So I've been replaying Chain of Memories these last few days and it's only just occurred to me that Deep Jungle has been left out of in-game play. The Bouncywilds and Powerwilds were made local to Olympus Coliseum instead of being left out altogether.

What are your thoughts on the lack of Deep Jungle? Why do you think SE decided to do this and did you miss playing through the world of Tarzan?

The best explanation I can come up with is contractual difficulties with Edgar Rice Burroughs or some relevant figure. Given that they could only include Mickey Mouse for one scene at the end of Kingdom Hearts due to the same explanation, I find this to be the most credible reason.

Yes that would be the most logical reason. If I had to think of another reason why they didn't include it: It didn't fit in the story line.

There was a set amount of Organization members in Castle Oblivion and a set amount of floors. If there was an extra world, then the story might have been change slightly. If they used an extra Organization member in Castle Oblivion, then KH2 would've change also.

In short: IMO they made a storyline where Deep Jungle didn't fit or any other world for that matter.

That'd be easy enough to get around - there're only thirteen floors to fit nicely with the thirteen members but there wasn't an Organization-specific event on every floor (less those cutscenes) so they could've just made floor thirteen another playable world, with Marluxia just waiting at the top, as opposed to making the top floor brand new.

That would be logical... but when you think about it, Square doesn't really follow logic.

Well if they made the thirteenth floor playable then that would make Marluxia less of a final boss. But as I've said before, your first theory is more likely.

I suppose. Although, if you consider that the last floor would still be Twilight Town and that Marluxia would still be the last remaining member of the Organization left in Castle Oblivion (minus Axel but we know what happens there), he'd still have the 'sense' of a final boss - particularly when there're two proceeding stages to that battle and, well ... it's the end of Sora's story. :wacky:

Like Urbanism said, your first theory makes more sense. But with the whole including it anyway logically, they could have made the Whinnie The Pooh world oly a bonus world, I mean, it was way too easy and short to be considered a full on world, I mean, it didn't have any battles or structure, just finding Pooh's friends, which is pretty much a bonus minigame disguised as a world.

Tarzan's world wasn't my favourite world from KH1, but it owns Whinnie The Pooh's world IMO.

Then again, I'm not THAT upset that they left it out, it did get irritating constantly fighting the leaopard in KH1, and I hated that vine swinging part, however, the only good thing about it is that you got cure from it, but that isn't exactly relevent in COM, considering its all cards and what not.

Disney had licensing issues with Tarzan, so Deep Jungle was omitted.

Anywho, I didn't really miss it. It would have been great to have another boss or two to fight against, but I didn't need another world filled with spring platforms and crates to explore.

It's like when I was playing and went to Agrahabah it seemed that Sora forgot about Aladdin.
And about Deep Jungle I didn't like the world in KH1 so why would I like to have it in KH:CoM?

I was kinda sad it wasnt in Chain Of Memories. It was so fun in kh1 climbing on surfing on the vines.Ah good times.... :) I wonder why though it wasnt in CoM. :|

I don't get why the left Deep Jungle out. I would have loved to beat the crap out of those monkeys with cards!

I didn't realise that Deep Jungle wasn't a world until I'd beaten Sora's story. I'm glad they left it out though, because it's my least favourite world in the first game.

I'm glad they left it out. I disliked the level, mainly because I didn't like the Disney movie in the first place.

You know, I never really noticed that it was left out until now XD; I didn't miss it at all, to be honest. That was the one world that I didn't just not like, I really didn't think it should have been in the first, and I'm glad it wasn't in the sequel. But as for why it wasn't, it's probably because there was a lot of places in it that required coordinated jumping (like with the Vines area), so that would have been difficult to transfer into a 2D game, at least in my opinion. That, and there isn't really any storyline that could have been transfered over to it CoM XD;

I did notice it's absence and was slightly dissapointed to be honest. It wasn't my favorite world to play in, but I loved the music that was in the jungle. Just the characters all together. I think I like it so much because it was the first world to make me really feel the Kingdom Hearts feel in the first game (besides Traverse Town).

The reason was copy right issue between Disney and Edgar Rice Burroughs. I forgot what article it was, and it was a very long time ago, but that is all I know about it.
