thinking is kind of like never using any potions or never leveling your materia. I think missing the opportunity of getting an item is more incomplete than keeping every useless item.

I never thought of this before. You can always get another ether. The battery however will be gone forever. Is it just me or does some of the key items get taken away later in the game if there is no need for them?

'Perfect game' would be getting and keeping everything you can possibly keep at least one of. You can BUY Ethers if you can't find anymore (but really, who uses all the free Ethers available come end-game time anyways!). If it's something that gets automatically used/lost and there is no way around it then it's not considered part of a 'perfect game'. Look on GameFAQ or something and find a Perfect Game guide as a reference.

I'd keep the Battery ;)

Ah. Well if this is the description of the perfect game then by all means keep the battery. :lew:

Thanks for the help everyone. I guess I will keep the battery for the time being because I can always go back and get the ether when I get the Midgar key.
Now for the next dilemma, to keep the three coupons that you get in the Sninra building or exchange them for the items?

Depends on what the items are that you get in return. If they are "once only" items then get them, if they're stuff like X-potion, ethers ect that you can get multiples of later in the game them keep the coupons.

I couldn't have said it better myself. You could always consider that you got the batteries and that they just got used. I mean, that last ether could just come in handy one day right? :P
