When we are new to something, usually we are not so good at something straight away. It takes practice and time to get the hang of something. So basically the question is

: How much have you improved since you first started playing your very first Final Fantasy Game ?

Started playing Final Fantasy when was eleven. And honesty was so bad. Failed to get passed the first mission several times, because thought that Jessie was going to save herself.

Later on failed half- way through the game when got up to the
Gi Tribe the Crayon. Because thought." Oh, we don't need to level up anymore, because Summons will just defeat everything.."

Then only later to notice that terrible mistake and improve.

Hmm, first FF i ever played was VII and that was when i was like 9 or 10.. So i didnt even get the concept of what to do i just ran around and got into battles, and constantly hit "X" until of course i tragically died. But now, some 4 or 5 years later i can play almost any game whether it be FF or not, and understand everything well and do it right away.

I played FF7 first, and I sucked really bad.... I kept dying on the scorpion robot at the begining, not realising that you could use potions or anything.

It took me ages to beat that thing.. Months even.

Once I did, I finally got the hang of it and was able to carry on with the rest of the game.

Once thing I have gradually changed with over the years though is that when I started I'd run from every battle, get to a boss, get slaughtered, then wander about fields with a depressed face fighting momsters to level up.

I've learned now to fight in every battle where it is likely, or possible that you will win, therefore you level as you go, and it is a lot easier to do, and takes the pain out of it. So I can say I have improved as a player in that respect.

well.....i started when i was around 12. my friend made me play X. i was BARELY beating monsters untill IT came. the crawler. it beat me untill i begged the screen to stop showing me the genocide of my characters. then i quit downright and said "lets go back to basics, FFI. did not play two mins untill the game hit the ground outside my house having thrown it outside the window. FFII-VI had the same fate. i skipped VII because i could not find it.then i played VIII. this was my rebirth into Final fantasy. it was the first one i actually beat and enjoyed. then i re-did X and actually knew what i was doing and beat it easily and now here i am. this story is much longer(Involving VII, crisis core and others) but you are probably sleeping and have not reached this far, so i will stop:)

I sucked. But not tremendously, just enough to barely skid by. I started with VII after a few tries, beat the first boss. Then go lost as to where to go. (keep in mind i was 7 at the time) Fast forward 2 yrs and i started playing IX. Wasn't horrible at it. As i progressed with IX i got better and started using abilities more wisely. Not to the extent that i was like, "oh im gonna need this so equip it." But more of, "it could come in handy to have available" mentality. I'm sure if i would play IX again, id do much better then i originally did.

I first played FFVII, which I borrowed from a friend. Lucky for me, I played the first half-hour at his house, and he gave me a very brief tutorial on what to do. It was the first time I had ever seen levelling and experience points in a game, so it wasn't quite sure what it meant. I played this and Pokemon Red/Blue at roughly the same time though, so I got to grips with it quick enough.

Since first starting, I've gotten much better at forward planning, and always took the time to have little levelling sessions, for items and gil and much as the levels. I also know how to balance my party now, so I can be ready for anything.

Once you've played 1 FF you can play them all

Well I also started on Final Fantasy VII and played the game until I had everything figured out. I only started improving though when I played other games in the ff franchise. I learned to use status spells effectively and also to stock up on eye drops echo screen ect.

For me, the first time I played FFVII (which was my first ever FF game and second game I had ever played), almost everything about the game utterly bewildered me and for the first 5 hours I was just walking around aimlessly pressing O, stumbling pathetically from one fight to the next, not combining my Materia properly, and frequently dying. Every time I beat a boss I felt like I had achieved something miraculous, and in a way, given my inexperience, I sort of had. It wasn't until about 1/2 way through the game until I really began to start combing my Materia more efficiently and enjoying the game more. The second time I played through the game, it was obviously a lot easier, and knowing all the little secrets in advance helped me, like getting Big Guard and Aqualung before Cosmo Canyon and pressing R2 and L2 to win chocobo races. FFVIII, was made easier, with the experience I had from FFVII, but that didn't make the Junctioning system anymore easier to grasp and it took me about 15 hours until I became acclimatized to the new system. FFIX, same story, having played VII and VIII helped a little, but it still took me a while to acclimatize to the new system. Basically, because every FF game is distinctively that bit different and unique from the last, it takes me a while to acclimatize. Though, playing previous FF games has taught me to avoid certain monsters, like T-Rex's and Marlboro Plant's, so I guess having that knowledge in my arsenal comes in handy every now and again.

My first was FFVII and I sucked so bad, it was a wonder I ever even made it to the end...I could beaT Sephiroth though, I ended up restarting, I completely just, MISSED things, I even missed out Gongaga, I had no idea it was even there. Im pretty sure someone at school had to tell me where to find the key to the ancients aswel

It was shameful, I just plodded through, no final limits or weapons for anyone or anything :gonk:

I've definately improved now though, since learning from that game and figuriong out that you have to EXPLORE and stuff , before that I was a sonic/Mario playwer, how was I to know it wasnt just linear, the idea of going where I fancied when I had the air ship didnt even cross my mind xD

So now, I try to stick my nose everywhere, examine anything that looks suspect and take the scenic route and shit wherever avaiable, my epic fail taught me to explore :wacky:

I have always been an RPG fan so I wasn't so bad at FF when I first started but i wasn't nearly as good as I am today. The first one I played was VII and I was decent but didn't really use my materia to its full potential. I only equipped my All materia to my damaging materia like lightning and fire but now I use it mainly on my Restore and Time materia. I also check around EVERYWHERE to find items that i never found before and do all the side quests I can.

Aside of playing FFs for fun, I play them in order to improve myself.
As I started playing, I wasn't using most of the special abilities and simply was doing attacks and magic. One of the most important things I want to improve about my playing style, is that I'll use effectively every ability that the FF series offer:

I try to learn as much as possible from any FF I play:

FFXII - Probably learned the most important things from it:
1) Searching a lot for items
2) Spending some time on training
3) Doing as many side quests as I can
4) Using the Steal skill

FFVII - Learned that it is important to explore the a lot, because there will always be things you won't find anyway. As well I learned that Ultima is the strongest black magic and how to effectively use monsters' skills.

FFVIII - I learned to not relay on the summoning too much, both because it is annoying to use it repeatably and it isn't necessary the best.
I finally started using the Limit Break attacks more often.
As well as got used to using the Scan ability during battles.

FFIX - For the first time used some special status skills, like Auto-Life.
And used Osmose for the first time as well.

FFX - Finally stopped to afraid of the Reflect magic (I was always afraid that it won't work when I need it... don't know why :wtf:) and used it against bosses. From now one I'll use it more often :).

Guess there are still more things I must improve about my playing style, like challenging the Weapons (Omega, Ultima and etc) and using the Mime ability (or how ever it is called in each game)

The first RPG I played was FFVIII when I was 13 or so. I think I got to about the third disc and probably didn't get the junction function down too well.

The second RPG I played was Chrono Cross which was SO much easier and taught me the fundamentals which I applied to FFVII which I played next, and beat, then FFVIII, which I beat as well.

Originally I always sold weapons and armor after I upgraded, not paying mind that some absorbed elemental attacks or prevented status effects. That sucked in certain dungeons.

I think I've been pretty good with all of them from when I started playing them around the age of 11 or 12? Like doomsickle, I did have a little problem with junctioning on FFVIII, but that's all that I can remember.
