Dragonball Evolution

Ugh, if that's true, then the incentive for watching it has disappeared. I hate films that only use the same characters but abolish the story that made them as famous as they actually are.

Urgh. Just to bump up an old thread but I saw part of the trailer for this film in like, a montage of film trailers, last time I went to the cinema, and it made me CRINGE.

It's gonna suck so badly. The special effects look crap and the acting was worse. D= I really wanted Dragonball to have a successful transition to live action...but it's not going to happen =/ If it had a bigger budget and remained more faithful to the series, it could have been so much more.

I can't remember if I posted here, but they are about to destroy Dragon Ball Z's image with this movie. It makes me physically ill thinking what they did to anime.

Ah oh well. What are you gonna do, you know? I say it will have one of the worst ratings in history.

This movie is already leaked on the internet. And you've guessed it! It's complete shit. It's one of those horrible live action kid movies.

A few spoilers....

Goku is a douche. You remember how Goku wouldn't fight unless he had to? Well, there was a gang of guys wanting to pick a fight with him. The real Goku would say: "Come on guys. Let's not fight!" Not the movie Goku, he beats up the group.

The only character who is just like the original is Chi Chi.

Master Roshi grabs Bulma's butt and then quickly removes his hand and apologizes. Roshi wouldn't apologize and would probably keep molesting Bulma until she kicks him or something. >_>

Piccolo is the villain. Even though at the end of Dragon Ball Piccolo and Goku become friends. Piccolo dies btw.

Oh wow, I am glad someone has brought this up. I was going to but never got around to it.

This movie is going to be horrible for die-hard DBZ fans. I have seen half of the movie, because someone managed to put the ENTIRE movie on Youtube before it was eventually taken off for Copyright reasons. Goku is NOTHING like Goku. It is the WORST possible character they could have got for Goku. Bulma doesn't even have blue hair, and her hair being blue on DBZ was one of the major icons for me. A few characters weren't even in the Movie that WERE in Dragon Ball. Piccolo was "OK" as far as his costume, but it was a bit cheesy as was the movie.

There are so many critiques I have about this movie, but I won't list them all. The special effects were horrible, and the Ka-Me-Ha-Me-ha looked like they created it in about two minutes on some type of computer animated program.

The movie was just horrible, well the parts I saw. It is nothing like the original story, and if you like DBZ you will hate this movie. On the flip side, if you are new to DBZ you may slightly enjoy this movie. You have to keep an open mind, which is hard to do. You will probably see it as a cheesy movie even if you are new to DBZ.

As a die-hard fan, I will still go see this movie in Theaters but I won't enjoy it. I am saddened for the series, and I hope and believe that they will remake this movie. They could have done a good job on this with the technology we have now, but it seemed like they were lazy penny pinchers who didn't want to spend too much. I believe that once they realize this movie was a complete waste, they will start from scratch later on and completely recreate it.

Just watched the movie.

As a movie, it was ok. If you can try and picture it as a movie based on Dragonball but not actually DB, you may find it slightly entertaining.

As a part of the DB world - it sucked. Goku just isn't Goku. Bulma just isn't Bulma. Roshi.....well, one of the closest characters to what he was in the anime though still different.

It's worth a watch, I thought I'd be turning it off after 10 minutes, but it kept me watching. Way too much was changed, some of it understandable, as you can't really have a live-action movie that identical to anime, but some of the stuff they changed wasn't really needed.

5/10 from me. Just wished they cast some proper martial artists for Goku and Piccolo.

I don't DB but I just can't bring myself to watch the movie, apart from the fact it got a 3.3/10 from IMDB the trailers just look as if it's one of those films that should stay with anime and not into actual films. The characters don't even look like what they do in the anime, although, I woulda watched it if Cell was in it :awesome:

Oh gosh, typically I'm one of those who's very optimistic about a movie even though the rest of the world is chanting "It sucks!" But after watching the trailer, I had to laugh. That isn't DB...that's...somethin' else. I don't know what yet, but I might figure it out when I watch the whole thing.

...Although I really don't wanna see it, but I shall force myself just so I can find out what exactly that movie entails. It's bugging me.

For those who watched DB anime this movie will be the worst movie ever, but for those that knows only that Goku always use technique KAMEHAMEHA this movie will be the best movie ever! :P

I'll watch the movie, just to say "Yeah, I saw the DB live action film". I'm probably not gonna enjoy it though. I mean, a young Roshi?!? What's the world coming to? Plus, Goku's meant to be a buff young adult, and I kinda can't see that.

I find it strange how the fault you picked out about Bulma was her hair not being blue, when her character was completely different. :wacky: Her hair is understandable, it's a film with REAL people, and how often do you see people with their natural hair colour being blue? :wacky:

This is where it gets abit annoying. Even though the movie isn't great, you should expect changes to things, converting an anime/manga such as DB to live-action will hold forced changes. Seen the word "cheesy" mentioned, how cheesy would the film have looked if Bulma was walking around with blue hair, Goku had the same style hair as in the anime/manga and so on.

Don't see why you're going on about DBZ either, as it's not a DBZ movie, it's based on Dragonball, not Dragonball Z.

The problem I have with the movie is mainly, the things they changed which weren't needed. The Oozaru for example. Goku's attitude and the entire story behind the Dragonballs and so on. Tweaked the characters too much.

Not enough proper fight scenes either, probably would've benefitted more by casting real martial artists to play Goku and Piccolo so they could've had a proper fight.

Thought I made a thread? Oh well lol.

Im a big Dragonball Z fan, it was one of the first animes I got into and Im disapointed. I refuse to see the film as I just dont like the look of it. Im not wasting 90 mintes of something I cant even stomach a 2 minute trailer. I like my animes to be that; anime! Not live action.

i will probably watch it when it goes to the dollar theather where i live but im not gonna pay like almost $10 to see this now. i saw the commercial and the characters that are playing goku and the other looks stupid. it doesn't look good at all.

I think the biggest thing that bothered me about this movie, was the fact that they were in Highschool, and it was jock vs the nerdy kid, who ends up getting the girl because he's got a pure heart, blah blah blah. It turned into a cliche tween movie, and that was absolute nonsense. The romance bit wasn't even romantic... it was just plain annoying. Goku wasn't as clueless about it as he should have been, and Chichi didn't act anything like herself. (Besides that she had her nose stuck up in the air) I thought the only character that wasn't horribly OOC was Yamcha. Master Roshi wasn't bad either. Goku was alright too, it's just that there were some major things about him that bugged me. They are probably small things in the long run, but they still upset me. Though, I walked into the movie with the idea that it was going to fail, and it did, so I don't know why I'm even ranting, lol.
