Cousin...love...

I'm pretty sure brother is in love with Yuna. The things he says, the way he reacts...It's quite obvious...and yeah it is a bit disturbing..but then Brother isn't a average guy...
 
I knew Brother was in love with Yuna, but I never really thought "Ew, he's her cousin!"
To be honest, I always thought Brother liking Yuna was kind of..."Ugh." Not only is it only a physical attraction, he looks a lot older. And is quite clearly a pervert. xP Haha. :lol:
The fact he's her cousin doesn't bother me, really. Okay, it's not something I'd do, but meh.
 
The point is that all Brother cares is about looks. Now Tidus at first, he didn't think that Yuna was any different from other girls, but she was really nice to him, everyone actually. In the beggining you remeber Tidus flirting with two girls. Their looks to begin with, he didn't even know them.
When Tidus found out that Yuna is going to die,
he seriousely felt sorry for her. Okay I guess what I'm saying is that Yuna shouldn't fall for Brother because:
1) He's her cousin
2) He's a pig... -_-

And that scene I told you about, Yuna was listening to Barkeep's and Brother's conversation. That's where Darling came in, but that's a different story

Lol, I had completely forgotten about this part in the game... It is creepy, I mean Buddy was creepy enough, but this was sick.

This definitely goes down as one of those... “What the hell were they thinking?” Moments.
 
I noticed it in the game and quite honestly, I feel unaffected by it. Why most of you are all going "ew" is understandable considering the way you were raised and what culture you grew up in.

I'm rather open-minded and acceptable of these things. In Japan, you have incest mangas all over the place; Angel Sanctuary to name a bigger title. In that, it was a love (I mean love-love) between brother and sister which is much closer than between cousins. So it's more than likely socially acceptable in Japan.

Now, why didn't Square cut out or at least edit the fact that Brother loved Yuna? Wasn't America and the UK often the ones whining about how the game can't come out fast enough for you?

Translation alone and voice acting takes a damn while. Add on that the mere thought of changing the cut scenes and the dialogue will waste even more of Square's precious time to devote to FFX-2 at that time or their future games. Also, I guess Japan just likes sharing its social culture with us. :)

I guess for most of you, anything outside your comfort zone or social norm must automatically be considered disgusting or gross. You have your right of opinion, and so do I.

i heard somewhere that in the jappy version of FFX rikku has a crush on her too O_0
 
I find it kinda funny when he compliments her and opens his arms to try and hug her and then rikku steps in. I wanna see Yuna say "Lets have fun big boy" to see his reaction
 
I think that if Yuna and Rikku are cousins that doesn't signify that Brother and Yuna are cousins to. Maybe Brother is Rikku's cousin from her mother side and yuna is here cousin from her father side, so they are not cousins (yuna and brother). But thats my interpretation.

I didn't really understand waht you mean but Brother and Rikku are brother&sister. They are Yuna's mother's brother's children so they are connected somehow which makes it a disgusting crush.
 
I think it means 'love' as in family love. Brother doesnt know very good english so i think that he doesnt 'love' Yuna and that way... cause that would be really sick.
 
Well, when looking at X-2, it's pretty obvious that his intentions are more than platonic. Although I would think that incest in Al Bhed culture is less taboo considering that their pool of possible marriages had been quite small as a people excommunicated from general society.

But incest or not, Brother is just plain nasty to me.
 
It couldn't be a family love. There was this hidden scene where Brother was talking to Barkeep and he said that Bother likes the Yuna that's ignoring her.

Brother: I don't get it. Yuna seems to always be looking into the distance. And always her back is to me. I like this Yuna, even more than the Yuna that is facing me.

Brother: Yeah... No, no no no. It's not that. I love her.
Barkeep: Shpeak for your shelf shonny?

LOL this is one of the things that really bothered me about X2. Seriously, everytime Brother flirted with Yuna all I could do was groan. XD

And if you get the sad ending, it is especially creepy.

Yuna: Brother higher!
Brother: Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaa!
Yuna: Brother faster!
Brother: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Yuna: Brother! even higher!
Brother: Waaaaaaahoooooooooo!

LOL try just listening and not even watching.

the only reason could be that brother doesnt know that yuna is his cousin, coz he doesnt seem very clever
