I found an easter egg in my fourth play through the game. If you go to Lindblum, then go to the weapons shop in the business district, there is a huge sword on the wall. If you go over to that sword you get the action exclamation point and Zidane says: I'll blacken it to stop spoilers.;)

Something along the lines of: "I remember a guy with spikey hair that carried around a sword like this."

I just thought that was kinda cool, what do you guys think?

Ya know, I think I remember seeing that, but I'm not for sure, and I never made the connection. Now I'm gonna have to play through it again just so I can see it for myself.

Ah yes I noticed that the first time playing the game, but at the time I hadn't played Final Fantasy VII yet. But after playing Final Fantasy VII and then playing IX again sometime afterwards, I noticed it and had a laugh. I thought it was kind of cool, though I really didn't think it was an easter egg rather than a little cameo of Cloud.

I remember reading that. I thought it was kinda cool that they'd hint at Cloud in the game, although how the IX and VII world would connect - I have no clue. Or maybe that's not what they were implying. Ah, who knows.

I only made the connection on my second playthrough because I hadn't played ff7 on my first playthrough but it was kinda odd how they include these little references to other games.

there is an old man in one of the air carraigeways that is called Locke who we know as the treasure hunter from ff6
there are too many references like this in many ff games.

there is a lance in memoria that is called kain's lance for instance

I remember that bit too, its a great connection imo to my two fave overall FF games of the entire series - I love it. XD

FFIX has dozens of references to previous FF games throughout it. Garland being another example. It's seen as the "send off" game as it was the last one for PS1.

Yeah i saw that my first time playing the game! Got the connection straight away. Hey, does anyone else think that the music for Garland is the same for NORG in VIII?

The references are endless in IX. I noticed the cloud/sword bit but there are others. Gogo is mentioned in it, he is from ff6. There are loads

the song from the active time event in evil forest called orchestra in the forest was from ffvii cloud parade apparently in ffx in the scene where tidus is looking at luca amazed if you listen closely you can hear the music from near the begining of ix in the CG just after vivi and puck sneak in to watch the play theres also that big alexandria castle statue in luca

Wow, I really neeed to replay this game, Iv only played it twice and that was when I first bought it o_O
Don't rememeber noticing any of this stuff lol *is dumb* Once I complete VIII i'l get onto it I think.....

It mentions that in the offical guide. No big woop.

I thought that was really neat, though it didn't really register to me at first (yeah, I'm kind of slow) but I don't think that was the only reference to the other games, though this is the only one I've found

I prefered the IV cameo of Boko.
The black mages get a chocobo and call it Bobby Korwen - Eiko asks why they have to call it its fall name all the time.

As for that VII one, I never noticed.

- sweet -

There are so many references noticed when you're really paying attention... at first the only one I noticed was the "no cloud nor squall" line, but then when I decided to start looking for the references, they were everywhere.
