I Can't get past the first judge battle in FFXII! I have tried leveling up, What else can I do? Please help me I think I'm losing it!!!!!!!!

A failsafe would be to have your team use a chain of Quickenings on Ghis. You'll deliver huge damage, and possibly even wipe him out, seeing as you don't even have to take off all his HP before the battle is over.

Just make sure you heal in time, and make sure your gambits are set. You shouldn't really lose at this battle.

That said... what level are you?

I had trouble with Ghis too. I levelled up to about 13/14 before hand. You should also kill the other enemies who come with him - that makes it a lot easier. Once you've got rid of them he shouldn't be too hard. Just have one character use magic ffrom a distance, and have the other two attack. Problem solved :)

I was about level 20ish when I did Ghis. Used a chain of two or three Quickenings and that basterd went down ^_^

I had this problem, then in the end, i stood one character in the corner (sorry ashe i had to do it) and then let Ghis attack her (she healed herself) and then took him down with the others

I thought that said Hug Damage.

I beat him at 12-14ish just toast the guards quickly and then focus on Ghis.

I Don't have Ashe back yet. And I'm not even at level 20 yet. I don't even know how to use an quickening! What is a quickening?
Quickenings are special abilities obtained on the License Board. Think of them as like Limit Breaks. Each character can learn up to 3 Quickenings, and each Quickening can be learned by only 1 character. When you use one they use up all of your MP though so watch out for that

I took out the others then hd my party fight Ghis. I had Vaan and Basch attack him while Penelo healed them. Worked for me!

Once you've defeated that group of soldiers, you'll free Ashe from one of the cells in the nxt room. On the way ack through the Dreadnought, you'll inevitable come across Larsa and Penelo. Vossler will also leave the team at this point. Not long after that, you fight Judge Ghis

I just realised what you're on about >_< I was thinking you were fighting Judge Ghis
Anyway, I found that levelling up for this point worked a treat, and carefully plan your startegy. Have someone (Fran works best) to stay back and heal your charcters who're being attacked. Then have Basch and Vossler dealing the damage, while Balthier stays back and deals damage from a distance. It also helps to have some good magics for another character too

There are three Imperial Swordsmen behind your party and of course Judge Ghis up ahead. Judge Ghis will start the battle by casting Protect on himself. Once Protect is cast, he will run toward one of your party members and start to attack. Judge Ghis can chain hisattacks fairly well at times and each attack will take around 50 HP so be sure to have some healing gambits set. You can severely limit this whole crowd of enemies by simply casting Blind on Judge Ghis and by casting Disable on all three Imperial Swordsmen. Slow can also be cast on Judge Ghis. The Blind and Slow spells may miss a few times, but keep drowning him with the same spell and
it will eventually take effect. The Swordsmen will not be able to attack and Judge Ghis will not hit you near as much with both spells triggered. Disable wears off quick so use that time to quickly defeat the three Swordsmen then go for Judge Ghis. He has one powerful magic attack that he can still get off even if Blind is cast on him however. His Aero spell will take nearly 150 HP from all party members. Once enough HP has been taken he will use Great Barrier to give himself Shell and Protect. If you have problems with this battle then set a "Self (>) Shell" and "Self (>) Protect" gambit on each party member or set it up so one party member will cast both spells on another. You can actually stand outside the door to the Port Launch and cast both spells on all party members before going inside to start the battle with both of them activated. Judge Ghis will fall shortly before his entire life bar has been drained.

and i killed ghis at lvl 10
