Who here thinks FFXIII will be the longest Final Fantasy

I think it will be because it is on ps3 and xbox 360 and also the demo is 90 minutes so how long do you think this game will be?

On topic: It's highly likely, the games have been slowly getting longer ever since the series started.
 
I would really hope so. Story wise there is a possibility because of the Demo length. But overall I would venture a guess as to yes simply because of the side quest.
 
Due to the length of the demo which is supposedly just the beginning, I'm going to assume that it will be quite long story wise. Plus there will be other factors such as the amount of side quests which will also determine the overall length.

But given that this will be produced on Blu-ray and DVD-DL, FFXIII will be able to utilize a far greater storage capacity than the previous titles, so technically it is right to assume that XIII will be longer than the other FF's.
 
SaShman has pretty much said what i thought, to me next-gen FF will not only be the longest but the best, the graphics will be of a higher standard to it's predecessors. But all we can do is wait but i cant see Square taking this much time on a game and producing a poor game.
 
I doubt it. Most FFs had sidequests, treasures etc. to find. As I played FFXII I realized that the only long thing about the game was the leveling up and going around Ivalice.
So maybe it's going to be long, or maybe not... But it's not a sort of game that will keep you tuned in for long.
 
Wow, I had no idea it was a 90 minute trailer, that sounds amazing.

Longest? Well doesnt it depend on how long you made the others last? Sidequests make the games last longer and also leveling up can take up alot of time.

Although I get the feelig its gunna be ridiculously long, XII was long enough and that was on the PS2....so just think of the possibilities for THIS one D:
 
XII was ridiculously long. I'm still playing it cuz im trying to beat the Hell wyrm, but it's so hard to level up once your characters are all up at around 80. I also can't beat Yiazmat, but i hopefully will soon. I'm trying to get all of the ultimate weapons, but thats off topic. I'm really hoping for the 3 XIIIs to be long because if i'm going to be paying that much money for all 3 games, i want to at least get my money's worth. I'm not saying to fill the game with useless crap, but to put some substantial side quests and a well-developed, involved plot into the games. Personally, i love the FFs for the PSP. I bought a psp 3 years ago, but didn't get much use out of it besides Star Wars until the FFs came out, so i'm excited that a part of the Fabula Nova Crystalis will be on the PSP!
 
I generally think that it will be the longest one yet, do I care? No.
To me being longer doesn't necessarily mean it's good, take XII for example, it was amazingly long, yet it doesn't come close to the likes of IX, X etc.
Then there's Uncharted and MGS4, relatively very short games for next Gen but 2 of the best.

So why I would appreciate it being the longest ever, to me, the main focus is getting the story and character development right. :-)
 
Expanding on what Ryan said: XII is, in my eyes, the best title in the series and it's probably down to how long it took to develop relationships (Vaan doesn't count) and convey as much information about the environment and story as possible. As such, I'm hoping that XIII is equally long or moreso because I'm positive that a longer game leaves more room for all of the above criteria.
 
I hope it'll offer at least 200 hours or so (they started working on it AGES ago...).
If not, I hope it'll at least be the longest FF.

The fact that FFXII was one disc and FFXIII supposed to be more than one disc, gives me the hope it'll be a very very VERY long game.
 
well i hope its the longest in gameplay. but it seems alot of games i been playing lately have been putting to many movies in there games (like metal gear 4- like 4 hours of movie on it) which takes up alot of space the the disk, i hope this isnt the case for 13 as we been waiting forever
 
It certainly has the capacity to be the longest FFgame but htese soughts of number qeustions are kinda arbritary like so and so finished the game in so many hours its not a contest to see who finishes first that sort of mentality is sekf defeating I mean who says to themselves when playing a FFgame "I'm making excellent progress" but a for story based content it could have more than 1 disc so it really depends on the guys @ Sqaure
 
It will be the longest Final Fantasy title yet. Period.
The story alone will last for 50 hours, and even then you have to think about sidequests, leveling, download content and much much more. I'll reiterate my above post however, I don't care about the length as much as I do the quality.
 
I'm gonna be stupid and guess 60-70 hours worth of gameplay?

I'm personally a fan of RPGs that have tons of twists and have dramatic and emotional endings. *COUGH COUGH*FINALFANTSY8COUGH*COUGH*COUGH* Anyways, let's hope the game isn't $60-70, because THEN I'll be a bit P'Oed.
 
To tell you the truth, I expect it to be shorter or at least easier than the others. Newer games currently tend to get finished quicker than the older ones, BUT since FFXlll includes THREE discs it seems to be exceedingly large.
 
I really want it to be long. That way, I can have fun with the new protagonist for a long time. I want to enjoy the game for a long time. It seems that Square is putting a lot into the game, so I imagine that it may be very long. I just cant wait till it comes.
FF XII was quite long, and naturally, the next one should be long, too. I hope.
