If you had to pick, would you say you love the game, or hate the game? Explain the reasons why you feel this strongly about the game in this thread and share your opinions.

I love this game, it's still my favorite FF game. This game was the beginning of what makes up the rest of the series. It brought us the ATB which is something that should never leave the FF games again(big reason why i didn't like FFX), and brought in the idea of a deep involving story as the main driving force through the game, and still the best story IMO.
 
I love it :inlove: It's definitely got one of the best stories, which is especially cool because it demonstrates that fancy production quality is not always what makes a game (I'm referring to the SNES version; even though I have the prettier DS one too, this is the one I really bonded with). Even if they were to make FFs into books with no illustrations, this is the one I'd most likely read. It's got a high rate of cutscenes involving relationships between the in-party characters, which I love and which seems to have declined somewhat in recent FFs (XII:mokken:). It has the greatest soundtrack in the series IMO, challenged only by that of VI. It has the DarkElf, whose all-caps shrieking ("ME ATTACK YOU!") strikes fear into the hearts of men. And it has space travel :gasp:, which is not that common in the series as far as I know (except for VII). Overall, FFIV kicks butt, there's no doubt about it. :D

It had one of the best stories, and villains in my opinion. It was the first FF game I ever played. ( and a lot of other people's) It was one of the few FF games I've finished (I IV and VII) since I was so intrested in it.
Did my name give it away?
 
Haven't played the game in years, but from what I remember, It was amazing, one of the best. I still have to re-buy it some time because it got stolen
 
I LOVE THIS GAME!
It was the first Final Fantasy I had played and is my second favorite (FFX wins).
I love Palom and Porom.
I couldn't stop crying when they turned themselves to stone. I tried everything EVERYTHING to try and turn them back but nothing worked, made it more sad
Cecil's becoming a Paladin was beautiful. Such a beautiful scene.
Where Leviathan attacked I had a heart attack, I lost Rosa and then I loose everyone else? NOES!
It is just too awesome, Rydia, Golbez, Cecil, Kain, Rydia, Rosa, Edge AHHHHH!

I voted "love it."

This was my first Final Fantasy game and still remains my second favorite FF. This is the game that actually got me into RPGs. I love the characters, the story, the music and the gameplay. It had great villains and playing it today gives me that nostalgic feeling. It also spawned one of the greatest insults in the history of gaming. xD

IV is my favorite game of the series. And it's so nice to see that other IV fans still exist ^_^. It was the first Final Fantasy that I actually played and accomplished anything XD. (In I I was very young when the NES was popular and I just walked on the world map.)

I've always loved Cecil's story because I love redemption stories. And palidan's are my favorite class in any video game. And the game was challenging unlike some of the newer games. I remember having a very tough time with Zeromus on the PS version D:. And of course, my favorite FF character ever is from this game! :Rydia:

The game itself had some very cool characters even for it's time; Cecil, Kain, Rosa (her arrows sometimes hit for more damage than Cecil's sword D:), Rydia, Yang, Cid, Edge, and the twins. I even found Edward's story moving at the end. (Hated him in battle though XD though he did have a cool part later in the game.

Oh and you gotta love how this game didn't need a detailed explanation for why you couldn't enter a certain of the castle other than "sealed by a mystic force!"
 
I love it! I played I, II, III, V, and VI but IV is my #1 favorite of all series!

Just think about these lines:

Tellah: You spoony bard!

Edward (or whatever is his other name): Good grief and BOMB!

Yeah, those 2 lines made me love FFIV more.

I really like FFIV. This game just has charm in spades. It has a wonderful cast of characters, a gripping plot and some amazing scenes (both serious and light hearted). Without spoiling things too much, there are strong themes of redemption and sacrifice in FFIV, and it helps to tell a very powerful story.

I only managed to finish FFIV last year, despite having it for years. What put me off it was the lack of customisation options for your party. For some reason, it stopped bothering me after a while, and I guess I learned to be creative and think of strategies without having to mess with character classes at wotnot.
 
I loved this game, I played it all the time when I grew up (and still to this day love 8bit graphic :p) I love that the game has a major development of a Character (Cecil) to make him go from the dark side to the light. Probably one of the best FF or one of the best game on developing the main character of the game. The game has many comedy type moments in it, (palom and porom for instance) that just makes this game a classic.
 
I like this game for a few reasons. Cecil was a man of the king, doing whatever he was told no matter what. But then he started to question if that was right. Tuned into the righteous guy, ect.
This game brought us realtime(not really cause that atb charged slower than a dial up computer in the 90's:P) gameplay. its been so long since ive played it so i dont remember allot of the specifics. But in general a great game.
 
I rank FFIV my third favourite entry in the series so naturally, I love it considerably. It has nearly everything you could ask for in a great RPG. Great characters, significant focus for each of them, a moving story and all the Final Fantasy staple elements present.

FFIV advanced the franchise forward greatly in terms of storyline. In FFI, II and III, everything seemed generic and simple. FFIV raised the bar. It offered emotive moments such as the events in Mist village and Damcyan castle.

Cecil as a protagonist is one of the best. Starting off torn in terms of loyalities, I love how he follows his own path of redemption and becoming a paladin. Even Edward has his redeemable moments despite his uselessness in battle. Kain was good being an initial antihero-kind of character. Edge's crush on Rydia was amusing as well.

Golbez as a villain, was actually quite a good one. I'm still not sure what I make of his part in the ending, but he was a much better villain than his predecessors nonetheless. Tellah's insult is a FF monument. Long live the spoony bard insult. :awesome:
 
I never get tired of FF IV, it is tied with FFVI as my all-time favorite, although I just recently got into FF 12 for PS2 and I have been completely blown away!

I have played a LOT of RPG and RPG-type games, and this was probably the most memorable, as I was in Junior High and spent a lot of time trying to find decent games to play...Later on I would be graced with Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana, but when I wanted depth, the FF series would usually do it :)
 
Ashamed to say it's my second favourite of the series, but I still love it with a passion.

This game tests the player in ways which the other games seem to refuse to do. This games battle system and story line make it one of the best Final Fantasy's to date. The new ones may have amazing Graphics, but they lack the original skill required to complete the Legacy games.
 
I love it!! Im currently playing this on my DS and totally enjoying it. The plot is great and the characters are intresting. Especially Palom and Porom. They are so adorable!! ^^ And Yes I too nearly cried for what they did to themselves.
 
I guess i'm the only one who complely hates this game. Most characters have a weak personality. The story didn't get good till the last few scenes. (my fav scene was the credits) And in the DS version the bosses are way overpowered!
