QUESTION: can i just call a mission or do i need to get them cleared by the powers that be first? I have a cool little problem for you guys that should encourage lateral thinking and problem solving. Sent it on PM to the creator of the rpg

Things that work well for me, but might not work for you guys,
A) DO THE RESEARCH, I’m a knowledge buff so I checked what the Italians call “pasta with truffles” and what wine to serve with it, turns out to be white, and what a good white wine is. As well as the name of a good opera (well singspiel if you want to get overly strict) and I tried to find the name of that nightclub but it seems to have fallen from grace or at least the page I found the info on seems to have fallen from google’s top one spot… I have found that if you know for a fact that what your saying is correct, it’s easier to make definite statement on things. And getting the little details right for me just feels better… And like all things confidence in yourself and your abilities shows, and this is a quick and easy way of making sure you get that…
B) I personally do NOT read bio’s and backstories when I join an RPG at a later date, to avoid “metagaming” Nova wasn’t present for whatever you guys did and she doesn’t YET know your abilities and tricks so if I know them it just encourages me to make decisions based on what I the player knows as opposed to what Nova knows. That said if I am in a fight with someone or otherwise doubt that someone’s making powers up on the spot in which case I check quickly, and try not to abuse the knowledge…
C) The correct soundtrack for a post helps me immensely when writing, for this post I started with some stuff by the Dave Matthews band because I wanted something laid back and and “good” (from a musician critical point of view) and then swapped to “Die zauberflöte” to get the “mood” right for the latter part of the posting. Had this post involved combat I might have taken some Sabaton, Zeromancer or perhaps Hammerfall, again because to me the music helps to get the mood “right”.

So I once had a character rip his own throat out because I constructed a sentence wrong… If you can’t do this yourself ask someone you know to do it for you… I tend to ask Drachnon myself since we go “way back” and we have a similar style…
E) Think outside the box, I bet you that when my bio was approved Oliver didn’t think I’d be using it to order takeout, this is BY FAR the hardest of the premises I’ll be trying to teach you and one of the hallmarks of the really good roleplayers. For example I was once in a naruto rpg with a ninja who had powers over plants. And to make this “better” I used things like nightshade and natural medicine to give my character access to the things she needed which got me both mad propps and allowed me to take out some ninja’s who were a lot scarier than my own character. Because I deflected their instakill powers with controlled burst of energy and used the terrain to my advantage ORPG gives you a lot of freedom, USE IT.
F) Detail management, Detail is good. Adding details for details sake can bog down a post into a string of trivialities. Noone cares what song your character is listening to on his ipod, so you can skip mentioning it. Unless of course you plan on doing something with the detail in a later post. Using my own post as an example, I didn’t really describe my car other then a few salient details to help you guys visualize the thing, It’s a dodge viper, it’s got a body kit, some trick rims and a custom paintjob, enough that anyone has a clear idea of what the car looks like without getting bogged down with excessive details. This is a principle called Checkov's Gun a link to the wikipedia page for which can be found HERE//

G) USE A SPELL/GRAMMAR CHECK, for those without word i would advice downloading OpenOffice which is a good (and free analoge) of microsoft office although pilfering Office 07 from a bay filled with pirates might be a better idea since its just a bit easier to work with... (that's what i did, gotta love the dutch law saying you can download whatever you want)

My Silver Phantom will be a teacher at this Academy...
Name – Arukab Tashira Tragide
Title – Silver Phantom (His abilties gave him this title)
Alignment – Lawful nuetral
Race – Human
Gender – Male
Age – about 230 but appears to be in mid 50's (see history and weapon)
Appearance – Long black hair down to his mid back, his bangs cover his forehead. his eyes are bllod red and he has relatively pale skin however he still maintains that normal peach color. he has no visable scars, however there are many hidden by his clothing attire. H wears a long sleeve full length trench coat made from genuine black leather. under his coat is a silk and coton made dark grey shirt. he wears loose black demin jeans that need a belt to hold them up. his belt is leather w/ silver rings in it and has a silver belt buckle resembling a tarantula. His footwear is boots that reach just below his knees and have silver plates over the toe and heel parts, effective when kicking opponents. all up those boots are straps that also have silver buckles. on his shoulders he wears veary thick, but due to his power not too heavy, spiky silver shoulder plates. he has a pair of white gloves that he always wears despite all his black and as i already specified, he does not carry his gunblade around unless in combat.
Personality – Only speaking when spoken too, Arukab does not attempt to start conversation most of the time, but when spoken to, he responds politely and continues the conversation kindly. He is a good aoul trapped in a dark shell, and very proud of who he is. He bows his steel to no man, nation, or legion. A decision arukab made years ago leads him to defend who he feels need defending, and punishing the ones he dubs as wrong. He does have a good sense of morality to go with that, sided with great mind for justice, punishing bad with bad (eye for an eye style). He would NEVER inrentionally hurt someone that he deemeb as innocent under any circumstances given.
He keeps his emotions generally stable, and he is a difficult one to anger, because he is a patient man with a high tollerance. His stable mindset makes him a great stratigist and a good thinker. He is a very smart one to befriend.
Arukab likes to relax every so often and have som alcohol, but he never drinks enough to get himself drunk.
Arukab has a big thing with children. He will protect a child before a man, and he will never give up to save said child from any harm.
First Impression – With Arukabs dark appearance, someone may startle when approaching him, but his eyes and face never give anyone reason to back away. He has a warming and innocent, slightly pained look in his eyes, and his smile is gentle. Asking his name will lead to the question of his own, "What would this mean to you?" and the odds are he will not tell his true name unless he knows you are trustable. Other than that, he is very kind to any whome approach him.
Also, he looks like someone who has seen many battlefeilds with sad endings.
Strength – So lets say Arukab was benchpressing, at moust he would be able to bench 10 reps of 160 pounds before needing to rest. Punching a solid brick at max power would crack the brick in half, but nothing too bad as to comparison of some warriors he has met.
Speed – At top speed after a good build up, Arukab can run at approx. 30 kph (about 18 mph). However his start off running speed is not great at all, he has to build up speed to go fast at all, and he is not much for running. He can run at this speed fo about ten minutes, but if joggind he could run for about 15 before needing a break.
Endurance – Arukab has a tough exterior, he can easily take a hit and keep walking. However he must avoid being cut, because he is sensative underneath his skin. Putting any pressure on any wound would make Arukab feel strong pain.
Reflexes – When hearing a single step behind him, he will draw his blade and get ready for defense. He knows better than to try an attack because his reaction timing with attacks is delayed a little, so it could be fatal. Just because he prepairs for the attack does not mean he will defend it, He only will be prepared. He would have to have a .5 second notice to actually defend himself properly. That could sometimes be fatal, so he likes to fight with one he can trust to watch his back.
Fighting Style – with hand to hand combat he is more of a kicker, thus the steel toed boots. he often makes his boots heavy to be able to throw more weight for more impact. However he only does so in mid combat so that when running he feels as though there is nothing there. His magic allows him to make the steel on his boots lighter if the situation calls for it. w/ his gunblade he changes it up. he constantly changes his weapons weight, heavy for power, light for speed, etc., ect.. (see magic section)
Weapons – Arukab uses a silver gunblade dubbed as the "soul shot". It's gun handle is that of a SIG-sauer P225 Pistol (linked) However it has silver plating on the sides of the handle. The trigger is silver, but the area around it is black. The weapon Gives the user a virtual immortality. Virtual meaning they can die, but they do not age, nor will they die by disease or by poison/venom. For the weilder to die they must die of cuts, blood loss, internal bleeding, high amp shocks, etc. I'm sure my point is proven.
The blade on the gunblade is made of solid silver, as stated above. The blade is approxamately 15 inches in length and 4 inches deceasing from the handle in width. There is an area near the middle of the blade that dips down about 5 inches from the top of it, but retreats back up and continues to narrow.
Abilities – The ability in his weapon is an ability I suppose. But I will ellaborate more in this section.
If Arukab is to lose the gunblade held in his hand, he will be the same age as he was when he held it, as it simply stops aging, not pauses it. The gunblade also prevents any poisons from gettin inside his cells, so if a poison is injested he will not be effected, but if the gunblade is lost while poison is in the blood, he will start to get affected. Same goes for venoms.
GIFT OF PEGOS, THE BLACK SILVER PEGASUS: Arukab was gifted by Pegos (see history for more). This allows him to grow silver out of his bones, making silver attachments rip out of his skin. The silver grows into whatever shape he so desires. The silver is created from the spiritual energy that Arukab houses, so there are limits and defects. One defect is that when he makes silver, it uses a 1[silver] : 1.5[energy] ratio. His magic also runs on this energy, but does not use it up, so when he uses his silver, it takes away from the effectiveness of his magic, causing it to be less potent. Also, the most silver he can use before having used up all his energy is enough to cover his entire body in 2 inch diamater 5 inch length spikes, however he rarely uses that much silver. When the silver is created, that spiritual energy is used and cannot be made into more silver, it is set so that energy is used until the silver is to return to the body. When one piece of silver is to return to the body, it turns back into spiritual energy, and is able to be used again instantly, as long as he does not keep it out. When one piece grows out it is not set out permanantly and can retreat it while keeping other pieces of the silver out, and even possible to retreat one piece while growing another, as if the energy is being transferred to a new location. He can constantly make the silver until he has reached the limit. However, there is a side effect to using his energy to make the silver. His ability to control the weight will decrease with the more energy being used, so the more silver he has out, the heavier it gets in relation to mass.
╚LIMIT: Argentum Barage: his ratio to making silver is changed to 7[silver]: 1[energy] for less than one second. He uses this split second to make large silver spikes grow out from everywhere in his body, however it then instantly retreats, so its uses are only good when he is surrounded by several weak enemys. It is not very useful against smart or strong enemys.

The wings cannot fly, as they are far to heavy, and he can hardly jump. His running is even slowed massively. The wings are feathered and he can shoot the silver feathers out of the wings, at the sacrafice of the porportional amoung of evergy taken to make that feather.
Metallic Manipulation: His magic involves anything combat related as long as it is made from metal. this is a rare magic that few can master in one lifetime. He can change the weight of any metal things in his possession, making armor lighter etc. etc.. W/ his abilities he can make his gunblade dissapear or vanish, however the weapon may not be in his hands at the time it is in fact in his possession. nothing too flashy.
History – Arukab was born as the only son of Nakiti Tragide. He never got to know his mother, as she died at birth. Nakiti was a noble man, but he was far to loyal to the nation. His father always did as he was told. He never did anything wrong in doing this though, as he was still loyal to his moral. Watching his father, he learned about such nobility and morality. Picking this up, Arukab became a good and nice child, but always dressing in black and metal garb for some unkown reason. This made some worry for his mental state, but it was eventually clear that it was only how he dressed, and had no reflection on his mentality.
As he aged, Arukab began to have great respect for the children of his home, always working on something or playing amongst eachother. At this point he was an early teen, gaining a new respect for the world. School was average, he was smart, and generally got good grades. Of course, he had his hardships. Girls came and went, friends faught amongst eachother, but nothing emotionally traumatizing
In his late teens, he began to gain a total new respect for the entire world. It was a place that was brutalized by evil, and the ones trying to help were always shut down. The he had a dream that would change his life forever. In his dream he was cast in a stone land, full of nothing. There was no sky, no mountains, just stone plains forever. There stood a winged pegasus who said his name was Pegos. he had feathered wings, a silver horn, red eyes, and silver hooves. The Pegasus told Arukab about how he was giving him a gift. His bone marrow would be made of silver from this day on, and a silver gunblade appeared in his hand. It explained that the weilder of the gunblade was only to die of bloodshed. Pegos told him to fight off anyone that he saw as bad, and to protect the ones his eyes dubbed as good. The rest he would have to learn on his own.
The morning afterwards, he awoke with the same gunblade in hand, and a peice of shoulder armor lay next to him. He felt as though he had to wear this armor, and in putting it on, he accepted his destiny. He then left out for the world, but he did not weild his gunblade that was given to him, because he did not want to wear out such a precious weapon.
Around the age of 53, he discovered that the gunblade given by Pegos would stop aging as well, as he heard it from a prophet of the sorts. The he had a dream that would change his life forever. In his dream he was cast in a stone land, full of nothing. There was no sky, no mountains, just stone plains forever. There stood a winged pegasus who said his name was Pegos. he had feathered wings, a silver horn, red eyes, and silver hooves. The Pegasus told Arukab about how he was giving him a gift. His bone marrow would be made of silver from this day on, and a silver gunblade appeared in his hand. It explained that the weilder of the gunblade was only to die of bloodshed. Pegos told him to fight off anyone that he saw as bad, and to protect the ones his eyes dubbed as good. The rest he would have to learn on his own.
The morning afterwards, he awoke with the same gunblade in hand, and a peice of shoulder armor lay next to him. He felt as though he had to wear this armor, and in putting it on, he accepted his destiny. He then left out for the world, but he did not weild his gunblade that was given to him, because he did not want to wear out such a precious weapon.
Around the age of 53, he discovered that the gunblade given by Pegos would stop aging as well, as he heard it from a prophet of the sorts. Taking this into consideration, he began to weild the gunblade, and doing as pegos told him, he faught the bad and defended the good for many years to this day...

XP Blade was originally mine, then remade by Squee so as to look better. I now use him here:

This is basically the incarnate of power as a life-form, but is hardly even a life-form. It can usually drift from human to human, but can only posses a human. The abilities given to the human always vary by the humans skills, weaponry, abilities, magic, and even personality. Basically, every human is given different abilities. This also can vary by the potency of their possession. Blades current possession is mostly body very little spirit. There may be times with rp masters permission that the power would be increased when necessary. These spirits are almost impossible to destroy, and they contain great power when outside of a human, but since they have no physical form alone, can hardly manage to go all out. Also, the human possessed is still alive and kicking (figurative) and the voice of the human is always heard in the back of the head. It is easy for them to shut it out though, they know no other way of life. Some humans can activate their abilities even with the spirit taking the body, it depends on the level of will and how on-guard the spirit is. If a spirit is to go fully spiritual in a human, they will both work together to have all the physical aspects of the human and all the spiritual features of the spirit, but this can only be met by special bonds and willingness of the human, and that almost never happens...
Appearance: As an astral spirit, he has no definite shape, color, or form really, but the human he is inside of will be the description. Wearing no real armor, Blade wears extremely loose clothes for mobility. The top half f his shirt, including the sleeves are all tan, but the bottom half is black. The colors have faded from the sun dying them. He wears a bandanna like cloth on his head over his hair, but his blue hair does show well, especially in front. The cloth also flows in the wind. His pants are camo and very baggy to cover the high part of his military combat boots. He also has deep blue eyes that one could get lost in, with a charming looking face that people would not mind looking at multiple times.
First Impression: He seems like an easy one to approach. His looks make some people almost want to approach him. He is in fact a very attractive young man and seems to be very nice. He has an aura about him that is very welcoming and sometimes warming.
Personality: Cheerful. Blade talks freely to others, and is everyone's friend. He helps those in need whenever possible, and is loyal to his friends. He also likes to be there for all the ones he deems as friends. To him a friend is the most valued treasure, and he loves them with all his heart. He takes full responsibility of his actions, so he always tries to finish a mission with complete success, as he is a mercenary. He also pushes himself to do his best on the small things that count, because it keeps him in practice. He cherishes all the small things, and he always tries to make people aware that those small things never leave. In battle, Blade's talking is generally informative instead of conversational. He yells out warnings and advice to his comrades, and taunts to his enemies. He believes it could come in handy very often.
Strength: Physically, he cannot do much damage at all, as he is not possessing a strong human. He could not damage a brick if punched at all, and his kicks are not much either. He has to rely on his weapons for any physical strength.
Vitality: taking punches is hard for him, as he is thin so that any hit can easily hit an important nerve or muscle. It is also simple to knock the wind out of him. He could easily fall in hand-to-hand combat.
Speed: his all out sprint, lasting a max of 35 seconds, is at about 19 miles an hour, but he can run at his normal speed of 14 miles an hour for up to 21 minutes. This will of course vary depending on if he has been hit by anyone or hits objects on his way.
Stamina: He normally can last a good 15 minutes in combat, but if he were to be struck enough, he would not last long depending on how hard and where he is struck. It also depends on if he has been running, so this number can greatly vary, but assuming he was just resting and not tired at all, 15 minutes would be the max
Weapons:
Weapon 1: Spear. Basic spear, nothing special about it except the fact that it can be infused with Blade's power without breaking. The length is about 5 feet 3 inches and it is very sturdy. The wood it is made out of is red pine and has been stained and properly finished to appear dark and almost black. The tip is the standard triangle, but larger and sharper. It can puncture skin simply and stands a good chance at staying sharp when striking a hard surface.
Weapon 2: Dagger. Faintly glowing small weapon, is used when his spear breaks. It's length measures in at 9 inches. It is very durable and good for defending. The material is rather durable and light, so it is simple to use. It glows only due to the fact that he once tried to infuse magic on it, failing for the most part, but also leaving a part of the magic in the blade. The magic remaining within it does nothing.
Abilities:
Lunar wrath: Basically a modified version of the Dragoon's jump, Blade jumps high in the air and crashes down, sending out a shock-wave of energy about 3 meters in diameter. The wave could send a foe 3 meters back, so the same length as the wave basically. Energy used for this isn't much, only taking about 1/25 of his total energy. It doesn't do much damage, mainly used for getting out a pinch if he is surrounded. The opponent could very easily get back up, but it would buy Blade time to get safer.
Energy breaker: Blade plants his spear into the dirt and jumps on top of it. He then conjures an orb of pure energy that he tosses at his opponent, and it explodes after about 3 seconds, whether or not it hits his opponent. The orbs speed of travel depends completely on the strength used to throw it. The energy drain also depends on the energy he puts into it, as he can change it. The more energy, the stronger and bigger the explosion, the less energy, the smaller weaker and smaller the blast.
Circle of Life: Blade, using his dagger, spins it at high speeds so it is a sharp circle. He then manipulates it like a boomerang/Frisbee, sending it flying it at his opponent before catching it at its return. This takes little energy, and he can use this up to 20 times before needing to stop, and he won't usually use it unless he is low on energy anyway.
Spell Barrier: Blade casts up a wall covering only his body naturally, draining a little energy that would affect him only slightly when used once. He can cover enough area to cover two people but this costs an extra 50% of the additional energy, nothing he can't shake off and ignore when he does it only once. This has no protection against physical attacks, but nearly any magic attacks can be blocked unless from above, or find someway around the wall. There is no magic spell that can actually break the barrier, but going around it is very well possible. Again, this offers no protection against a blade. He would need to use this ability 13 times alone, covering only himself, before running out of breath and energy.
Shockwave: Blade can send a shockwave out to at most 15 feet of energy that blasts foes away. The actual shockwave does almost no damage, but the objects the targets hit will damage them appropriately. Since it is so weak but effective this takes no drain, making it sometimes more effective than Lunar Wrath, but since they are cast in different methods, sometimes one could be more effective than the other. Since this one is cast by a herd solid punch to the ground, he uses it generally when alone, because foes will be hit, however so will ally's. He also might do it if he is sure that there are no close ally's in the area. It is weaker in strength than Lunar Wrath, but has a larger shockwave.
Bodyguard: He summons a surrounding barrier around himself that does the same as Spell Barrier in energy drain, but instead of being able to hold it up at will, it only stays for a half second. This includes the engulfing of another again at the cost of an extra 50% energy drain per person. It is transparent and cannot be seen by the human eye, but blade can see it. The energy drain is slightly more than Spell Barrier, as he would only be able to cast it 9 times before running out of energy.
Spirit smash: Blade punches a target, and although the punch is weak, he channels his astral spirit powers through his arm and it hits the enemy in the soul, causing the an unexplainable lightheadedness and dizziness. this takes no energy and can only be used once every 15 seconds. What is done is, he extends part of his spirit into the foe, then pulls it back extremely fast, causing the targets spirit to get hit, which causes the stated effects. Since it is done like this, there is no energy drain, and an average person could recover from the state within a few seconds, depending on their own endurance.
Explosion Mind: The spirit within the body gathers stagnant and/or used energy from previous spells and uses it to add to its own spell energy. It is a kind of energy recycling. It has a range of 12 feet in diameter, and this has no effect on others in the area. Again, it only takes used energy. Also, the longer he charges it, the more energy taken in. here is a key of the sorts. He cannot recycle his own energy though

They go onward until they hit a target, and always explode on contact. The energy used then returns to his body. The balls shot out move rather slow so this is mostly a close range attack, made generally for when a foe is closing in. being 6 inches in the diameter, the balls are rather large and blast in an 18 inch diameter as well. The power this has can knock an unsuspecting one onto their feet and leave them with little real damage, but this is mostly to startle one and stop them in their movements. Since the energy used returns to him, it cancels out the energy drain, but the drain while it is out is 25% of his remaining energy. this could sometimes decide his life or death in a quick battle.
Grappling Blast: Charging for 1.25 seconds, he shoots an energy based shot that launches a vertical wave of power that strikes an enemy, but instead of knocking them back, it brings the target to him. It travels in a direct line. If he is to miss and hit a different object, it will not come towards him unless it is an animal of the sort, basically only living breathing things will come to him. The energy it takes would put him out if he used it 4 direct times without regaining energy. The blast generally will keep going the direction it was cast until it hits something. It always explodes on contact. He would need to cast this 6 times before being wiped out to the point that he cannot fight anymore

The human was chosen because he was considered a massive sinner that did not deserve to live. Anyways, this human that he took over, he decided to act as though it was him, not as the actual human, so the personality is in fact blade. He has not bothered finding a way to break the seal, but he usually wonders what will happen when the human's life is over.

As for my idea for a mission even if it is not "the right way to do it" My char would plaster it on every noticeboard in school, and have fun with it... I do genuinely feel it would promote teamwork, lateral thinking as well as problem solving by THINKING rather then an application of power...
