Generally, our tips from industry insiders have been reliable. So much so, in fact, that I got pretty lazy in doing independent research and recently published something I shouldn’t have. Tetsuya Nomura did in fact promise announcements of currently secret game in 2010, but the part about having received requests for the title did not show up in the interview. We published this (as a rumor, not as news, mind you) based on a tip — and like I said, these have been historically trustworthy — but as you can see in reading the actual pages of the magazine, that part of his supposed quote is not there. The magazine has hit shelves, and upon good advice, looking at the pages shows nothing of the next game having been personally requested. This mixup was my fault for not waiting for the magazine to come out before posting the leaked “info.” When stuff like this happens, RPG Land will always be straight with you about it instead of just slash-and-burn delete crap like, oh, say, certain other places. Thank you all.

Ack, major booboo. I hope I never make that kind of mistake if I ever get a positon somewhere >_>

But still, there is a new game to be announced in 2010 that we haven't heard anything about. That's still something to be on the look out of.

I have to admit, it is rather amusing, especially given all the Final Fantasy VII fanatics that suddenly appeared in the masses. I hope it doesn't include KHIII although I wouldn't class that as "hugely requested". I could only expect it to be Final Fantasy VII that was "hugely requested" in which it's had its time for glory and should not be a priority of SE to remake, not now, not ever.

Gah. I'd hate it if something like that happened to me.

I'd feel like such an idiot. >.<

Poor guy. Though this will teach him to do his job more carefully next time I suppose. >.<

And yes I agree that they really should leave FFVII alone. Though who knows. If it's soemthing that really is widely requested they might just do it for the money as they do. >.<

And here's a fundamental Final Fantasy Forums tip:

Don't get too lazy or complacent whenever you're in journalism of any kind!

It doesn't deny that Nomura is still working on something mysterious and juicy though, whether or not it is a FFVII remake or not.

If it really isn't a remake, I'm not too bothered. It isn't that necessary anyway and would have been time consuming and draining to make.

But whether or not SE truly listens to their fans and to the demands of the gaming world, we shall have to see. All we know is that they would do anything for big money regardless of whether or not they choose to listen.

It's been almost five years since Kingdom Hearts 2 came out.

Is really hoping that it's Kingdom Hearts 3..

Think there was a five to six year wait between Kingdom Hearts one and two so maybe it's possible that Square- Enix have Kingdom Hearts 3 on the mind ?

The information doesn't necessarily eliminate the possibility of a remake. It just says that Nomura didn't specifically state in his interview that the game has been largely requested.

When I read the earlier article I felt that the guy jumped to the conclusion that the game would be a FFVII remake far too quickly. To be honest I don't really care what it is at this stage. I'll admit I'm curious, but I'm not on the edge of my seat or anything. I can't get hyped about a game when I don't even know what it is.

I hope this means that the next game will be either KH 3 or TWEWY 2. An FFVII remake would have been grand, but I can wait for that. I didn't want it this soon (I know 12 years is not soon XD) but I want a few other things first.

This doesn't curve the possibilities of a remake, but I wouldn't get your hopes up that this actual announcement WILL be an FFVII remake. They still need to remake FFV and FFVI before remaking FFVII, so keep that in mind. They've remade I-IV so far, so it would only be right for them to go in order and remake V and VI before remaking VII. I'm with SaShman on this one and will say I'm curious, but not on the edge of my seat or anything. I would like to see KH3 finally announced.

Hi guys, I'm Heath from RPG Land...hence my user name. I like this forum and think you have a great community. I sadly (probably) won't be around too often because I'm not much of a forum poster outside my own realm, but I do almost always enjoy reading the conversations of Final Fantasy (and RPG in general) fans from all over.

I just came in here to note one thing real quick:
When I read the earlier article I felt that the guy jumped to the conclusion that the game would be a FFVII remake far too quickly.
This is where i'm glad "the guy" does not refer to me.
Many other people who were reporting on the same leak (English and Japanese) were peeing their pants about FFVII for PS3. In my article, I quoted the source and not a single thing more -- not a word about any specific game. THAT would have been a lot harder to swallow, if I'd done that.

It's a shame these things happen, though were it not RPG Land, you'd have heard it elsewhere (maybe a lot of you did), as there were several outlets privy to the same leak. Like I said in my retraction, these have almost always been accurate and there was more than enough reason to trust the info. We reported it and labeled it a "rumor," and since the magazine was not yet on shelves, no more personal investigation could have been done at the time.

However, once the magazine was out, we were the first on the scene to post the scans and, upon reading them (displaying them for all to see), we were also the first (and from what I have seen, only) to admit reporting a bad leak.

At least one English website and at least one Japanese website that I know of edited their original articles and/or deleted them entirely without mentioning a retraction. When I worked at RPGamer (did over 2 years there), we were trained to simply delete such stories as if to pretend they never happened. I find that practice disgusting and dishonest. Adding updates and edits is one thing, but total deletion without apology is unacceptable to me. And yet it seems other media outlets that were privy to the same leak I was have simply gone back in time to fix their original articles without making a note of it, pretending things never happened.

Like I said in my retraction, I do apologize and I for one will be treating leaks differently now than in the past. (You as readers should also keep this incident in mind with this stuff too.)

Anyway, thank you for reading. This is a solid forum and good group you've got here. I am thrilled to see RPG Land show up in your news posts seemingly every other day. I love RPGs and love writing about them and delivering news & media straight from Japan to you...almost as much as I love this emoticon :awesome:

You can thank our two news reporters (and moderators of course ;P) Asabella and Cid Raines. :D And thank you so much for the kind comment towards our community. We do try very hard to keep it up and going! I'm so glad that there are still people who will humbly admit and apologize if a mistake is made. It's nice to know that, but don't beat yourselves up. These things happen sometimes. :) It's appreciated that you've let us know that it was a mistake, so people don't get their hopes up over nothing if nothing is to happen or once the announcement is posted about said game. Anyway, thanks for taking the time signing up and letting us in on that information! And yes, the awesome emoticon is amazing! :awesome:

That does seem fair.

Hey, I'm all right with a VI remake ^_^ But like you, I to am hoping it's KH3.:D
