Actually, being a fan of both and knowing what they can do... I'd have to say Link.
Many of the Zelda games include items that make him invulnerable. In A Link to the Past's case he had a cane that made him invulnerable as well as a cape that made him invulnerable, invisible, and intangible to enemies (so he could walk through them, but still attack them if he wished). That's not including the medallions that generally destroyed everything on the screen at once by doing things like engulfing everything in flames, controlling the wind (as well as some sort of energy), and causing a massive earthquake.
In terms of strength he easily outclasses Zack as well, Ocarina of Time allowed him to lift massive stone slabs over twenty feet tall and five feet thick (bare minimum). In Link's Awakening an item he obtained was described as allowing him to lift a whale. In the oracle games he couldn't have been more than ten years old and he could wield a sword that was at least twice as long as he was tall (It was a secret item, but it's there).
This is without mentioning fairies that resurrect him (or magic potions in the case of Link's Awakening), some games allowed him to carry more than four that would take effect the instant he died.
Other abilities Link has displayed are spiting himself into four separate Link's (at will in Minish Cap), change his size (the size of skyscrapers in Majora's Mask and the size of an ant in Minish Cap), and transform into various powerful creatures (and I'm not talking about Wolf Link, although that is there).
All of this isn't even mentioning the time traveling capabilities he has. Ocarina of Time may have only allowed him to travel through time in a certain place, but Oracle of Ages allowed him to travel through time wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted. It wouldn't be difficult to say... Stop someone from being born.
I could go on, you'll find his aresenal is unbelievably large.
I recommend playing all the games a character is in before you judge their power. Otherwise you're making a judgment in ignorance.
EDIT: Oh, and as I said in the Mario thread. Pitting a FF character against an non-FF character in a Final Fantasy forum is rather... Foolish. There will be far more FF fans than fans of the other character, seeing as the forum REVOLVES around FF.

Link hell yeah! Vladislak already stated the main reasons for my choice here XD Zack can use materia but I believe Link would win. He has a lot of items that aid him in different ways, lending him different powers and abilities. He can even travel trough time!

All Zach has is a huge sword. Link has a vast array of weaponry which he knows how to use very well. Not to mention Epona.
Zach might have been a member of Soilder, but Link has traveled across Hyrule multiple times. Also many other places. Hell, he's even dealt with Ganondorf many times, and always won. Zach couldn't even deal with Sephiroth.
This is no contest at all. Link would demolish Zack in a matter of seconds.

If he needed to stop meteor, his best chance would be to play the "Oath to order" song from Majora's Mask, seeing as it was able to hold up the moon when it was about to crash into the earth.
But Sephiroth and Meteor aren't the topic anyway.
P.S. I'm fully aware that the hydro pump comment was probably sarcasm on your part, but it fails to contribute to the topic at hand aside from critiquing other peoples comments.

Link has used probably 10 swords, so he could dual wield two and use the rest as projectiles. He could use his boomerang to smack Zack in the face. Bombs could easily set him on fire and separate a limb or two. Plus his spin attack can knock him away.
