Fei,Citan,Bart.....(sigh).Talk about a battle system I wish could be revisited!!!I would love for Square to bring Xenogears to the PSP.I still pop in the soundtrack now and then and I'm immediately transported there.Anyone else love it to death?

I wish they would have finished the game, as the second disk was cut and barfed upon because of issues with the budget.

There were like...4 other towns to explore, and none of this storytelling crap to explain the story. I LOVE Xenogears, so much, it's one of the best RPGs ever created, and is currently tied at #1 with FFXII.

Really, people need to play this game. It's so beautiful.
It's also highly intellectual and has a lot of symbolism, it's.. just great.

Did you guys know that there were going to be 6 (or was it 5?) Xenogears games? The creator had prequels in the lineup for Xenogears, one of which that had Citan as a main character. Square entirely screwed up and cut the whole thing down to one game, then cut that game ...basically in half.

=/

It's so sad......Xenogears holds a special place in my heart, and I want another storyline without the fancy schmancy 3d.Give me the same style as Xeno, even if it's on DS!!!

This was one game that I wanted to play but never got the chance to. Played the demo and it was awesome.

Yes, Xenogears was good. I only got halfway through it before I bought FFVIII, so I never finished it. I'm the only one out of my group of friends that likes Chu Chu! I did watch a friend play through the second half, though. That's when I learned about all of the budget problems and the supposed prequels. Too bad it never happened. (You can even see a big difference in production value between the first and final anime movies.)

Aye, a friend of mine was in love with Xenosaga, even after playing Xenogears, but I just couldn't get into it. Xenogears was the eipitomy of what I was looking for in an RPG at the time (if it was other-than-FF fare). Saga was just lackluster, imo. 2 was even worse, and 3 (supposedly, I actually didn't play any past the first 3 hours of Saga: E1) was phenominal, for that reason I might give them all a shot.

Xenogears, I remember I first tried this game on a demo. I though the fighting system was pretty cool and the combo's were cool. Though when I played it, I found out the game had more than just on-foot fighting, gears played a big role also! I love this game, but I love the OST even more to this game.

I've played Xenosaga but not Xenogears
-does anyone know where I can get Xenogears cause i've been looking for it for a while now.

God I miss Xenogears.....and I don't have a PSP cause I'm poor D: God hates me >_o

I got excited when I heard about about Xenosaga cause I thought it'd be similar. Boy was I wrong %D Xenosaga sucked.

Well it turns out that Namco couldn't get the rights to publish a new Xengears game. Because Square doesn't want to give it up as they had planed. Saddly the closest thing to an updated Xenogears is the PSP version (which isn't so bad).

wait...there is really a version of Xenogears coming out on PSP????

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope this isn't just a rumor....between this and the redone Castlevania coming out I have a good reason to purchase a PSP now.

I'd feel a lot better though if someone provided a source that states that this is actually being done.

Xenogears is perhaps one of the most mature RPGs I've ever played. At times it really made you think and everything.

Lots of symbolisms too IMO. I liked it.

I miss Xenogears. One of the best RPG's of all times, in my opinion and from what I've heard I'm not too far off with that notion.

The storyline was absolutely compelling, the battle system was (kind of) easy to use, and you could use powerful attacks all the time. Too bad they didn't finish the game as was intended because of budget problems, but that still doesn't change the fact that it was good.

It ranks tops with me along with FFVII.
10/10

Xenogears is an example of a game with a great premise yet crappy execution. The story is fantastic but it has a hard time making up for the tedious pacing, over-abundance of random encounters, half baked platforming elements (urgh @ platform jumping) and a butchered second disk.

Not an bad game, but no where near as good as it could have been. If nothing else, it's important in that it led to a fantastic game like Xenosaga Episode III.

Although it's probably worth noting that since posting that my appreciation of XSIII has diminished somewhat.

Xenogears - If only there was another like it

Well it's been a long long long time since I've played this game all the way through, and have noticed alot of spin offs of the original including Xenosaga and the animated series, but nothing comes close to the original Xenogears.

To be honest, I'm not sure if anyone could come up with an original story or creative FMVS such as Xenogears had. It's comparable if not better than FFXII's FMVS.

The whole basis of the game was an age old adult topic. God or the lack of depending on how you look at it. I mean how cool is it that a game actually includes questioning of faith, God, prescense of Omni Gears and the unquenchable love between a man and a woman. (God and Goddess rather). Also not to mention the gameplay was entirely unique with the Combos/Deathblows system and switching between Gears/Man/Woman back and forth. Also they threw in the gnostic Cross (Nisan Cross) in this game was totally awesome. I have that same symbol on my back.

I just wish game creaters would pull their head out of .. you know where .. and start breaking away from the Norm and reverting back to old style RPGS.

Since we have similar a similar topic, I will merge the two threads together.

-Threads Merged-

Haven't exactly played this game yet but I've seen some screenshots and cutscenes on youtube. It looks interesting and I wanted to buy it on ebay, but time will tell.

That's probably my bad, I never saw the thread. Probably was archived?

Anyways Mitsuki, I highly recommend it if you played/liked FFVII or FFVIII. The FMVS in general are captivating all in itself, but to be honest it's the solid game play that got me involved in the first place.

The Plot is unlike any other, and I won't give any spoilers until you witness Fei and Elly. Just a heads up.
