i cant seem to get into the Henne mine. i cant find the fallen solders to give up a potion. i have found both chocobo paths to the entrace but when i get there the guards tell me to leave. is there any way to resolve this

You've been to Garif-ville right and done the part of the story which relates to that. You've also been to see the Veira as well?
Because they tell you to go to the mines, if you've visited both of them then you should have no problems.

And, after you've done that, there should be a wounded soldier in the small clearning before the path to Golmore Jungle, who'll give you that Chocobo in exchange for a potion.
