Gilgamesh

Why don't I remember Gilgamesh being in IX? D'=

He was the
four-armed man
, his name is revealed if you get to be an S-rank treasure hunter.

He doesn't have fakes.

Yes he does.

The kanji reads "fake" :elmo:

Chocobo on the blade. No chain on the end. No trigger.

Has two hooks on the end instead of one. Blade is much more translucent. Hilt is slightly different. Need I go on?

Anyway, aside from XI, it's the same Gilgamesh. He passes from dimension to dimension via The Void. He talks about it a bit in VIII. I can't be bothered to go into more detail, look it up on your own.

yeah, the weapons taht Gilgamesh has in FFXII are stated as replicas. He states after battle or something like that, that he has been all around the world hunting these down and trying to colelct all of them, but he can't get the originals.

Also, when you defeat him the last time, he drops a 'replica' Wyrm Hero Blade, because that's just how he does. he collects teh replica's because the hero's never give up their legendary weapons. ;)

I always assumed that this 'dimensional interval' was how Guardian Forces came to and from the battlefield and that Gilgamesh was simply exiting the battlefield the way any other Guardian Force would. I'm quite gutted that I now see it differently - I'm back to guessing where the GF's actually come from ... in any game. :wacky:

Gilgamesh is one and the same IMO.

In FF5, he was banished from the dimension by Exdeath. He then travels the voids different portals. It just happens that the portals lead to the different worlds such as Ivalice. He also has different replica weapons from different games. If he gets beaten, I think he gets banished again to another dimension.

Well, I am not sure in FFVIII, but in FFXIII, Espers have existed ever since the creation of the world. Each Esper was given an specific role which they were supposed to fulfill accurately. If you read the Clan Primer, you will find out that the Espers rebelled and fought a war against the Gods, ultimately losing for their insurrection.

I can suggest that GF's in FFVIII were born from the forces of nature, hence we have almost every single GF aligned to an specific element. Also they were said to be Mythical Creatures, that existed ever since the world was created, or at least close enough. Each of them have a mind of its own, as we can see with the GF Diablos (Diabolos), the GF Odin, the GF Gilgamesh, and Sacred and Minotaur (Brothers).

Gilgamesh can also be found in Final Fantasy I: DoS at one of the new added dungeons (can't remember which one) and like previous appearances he is looking for Excalibur but ends up with Excalipoor. Gilgamesh is also in the GBA version of VI as an Esper, and is only available to fight if you have the 'legendary sword' on possesion. Both of these Gilgamesh's have the same appearance as he had in V so should be seen as the same one even though its strictly non-canon.
