What is your ideal hero/heroine? Someone quiet, yet couragous? Tough, but gentle or cocky and powerful?

I like several different heroes/heroines. They range from Snake to Dante, Lara Croft to Yuna. I couldnt pick one.

I like a varity then I guess. Squall is the miserable loner who saves the day, doesnt really appeal to people. But I like him. However Zidane annoys me as he wants to help everyone! Im not saying thats bad, but I wouldnt be rushing off all the time to save someone.

As far as videogames go, I tend to prefer characters who don't say a whole lot, but are highly knowledgable skilled killers. Kratos (Tales of Symphonia), Auron, and Vincent are such characters.

I also like humorous characters who bring some laughs to a game.

I like heroes that are risk takers and live on the edge who always up for a new adventure i cant be with a hero whos quiet or clam like eeyore from pooh ( i know its somethin difrrent) i dont understand why girls when i went to high school loved eeyore hes a DEPRESS DONKEY lol but w/e

I like my heroes who are a bit on the quiet side, knowledgeable about things in life and doesn't say, "Okay, let's go and save the earth!". I find those traits so much more interesting and realistic than your typical happy-go-lucky kind of guy.

Same with heroines. Quiet but knowledgeable. I want her to be actually independent too - someone who can take care of herself and not play the role of a damsel in distress.

I like the guys who are more laid back, the ones that tend to cheer up other characters but have eventually have that repaid back to them when they get depressed. Also, if their perverts or cowards that's a plus. Maybe because that's closer to my own personality, or maybe just because that's basically describing Zidane, but I find those characters fun to play.

Heroines - I like Buffy. She just kicks arse. I like that she doesn't need to be rescued because she is strong enough to take care of her self

As for hero, I love the stong silent type. I much prefer the triats of Squall Cloud & Auron over the likes Tidus & Vaan.

Heros: I like several different types, really. In my RPGs I like best the down to earth, upbeat ones like Zidane and Locke. I can actually relate to heros like that more than I can some spikey-haired emo. But in other games I do like the badass types too, such as Kratos or Dante (and for the record, Auron is NOT a badass).

Heroines: good god, I didn't know anyone still used this word. But anyway, I like a couple types too. I'd say Garnet and Yuna are some of the best out of the quiet lot. They weren't strong physically, but they were brave and tried to keep their chin up. And Garnet was probably the perfect type as far as princesses go; she wanted to explore the world and learn about it and didn't mind mingling with commoners, whereas Ashe was just a bitch to commoners and had no interest in sightseeing or anything.

I'm also getting very tired of these "badass" female types showing up, like Ashe and Lightning. For one, they look manly. Secondly, Celes and Agrias were much better badass females. They could be nice girls, but when it came down to business they'd kick your ass in a heartbeat. No nethicite, no man-jaws, no swiss-army gunblades.

As main characters, I prefer either a bland 'silent protagonist' who doesn't show much personality, or a character that you can create yourself.

I like my heroes to have a fun side to them, whilst knowing their goal and that they can be serious when needed.

When it comes to heroines, I prefer that they be a bit more reserved and that they don't play the damsel in distress act. It's kind of annoying. I'd like to think that the heroines can be a bit more a mature and in control, rather then having to have someone save them every two seconds. >.<

I like my heros/heroines to actually care about their comrades and that do not always have the spotlight. One thing that annoys me is when the hero/heroine is super special, the main party is always concerned about them, and when they are in danger, it's the whole world's business and the party will do what ever they can to save that character even if it means risking the life of the entire world... yeah

I dont' mind if the hero or heroine is the strong and silent type or even badass as long as they are not an ass in the process. (I hate badass characters that treat everyone weaker than them like crap)

I also don't mind the quiet white mage character, because healers are important and a dangerous role (play an MMO with pvp and you'll understand D: ) They just need somewhat of a backbone (And that doesn't mean they have to have a strong physical attack, they just can't act like a total damsel when captured, lol and you know that is inevitable) While I loved the game Lunar, I was very annoyed everytime Luna would yell "Alex save me!!!" Seriously be strong! I acutally do like the "nice" girls.

And also, the heroines can't run off to do something on their own, end up getting captured, and then scream for the main hero to save them <.<

Definitely! This always irritates me so much. One instance in particular was in FFVIII when Rinoa
ran off during the assassination attempt on Edea and got captured, and Squall and Irvine had to save her
:rage: Did she not expect that to happen? I mean I guess she didn't actually scream for them to help her, but still...:gonk:

As far as heroes/heroines, I prefer the humble ones who aren't afraid to make sacrifices or laugh at themselves from time to time. TBH most of my favorite characters in stories are not the leads, but the supporting characters; however there is one hero in particular I can think of who fits my ideal description somewhat: Frodo from Lord of the Rings. He was from a completely peace-loving, humble race of people who were terrified at the slightest unusual things, and he had (as far as I know) no combat training whatsoever before he went out into the world. However, he was determined to take on the monumental quest of saving the world no matter what the price, and even though he was constantly thrown into life-threatening situations, he never gave up and went back to the Shire. And he wasn't some buff, imposing figure either; he was meek, clumsy, and not immune to the call of the "dark side," which made his accomplishments even more impressive once he sorted everything out. I guess I could say it's the unlikely heroes that I love, just as long as the entire story doesn't revolve around their unlikeliness.

When it comes to what I want in a hero/heroine, I don't want them to be the overly angsty type (seen too many of those). I want someone with a strong personality who isn't willing to bow down to evil so easily, yet at the same time, I want them to think about what's best for their comrades, and make their decisions accordingly. A thinker, basically. Protagonists can't just be all tough physically, they need a well trained mind, too. I'm tired of seeing an idiot wannabe hero charge into battle without thinking, yet for some reason, miraculously win. It just doesn't happen like that. Also, I like the hero/heroine who isn't constantly boasting about how strong they are, then get their ass kicked later on. I'd prefer someone who likes to stay on the sidelines, but jump into battle immediately when things are getting hairy. When you beat the enemy, THAT'S when you get bragging rights (though I'd still prefer it if they were modest).

Be it male or female, I like the quieter, but knowledgeable ones myself more too, I personally think for coolness factor alone, Auron (Final Fantasy X) is one of the coolest characters out there. ;)

Calm, quiet, wise. Three good traits, those who can't keep their mouths shut are bound to say something stupid every now and then, characters like Zidane really bug me tbh, but the Lightning character in Final Fantasy XIII is the coolest female video game character I've seen in some time, Zero Suit Samus is also very good in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. :P
