Help Yuffie - Stolen Materia Sidequest

Okay, I've followed Yuffie to Wutai and have gotten past the switch part (as this is what people usually have a problem with) and I am up to the part where you talk to her father for the first time. The only problem is.... He isn't there.
I've tried reverting back to old saves, exiting and re-entering the dojo thingy and even Wutai but can't get it to work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
 
When you enter the town, Yuffie will see you and run away. Head to the upper-left corner of town. There's a path there that leads to a large courtyard and a pagoda. Enter the building to your right and walk along the hall until you arrive at a room with a man sleeping inside. Enter it and talk to the man. He is Godo, Yuffie's father. Keep talking to him until he stands up, at which point Yuffie will appear and then be chased away by her father.

If you follow Yuffie, you'll find that she has disappeared. Before leaving this area, enter the room next to Godo's and examine the right wall. There is a hidden panel there that will open, revealing a passage. At the end of the passage is a chest containing the Hairpin (a weapon for Red 13). On your way out, go into the room to the left of the entrance. You can go there and spend the night for free, but if you examine the scroll on the left wall, it will lift up, revealing another passage. The chest at the end of this passage has a Magic Shuriken inside it.

Youve done what Spawn said right talked to him? or is he not there to talk to at all?

Also the Switch part? you mean where Yuffster steals the materia?
 
Umm there is a switch you have to push that drops a cage on you characters. I think you may need help from there. If I remember correctly you have to go across the street where you found Yuffies father sleeping. There is a bell you have to ring. After that a door will appear and you need to enter it.
 
Ah.... I have figured out the problem. It seems there was a bug and Godo would never appear in that room, instead I would have to skip that part and ring the bell to find yuffie inside *As you usually would after meeting Godo*
All the same, thank you for your posts they were appreciated.
 
just quick it would probably be in your best interests to save the pagoda challenge (that tiered building of boss fights) until after you've got all the enemy skill materia in the game (3 i think). One of the bosses uses Trine which isn't avaliable later on.
