X-men Origin: Wolverine

Gambit deserved more screen time. However, I've read some stuff up about Taylor Kitsch, and he said he's interested in doing more movies in the future. He also said that he wouldn't mind continuing the Gambit and Rogue romance in the movies, but doesn't want Gambit to be a tied-down character.. and would like to see him in casinos/pubs flirting with all the other females. I think they should show more of him before Rogue comes into the picture, anyway. And if that ever happens, they need to pick a different actress for her, because Anna Paquin fails at portraying the Rogue we all know.

Now, back to the movie. They failed with Deadpool big time, but I wouldn't let that effect the entire movie. The rest of it was pretty good. Emma Frost is pretty much only shown at the end of the movie(and maybe a couple snippets during the plot), but that's it.. and she doesn't say anything, either. I'm a bit confused as to what's accurate to the original X-Men and what's not.. but at least everything in the movie seemed to fit.

Saw this one last Sunday night, was very very good, lots of action and a much darker story, which I like. I was shocked to see that
wolverines "wife" had actually lived and totally played him
. The best part was obviously the end and I think most people would agree to that as well. Weapon XI was pretty bad ass, all that power... and he still lost...

At the end during the credits I figured like most game or movie endings the developers put in some kinda "cool secret ending" I thought, so I stuck around while all the suckers around me got up and left hehehe, sept for a couple hard core fans it seemed who stayed around talking about it.

Weapon XI wasnt dead!!!! ZOMG !!! and im not sure but i think he actually talked or whispered something the last couple seconds which means hes got a mouth now =p howd that happen? but if hes still alive how come u dont see him in the next 3 movies? would have been pretty cool but i guess they never had thought about it or it would have just ruined X-Men Origins. Maybe theres ganna be an X-Men 4?

Anyways I give this movie 9/10

I'm going to go see this movie soon, and I must say I'm pleased to see that so far, I've heard nothing but positive news about the movie.

I am worried that they'll mess up the continuity between the Wolverine movie and the X men trilogy, especially as Cyclops is in it. It would suck if that happens too, since the X-Trilogy is such a great series of movies ><

To be honest I was disappointed (however with that said I wasn't expecting much). The storyline was pretty boring IMO and the movie had some really lame moments.

One positive thing I can give the movie is the action scenes, I found them pretty impressive visually. But what made the movie so boring was that everyone knew that Wolverine technically couldn't die because:

A: The movie is a prequel.

and

B: He had that regenerative ability thing.

Even though people rarely expect the main character to die, it's still nice to see some sort of weakness. But Wolverine was too perfect. The movie felt rushed too, and the ending seemed to sudden.

But what really annoyed me wasn't the movie itself, but more so the movie experience. My friends and I walked into the wrong cinema, which was still showing Wolverine, but it started half an hour before the session we wanted. So we missed the first half hour of the movie. What's more is that we couldn't find 5 empty seats in a row so we ended up sitting in separate aisles.

That night failed so badly -__-

Also when the DVD is released, you get a different ending.

Somone picks up Deadpools head and he manages to shhh to the audience. Maybe he makes a slit for a mouth, I dont know. Ive been told this piece of info.
And Deadpool is getting his own movie and its Ryan Renollds whom will be playing him! So not all bad!

I've just got back from finally seeing this movie.

On the whole... Pretty ok....

Gambit was awesome.

The begining sequence was awesome.

Sabretooth was a lot better in it than I thought he would be.

The action scenes were awesome etc...

Some things peeved me off though.

Dominic Monaghan WAS in the movie.. But not as Beak afterall. They had him as Bolt instead... Which was a dissapointment. I was well looking forward to Beak in that movie :sad2:.

The biggest dissapointment to me is Deadpool.... He was fine as Wade Wilson etc... All was awesome during that.... But when he actually became Deadpool, AKA Weapon XI? WTF?
The "Merc with a mouth"... without a mouth? They turned him into a
remote-controlled-zombie! And had him get killed so easily?

That was a big dissapointment. I thought that when I saw him on the bed getting experimented on then that'd create his scars etc and turn him into the Deadpool I know, and turn him crazy etc.... But no!

Really? I hope that is true because I really want to see Deadpool done properly now. I have a bad feeling that the only reason they gave him
no mouth
is because they feel that having Deadpool's character would make the movies too crazy, as he'd be too awesome and messed up that it would make everyone else look odd. A pretty lame excuse really. I really hope they give
him a mouth
and give him an extra movie. I want to see what Ryan Reynolds can do as Deadpool, which frankly we didn't get to see in the movie.

So Deadpool ruined it for me sadly, but I really liked it as a whole. I'm not normally awkward with character changes in comic book films, but Deadpool is someone I hold dear to me, and seeing that thing at the end of the film made me feel "urgh" about it all.

Oh god, I watched this last night online...let me try to quell my nerd rage. They ruined so many damned characters, and had such STUPID STUPID STUPID moments, I mean like moments so stupid they insult the audience's intelligence.

My favorite example:
When Zero goes after Wolverine and eventually gets killed. Stryker is all HERP DE DERP I KNEW ZERO COULDN'T DO IT ONLY ADAMANTIUM BULLETS WILL WORK ON HIM *loads gun* Okay so um...if only adamantium bullets hurt him...why the fuck didn't you give them TO THE SNIPER instead of giving him normal bullets you knew wouldn't work?
I mean that's just like...I don't get it. How can you leave such an obvious, stupid plothole like that in there and not expect the audience to go "hey...wait a minute..."?

Another good example:
When Victor fakes the death of Logan's girl. Now, Logan has animal-like senses and he's sort of an expert tracker...so how the hell did he not realize the death was fake? I assumed the fake blood Victor planted on her was from that animal he beheaded in the forest, so uh...Logan should have been able to smell the difference. And see there were no deep wounds or anything.

Other stupid crap that pissed me off:

1. Cyclops. I hate his character, I really do, but he had NO purpose to be in this movie. He never encounters Logan when he's a teen, he was never kidnapped to be in the Weapon X program. Oh, and those eye beams of his? They don't melt stuff. They're basically cuncussion blasts, just big red shockwaves.

2. Deadpool. God...where oh where to start. Reynolds was good as Wade...for like the 10 minutes he actually got to talk. They actually shut him up. Wade is supposed to be half-insane and constantly cracking jokes and breaking the fourth wall...not be quiet.
And when they stitched his mouth closed...um...how did it stay closed? His regenerative power should have fixed that.
And making him an amalgam of everyone's different powers? That never happened. The only power he ever had donated to him was Logan's regenerative power. He's got Logan's strength and healing, that's it. His teleporting? That's supposed to come from a gadget his lackey makes for him. AND THOSE ARM KATANAS. WTF. Do they think the audience is fucking brain damaged? The katanas were entirely too long to just fit in his forearms, they would have had to retract past the elbows, and I saw no evidence of them being bendy blades. And they took away his guns! Why?

3. Gambit. I always thought Gambit's character was pretty neat, but they completely botched it up. They couldn't even find an actor to give him a Cajun accent...I mean how hard was it to find a guy who could attempt a proper accent? Not that I'm surprised at their inept casting abilities, that stupid girl they had play Rogue in the previous movies couldn't fake a southern accent to save her life. Also, Gambit was
NEVER IN the Weapon X program. They said he had escaped from it...um...no. He was a thief.
And what was with the lack of glowy eyes? They lit up for like a split second when he tossed a card at Logan.

4. Logan and Victor's behaviors. Am I the only one who thought it looked completely unnatural when Victor runs on all fours? And that scene
at the lab where Victor is choking Silverfox
and Wolverine busts in and just...stands there...crouched down making a pose and then goes VICTOR RAAAAAAAAAWRG. Just...why? Why would he do that? Dramatic poses work fine in comics...but just standing there like a retard posing while
your gf is being choked to death
is not very realistic.

5. Part of the ending. I'm not gonna complain about that bullet crap, this is just a small detail that made me go wtf.
When all the mutants are escaping, Silverfox is all I HAVE TO STAY HERE LEAVE ME BEHIND and we see that...um...for some unexplained reason, she has a hole in her gut and she's bleeding. K, that's fine, whatever. But 10 or 15 minutes later, after Victor and Logan and Deadpool are done fighting, and AFTER THE TOWER COLLAPSES...for some reason Silverfox is just sitting there on the ground just several feet away from Logan like she's been there the whole time. How in god's name did she get there? Why hasn't she bled to death yet?

6. Logan and Victor are not goddamn brothers.

7. So many missed opportunities of awesome. Logan lived in Japan for a time, had a wife there (and a son). They skipped that. During WW2, he actually fought alongside Captain America. What do we get? Some crappy flashback scene during the opening credits.

Ugh....ya know I could just keep going on and on about this movie, it made me so damn angry. I really don't understand why Fox just couldn't follow the source material, it's not that hard, and they would make more money if they were a bit more accurate...you know, cuz comic fans would actually hear good things about it. I'm just gonna stop here...so angry at this movie -__-

That's not just "someone", that
is Deadpool. Maybe that healing factor finally kicked in and opened his mouth too.

I agree with ya! Ryans work as Wade was excellent but when he was turned into Weapon XI
I was like what the heck? is this Mortal Kombat or X-Men? We got Baraka in the movie... So it was a little bit disappointing. And the irony, in the other three films
Cyclops would have Logan killed when he got saved by Logan in his youth. Of Course he doesn't know because he didn't see him...
But still it made it through at least but I believe they should revise their special effects since it can still be seen some flaws left on it in the theater version....

I think I liked the Mortal Kombat films better than this crap >_>

The special effects were kinda bad, too...glad you mentioned it cuz I forgot to rant about that in my last post xD

One thing that really annoyed me were Wolverine's claws. Not so much because of how fake they looked, but when they popped out of his hands. He doesn't have these metal...things...yet for his claws to slide through:

wolverine14.jpg

Now I'm not sure if they're inserted directly into his hands, or just are there to look cool...but either way, every time he pops his claws, they rip through flesh. Then when he retracts them, the flesh heals back until the next time his claws tear through. And when skin tears...guess what happens? It bleeds.

None of that in the movie. His skin just nicely parts to the side as the claws slide out. Not exactly a huge deal, but it's something that just really bugged me. On the other hand, maybe it is a big deal, because such a minor detail like that surely wouldn't have been much effort for them to put into the movie.

That movie is bloody awesome! It mad me fall in love with X-Men again. GOO Storm!!

Huh? She's not in X-Men Origins. She was originally going to be, but they cut her out, thank god. Not that I have anything against Storm, but this film just didn't need any more peripheral characters than it already had. There was no reason for Gambit or Cyclops to be in this, Storm definitely wouldn't have fit since she was living in Africa when Xavier recruited her into the X-Men. Not that I would expect the directors to care about her backstory, since they ruined everyone else's. Screwed up Logan's, screwed up Victor's, screwed up Gambit's, and had Cyclops in there which made no logical sense time-wise.

Blah. At least the movie had some funny moments, especially when
Wolverine calls Blob "bub", and Blob is all like "U JUST CALL ME BLOB?! *smack*
And will.i.am did a pretty good job as Wraith, which I wouldn't have expected.
