A Final Fantasy XIV forum?

I know that there isn't a lot of info on this game as of yet, but it would still be nice with a forum dedicated to it. To discuss how we'd like the game to turn out, what features we'd like it to have and so on. Just my 2 cents

I agree, we don't know too much about it yet. So there probably wouldn't be much to talk about, at this point in time. However, I certainly don't see any harm in creating one anyway, considering a XIV forum will inevitably be created because XIV part of the main series. Plus it is going to be released next year and more information will probably be revealed soon, so it is likely that the XIV forum won't be completely dead if it is created.

Perhaps in a further 6 months or so it might be a good idea.
But right now there wouldn't be enough information for it.

Dissidia didn't have its own board here until a month or so before the release, and people were still able to discuss Dissidia beforehand.

At the moment there isn't a lot on FFXIV that we know.. While we may like to discuss it and that I can still see these discussions only taking one to three threads at max at this point in time.

I don't see the need for one yet really, I mean, it's only just been announced. >_>
As others have stated there won't be that much to talk about really, we'll probably only have a few threads on it for awhile, which can be moved to the XIV area when it's created.

Plus all updates etc are always posted in the News Compendium so we'll still know how it's going and we can just discuss it in them topics as people normally do.

It's not that I don't WANT to put a forum up for XIV yet, it's just that I really don't see the necessity of one right now. As stated above by Argor, we didn't put a Dissidia one up until about a month before the game's release. People discussed it just fine in the FF General Discussion. Please understand I'm not trying to be a bitch about it, quite the contrary. I just feel it's not a necessity at this time. We hardly know anything about the game at all. Let's wait a few months and see what we find out down the line. For now, feel free to make threads in FF GD area, okay?

Agreed. That's probably the best way to bring the word out there at the moment, but later down the road a forum will certainly be created. =]

No worries, I don't get offended by other peoples' opinions differing from mine, it's a forum and we're all here to discuss Anyway I do realise that there's not a lot of concrete info as of yet, but with the release date of FF XIV potentially rivalling even that of FF XIII, more info is bound to come along soon. Also, it seems like Final Fantasy XIII has had it's own forum pretty since the only info on it was that there was going to be a collection of several games. What makes XIV so different?

Exactly, plus both Dave and I had to ask for the new Kingdom Hearts boards to put up and even then it wasn't until recently they were actually put up, therefore, FFXIV has every right to be made to wait as well.

What makes XIV so different?

The anticipation and popularity of the two games are on completely opposite ends of the scale.

how about we change the ff Xi section to a FF mmorpg section, then just have XI and XIV, sub-sections, so its already there, but doesnt "waste space" for the time being, and then it will ultimatley save speace if they decide on a new one, or more expansions ect later on

I do like 420 Ink's idea though. There's hardly any activity in the FF XI forum anyway, so I guess that makes sense.

Alright, instead of creating a whole new section I was having a chat with one of my moderators and we thought it'd be best to make a sub-forum (instead of a whole new section) in FFXI. So I went ahead and created a sub-forum for FFXIV in the FFXI section. I hope this helps out until we get more information.
