Whenever some characters were casting spell or were summoning,I I always saw there is some kind of talisman" mark" under them, does any one what does it actually call?Because I always wanted to have them as tattoos,it would be nice it there is a gallery of those talisman mark that I could reference.

I can't say I ever noticed any mark underneath them casting? Lights around said character in some of them, sure...but markings? Can you be a bit more specific as to which titles have said marks...?

I'm... Not sure what game you're talking about here, so i'll fire in the dark here and assume you mean FF13, if i'm wrong, disregard it and tell me which game you actually mean :wacky:

But for FF13, they are the marks of a L'Cie and by extension is how they are able to summon Eidolons and perform magic spells, something beyond the means of humans without the use of a Manadrive.

As far as the 'name' of these marks, I believe they are called 'Brands'

For example, some times it acts like a portal, allowing summoned creatures to come out from it

You mean the summon animations such as these?

Ff5Summoner.gif

FFIV_Summon.png

FFVII_Summoning.png

FFVIII_Summoning.png

?

If so, then I don't really know exactly what the symbols mean, if anything, but they are really just there to show that the character is perhaps reciting the correct words and summoning an ancient demon / etc.

Most of the above examples just look like flames cased within bubbles, but in some where there are what appear to be symbols they may well just be fictional symbols to represent summoning and are not intended to be read or understood.

The symbols are probably used to suggest that the summons being called are all ancient creatures which have either not wandered the planet for a long time, or had never wandered the planet (though with most of the summons being based off of Earth's mythological gods and creatures you could even argue that they are tapping into the energy or soul of our planet's beliefs or imagination whenever they summon).

In short, the symbols or fire bubbles are likely only there to show to the player that the character is doing something pretty impressive, and is perhaps opening up a gateway to another dimension to bring this beast into the battlefield.

I see,do they happen to have a name?

I happened to come by a word called "GLYPHS",does that refer to those symbols?

And by any chance,is there a website where I can browse through all the "symbols" and allowing me to print them out?

How odd.

Argor always comes through in the clutch!

These are just animations from different FF games depicting the fact a character is summoning, they have no real name l would think? go ahead and call them glyphs if you want its about as good a place to start.

You want these as tattoos? really? these?.........you must be dedicated to FF.

I don't think that anything exists explaining them, naming them, or even picturing the different symbols, sadly. I think that they would fall under the term 'glyphs' though.

As for the meaning of the symbols... I'm lost with that, and nowhere that I can find explains what they are all about.

I know of no website which has a picture of all of the symbols, but I know that the FFVII image I posted was of Cloud summoning Knights of the Round. I'm not sure if the symbols are different for each summon or not.

Whatever they are, their meaning and interpretation has been kept close to the chests of the game creators. They don't always give all of their thoughts out, as they like people to guess and wonder for themselves about a lot of little things like this. For the majority of the symbols though, I would say they are just fire, or perhaps 'S' symbols, which could stand for Summon, or could be something else.

How odd.

I recognize the Aeons from FFX and Espers the from FFXII thats a nice pic CREA.

So you did not mean the Summoning animation but the Symbols representing the individual Summons, you need to be a little bit more specific when asking about such vagueries its a rich series and there is alot of ambiguity out there.

That's a good image, and some of the symbols are perhaps representing the summons. I'm not sure, as I haven't seen a lot of those before, ever.

Just as a warning... Some of those symbols are not related to summoning. I spot Balamb, Trabia and Galbadia Garden symbols within those, along with the imperial symbol of the Gestahlian Empire from FFVI, the emblems for the Kingdom of Sandoria, Republic of Bastok and Federation of Windhurst, and also Jecht's symbol.

I'm now interested myself to try and find out what the rest of those symbols are. The FFXII ones will probably be the symbols for the Espers, and likewise with the FFX symbols. As for the only FFVII symbol listed, I have no idea what that is. I don't think I've seen it before, and it is odd that that is placed there while the Shinra Company logo is absent.
