Well in almost every FF game a character dies so im asking - whos death is most memorable?

Im going to have to go with Aeris' Death - if you werent spoilt it was a huge surprise - and the music fitted in beautifully with the scene.

Please no flaming and use spoiler tags for the later FFs - as some people may not have had a chance to play them yet

I put other in case i missed out someone, i dont think i have but i havnt played FF12 yet -_- thats a downside to living in the UK - we get games so much later -_-

Definitely Aerith's death. Um, I know there's been other deaths in the FF series that I've played so far, but it wasn't as memorable because most of those that died aren't really main characters. Aerith actually gets to be in your party, and she was definitely one of the main characters.

Like I've stated before, the scene where she dies and Cloud carries her to the water is one of the most beautiful and sad scene in the FF series. Very popular too, IMO.

I was pissed with Tellah's actually. You had a awesome character and suddenly he dies in vain! I was more sad over his death then any other in the seires, even Aeris'.

It may not have been all flash like Aeris' but when ask what death do you remember from FF, I'd always pick Tellah.

Ah this is a hard choice! It comes down between Leo and Aeris. I really loved General Leo and was very upset when he died.

But since Leo wasn't a main character I'd have to go with Aeris. The first time I played the game I was very numb and actually expected her to come back. She also plays an important roll even after she dies.

Tidus. I'm one of the minority who actually appreciate Tidus and are a fan of him :P

You play through a game. This character loses his father, get's mentally abused by him, his mother dies, he is taken 1000 years into the future and finds himself scraping by on food. He is then abducted, forced to work, ends up becoming a guardian to a summoner, who will inevitabely die, meets a friend of his fathers, witnesses nothing but death, treason, betrayel and sorrow. You see him falling in love and, just when you think it's going to end with Yuna dying, HE disappears! Topped with a fantasmical piece of music, saying "Goodbye" to Tidus was the worst.

I know that most will pick aeris over the rest, but i thought Aurons death had more of a meaning than the shock value of aeris's demise. Plus auron's theme was awesome.

Your right aurons death was prettu good but i dont think it was as memorable cus people see aeris as innocent and gentle where as they dont see this in Auron

I actually thought Tidus's death was very memorable too. I really liked Tidus as a character. My friend unfortunantly spoiled the ending for me right before I got to the calm lands so it didn't come as a shock to me like Aeris's did.

I know Aerith's death was really heartfelt and whatnot, and it does come in number one in my book.

But Tidus's death at the end of FFX made for one of the best endings I've ever seen in an FF game. ^_^

Shin..you could actually save him - you just had to keep on feeding him the fast moving fish as much as you could.

Auron was already dead - he was just sent in the end. But that proved memorable for me, as I cried. Really died.

Also was crying/close to when..

Drace died in XII, Reddas sacrificied his life, when Vossler died, and when Cid was speaking to Balthier in his last moments.

Galuf's was cool and intense.

Spoilers

1 vs 1 battle him and exdeath.

end spoilers

I was on the edge of my seat.

I choose Galuf for his sacrifice he made while he still had the little energy left to protect the rest of the party. Probably my favorite character in FFV for how long you have him in your party.

auron! cause he had so much hp and was powerful :(
aeris had an effect on me as well but since she didnt have much hp and was weak in battles i didnt mind as much

I have to go with Aeris. All the other deaths were convenient plot twists. Sure Galuf sacrificed himself and that meant a lot to me, but he was shortly replaced by Krile. So I wasn't really bothered by it. All the other deaths accept FFIV and FFII (cause I haven't played them yet) came at very convenient and expected times. Same with in Final Fantasy XII. All the characters who die, you either know they're going to beforehand or it happens at the end. When Aeris died, you had no freaking clue if nobody had told you. When I played through, I knew she died but I had no idea when. And just the way they did it really had an impact on me too. The FMV was not as aesthetically good as it could have been, but the way it happened was perfect. He came out of nowhere. And when she was run through, it felt like I had been too. I was shocked. And then you watched her bead fall off and land in the water, which yes has great meaning, but at that time it was more important that it was just her "useless" materia given to her by her real mother. And then the battle that followed. It was sad. I remember barely being able to pick up the controller to fight Jenova: Life because I just felt cold. And that music to the Jenova battle... it all had a huge impact on me.

I'd have to say Galuf. I dunno why, but the idea of having an invincible character to fight off the main villain, it just appeals to me...

Second would have to be, yes, Aeris. Hearing her theme when fighting Jenova-Life... That really got to me. Doubly so if you give Cloud the Water Ring. An invincible character, to avenge to death of his companion and friend. ^^

Sure Galuf sacrificed himself and that meant a lot to me, but he was shortly replaced by Krile. So I wasn't really bothered by it.
See I don't really think Krile replaced Galuf at all except in a physical slot replaced character way. She jsut became a 4th member, not really his replacement.

Sort of reminded me of a mom who is in the middle of baking a pie but has to run to soccer practice to pick up her son. The daughter then agrees to take the pie out of the oven when it's done baking. The Mother did all the baking and the hard work, but the daughter finished the job by taking it out.

Galuf baked the pie. Galuf was originally part of the plot from 30 years ago when Ex-Death last terrorized the world(s). He felt he had the closest connection to the Ex-Death mission so he became a sacrificial character, and then his granddaughter filled the 4th character slot. I know as sure as hell that Krile, if that game was real-life, would not have even come close to comparing to Galuf's combat skills or his knowledge. She's just thrown into the mix to fill the remaining void left. She's a filler, not a replacement. Krile took the pie out of the oven and that was it.

Don't get me wrong, Galuf dying meant something. Even though someone told me before I got to play the game. But whether you use the word filler or replacement, someone still was put in that slot fairly quickly after he was gone. They kind of did the "Oh no! Galuf! Nothing can ever take your place! Nothing can ever fill this gaping hole in my heart and SOUL!!! ... ... ... ... Hey Krile, want to come and be our fourth to fill in for poor dead what's-his-face?" It just seemed way to sudden. Before Galuf even gets cold, they're already tossing Krile into the mix. She gets all his abilities and job skills, as well as the same elemental status. She may not take his place in your mind, but she certainly did fill his position pretty fast in the game.

Aeris on the other hand, her death was sudden. You never saw it coming. No one replaced her. She was the spunky rebelous girl who played a tease to Cloud and had a really mysterious past. Heck, you learned more about her after her death than before it. But when she was gone, she was gone. There was no one to take the pie out of the oven. You had a loss. One that wasn't replaced. If she was your main healer, if you had her leveled way up beforehand, you had a large gap to fill. You better start equiping everyone else with cure materia because you're healer just bit the dust. It affects you mentally, emotionally, and strategically when she dies. With Galuf, you can only really argue two of the three.
