FFX-2 YRP: Who's your favorite?

I agree with you lot. Paine is the one reason that prevented me from losing all hope about the Eternal Calm. She was the one whose personality I could relate to while I was watching Yuna and Rikku deteriorate.

Yuna in FFX was a quiet, polite girl. She was courageous and proved to be a strong, resilient character who was decisive when it came to being a summoner. She didn't fear her own life. No. She only wanted to bring smiles to Spira, just as her father had done. In X-2, I obviously blame her Al-Bhed cousin for her descent into a generic girl. Her clothes become so.....skimpy. What is that long mouse tail coming down from the back of her head? Thanks to Rikku, Yuna tries to copy her demeanour in an attempt to sound "cool(?)". For example: "Disasterrific", "Oh, poopie". That is not her character. It was painful to watch her do that. Thankfully she redeemed herself in the Thunder Plains.

AS FOR RIKKU......how in the name of Holy Maesters did she become even more annoying? She was at least tolerable in X. She was serious and genuinely cared about Yuna's wellbeing. In X-2, I despise her Thief getup. Was that a practical piece of clothing to wear in Gagazet? I despise how hyper she becomes. She may be "fun", but when someone is as hyper as Rikku, she needs urgent taming. In Gagazet, her "SNAKES, SNAKES, SNAKES!" line during battle is an evil culprit.

Thankfully Paine isn't forced or annoying. She seems usually irritated at her cohorts and rightfully so. I would groan if they drag me into a very unnecessary mission that contributes next to nothing to her overall purpose in the story. She may not have been the prettiest character, but she certainly packed the physical power to make even Auron squeal. Also, she survives a bloody bullet shot! She survives it easily and lives to huff about it another day!

 
Oh, this is hard.

Well, Paine's out right away, because I just didn't care for her. She was too emo, and odd acting for me. She did have an awesome history, though, so that almost counts for something.

Yuna, oh what can I say, I love her, but she's such a doormat throughout most of FF10 and FF10-2. She's too nice and kind.

Rikku, it would have to be you, but only because of her limitless energy, and her positive attitude. I think she sorta has the best parts of Paine and Yuna, in that she's nice, but she's also not a door mat.

Rikku and Yuna both in some shape or form have changed in X-2 and Paine I thought was cool. She didnt talk a lot- didnt have to Rikku took care of that. Yuna was too nice in both X and X2 whileas Paine was sort of the opposite of them both and thats why i think she was made which is good because you have to have some line. I personally thought paine was the one holding everything together and she very smart. :-)
 
Yuna essentially pulled an Olivia Newton John/Sandra Dee transformation between X and X-2. An awful and unfit deterioration from a previously bland character into a would-be indelicate doll.

Paine annoyed me simply because I don't tend to like that type of character. I found her to be dull and not in any way "mysterious" or intriguing. Just someone who needed to take some tylenol PM and go to sleep so she can wake up on the right side of the bed.

So then there was Rikku. She receives a lot of hate--most of which is probably warranted--but I actually like her. She wasn't far removed from her roots, like Yuna, but I found her more interesting than Paine. So she wins.
 
My fave's gotta be Rikku, just because I've liked her character since X and I think it gets better in X-2, I love the MGS line on mount gagazet. Plus her costumes allmost allwayts look the best to me.

Plus I've always kind of liked her personality because of the way she is caring but still kind of has that whole "I still want to have fun with my life" side to her, even though they're supposed to be saving the world or whatever.
 
Yuna, because she is so beautifully sophisticated, yet funny...In her own goofy way <3
But I love Rikku too, her Tom-Boyish ways are just too cute :3
 
Rikku of course shes the one that kept the team balanced in personality. First Paine way 2 gothy in my opinion they already had lulu y make another gothy chick? Then Yuna shes always undecided about things and always sad about tidus. They actually needed Rikku she was the only 1 that was normal to me maybe a bit to hyper but come on its Rikku:D
 
I can't say I dislike any of them. But I have to go with Yuna. I felt she grew a little since X and became a little stronger. She's more upbeat and carefree in X-2. But she's still the same Yuna from X and personality hasn't changed all that much just because she got a makeover.(Her clothes shouldn't effect her personality.) So my vote goes to Yuna. But I guess that doesn't explain why she's my favorite out of YRP, does it?XD

Her transformation from doormat to independance was fabulous
i can relate to that
always being used, fucked about, to just getting to a stage where you have to take a stand

Yuna, since FFX she was my favorite, I can't say I like Rikku too much, she iked me, but I didn't hate her she just seemed like a carbon copy of Yuffie -- From the double letter in her name all the way to her clothing ;)
 
i think yuffie was more of an asshole than rikku, with the thieving and the couldn't be arsed attitude, i think riku was generally a great laugh and such a fun character

i burst out laughing at the end of chapter 1 in kilika when she came out with "oooooh pooopie" i thought she was hilarios xD second only to Yunie
 
I go with Yuna first,then Paine,then Rikku.
Rikku was alot cooler when she was younger which is weird..
 
I say Yuna. :D

Rikku can be really annoying sometimes and Paine isn't very noticeable.
 
Although I'm not really amazed by any of the characters I'll go with Rikku since she actually seems the most "complete". What I mean by that is both Yuna and Paine have way to many flaws in them. Paine is a very stereotypical badass character that doesn't really do too much in terms of the plot, we get a few obligatory "look I have feelings too" moments but they're to be expected. Yuna strikes me as a bit of a schizophrenic in X-2 as she's constantly switching between laid back and utter panic, maybe that's what the intention was but I don't find it very appealing. That leaves me with Rikku who, guess I have my gripes with as well but she has a bit more about her than Paine and isn't quite as weird as Yuna.
 
I must say Yuna :P After Tidus dissapearance she changed her hairstyle and everything ... And she kinda look similiar to Tidus :P And when she is in Warrior dresspshere she holds Brootherhood and moves like Tidus which is actually cool, you know ;p

I'm actually surprised Rikku has a major lead over the other two. Usually people who play X-2 complain about how annoying Rikku was.

I think I already participated in this thread before but I'll say again that I chose Yuna. :)
 
I enjoyed Paine's style, but Rikku's character progression. The way that the game played, it didn't really need for Rikku to be the same character that she was in FFX. If she was the same person, then there would have been 2 people with the same personality, and that would have taken more away from the depth of the game. Yuna was a lot like Rikku from FFX, so of course Rikku had to have a newer personality, and I think it worked out to be pretty okay.
