Looking at that is all depressing. 
It's a shame to see so much effort put into the artwork go to waste. I bet the artists, and also the others that worked on the game, are feeling a bit crap that their efforts didn't make light.
Looks like it was going to be an Ivalicean game, so I wouldn't have been extremely fussed with it unless it was to be a Tactics game or something along those lines, but still it's a shame it was cancelled.

The art looks pretty nice, and I know with some people hating the standard bishie character designs that I personally love, this would have been a nice change.

The game was commissioned by Square. GRIN is a now defunct Swedish developer. Recently they were responsible for the new Bionic Commando game and Wanted: Weapons of Fate. It's quite interesting to note that this is the very first time Square has commissioned a third party to develop an original Final Fantasy title. Pity that it didn't amount to anything anyway. The artwork is beautiful.
The artwork is very appealing and it is a shame this game got cancelled.

I still definitely think it's influenced by Lord of the Rings, look at the artwork with the tree in it, that definitely has a Minas Tirith/White Tree of Gondor feel to it
