I've been wondering because, you know, i'ts bloody long! I really love it though <3 But I mainly want to know because I went on a walkthrough when I was stuck, and I saw that it was nearly finished! I was like "NOO!!!! THIS IS WORSE THAN AERIS DYING!!!" Which is VERY rarely said by me lol. So tell me, was it the end of a chapter, or the game?! (I'm on the Third Ascent in the Pharos of Ridorana.) If it's not ending soon, when will it? I've gotten most Espers, but I've been collecting things for the best sword and just... I'm not ready for it to finish :( I'm in love :fan: (this smiley is better) :drag: oh, and btw, is the last boss Bahumat?
 
If you're on the third ascent of the Pharos, the game will be ending soon.

After the Pharos, you go to the Sky Fortress Bahamut and fight Gabranth and then Vayne. That's pretty much the end of the game.

You can do some of the sidequests and finish the hunts after the Pharos though.

I'd say you've got two, maybe three hours left until you finish the game? Possibly less if you hurry, possibly more if you're underlevelled...the last boss is a real bitch, since he sets up palings at one point which render him immune to both physical AND magical attacks, meaning you have to wander around until they wear off, whilst he's casting ridiculously powerful spells at you...

I'd recommend going for the sidequests, though, that'll tack on several more hours to the game. Get the Espers you don't have (which ones do you have?), finish off the hunts (Yiazmat alone will tack on about five hours to your playtime at least...), fight Omega Mark XII, etc etc...
 
Wow, XII always feels short to me (excluding the side quests). Not XIII short, but still. But yes, you are nearly at the end. As others before me had said, if you haven't already, you should go on and do the side-quests, like getting the rest of the espers and killing all of the marks.
 
For me, FFXII was boring and dull. It didn't have the same kind of atmosphere as all the other Final Fantasy games. But that's just my opinion.

If you're at the Third Ascent in the Pharos of Ridorana, you are nearing the end of the game! Eventually, you will have to fight the last boss and I have to say, he was easy for me. That is if you are a high enough level and if you have good weapons. If you want to extend gameplay, go finish the hunts and do some sidequests.
 
You are near the end! Or by now, probably finished or doing the sidequests. If you intend to fight Yiazmat, I suggest at least level 90 for all members, as well as obtaining the best equipment you have the patience for before taking the plunge. Set aside a couple hours for this fight incase you lose.

Maybe it was because how you feel about the game can affect whether you want to get the best weapons, do the sidequests, etc.

hahaah its not that long of a game
I always thought it was the average length of a FF game. (if you ignore all the side quests)

the game only took me about 50 hours
 
Yeah everyone else pretty much answered the question spot on. You're pretty much at the last "climb" of the storyline. after you get back to balfomheim, it's either Hunts or Last boss.

If i were you, i'd buy all the high level spells (Holy, Flare, Scathe ect) for every class of magic and concentrate on buying the best gear for each party member, basing on what role your characters are. i.e healers ect.

First time i beat the game, it was fairly easy, i basically just stood there for half an hour while the Gambits did all the work for me :P

Mind you, that's one of the things that killed the game IMO, i mean if you goto youtube and see a vid of a guy killing Omega with 1 character, you'll see how much it kills the experience of a hard fight. (You'll know what i mean when you see what the other 2 party members are doing.)
 
Hey, thanks guys! I appreciate your answers! Sorry I havn't been on a while :) I think I should do the hunts/ rare weapons. It's what makes the game a challenge :randompoke:

I already got Excalibur, and I'm getting the Tournesol (I have 1 gemsteel, 1 emperyl - spelling - soul, 4 damascus steel and 12 snake skins. Oh and 1 serpent eye). I also got those spells like scathe, flare etc., from before.

@ Masamune II, I'll watch that vid when I can :D Hopfully today.

Edit: I have all the Espers except for Ultima and Zodiark
