Who do you picture playing the voices of FF?

Hey, just wondering how the other FF fans picture the English voices of all the characters in FF. I would like to start with, Laguna - now, I know that he already has a voice actor in Dissidia Duodecim, but no matter how hard I try, when I'm reading his text in both FFVIII and FFDD, I just feel like Nolan North would fit his character better! (in case some or all of you don't know who Nolan North is, he is the guy that plays Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series for PS3 - if you don't know who Nathan Drake is, however...nah, you know who he is, haha)

Now, what do you guys think? Does Laguna's English actor fit his character well? Or would you agree that Nolan North would be a better match? OR - do you think that someone else is better suited for him? And of course, any FF characters that you think should be voiced by a specific person, by all means, share your thoughts!!
 
You know, I've thought of this many times.

I don't think Steve Burton fit Cloud's character to well. It almost sounded country, and I think a bit more of a, manlier voice would fit. I don't mean lower or deeper, just fuller? It's hard to describe.

Tifa's voice was waaaay too soft. Tifa is the hard chick, a tomboy. She doesn't have a pretty soft voice. Not saying it's all low and husky, but not so soft.

Aerith's voice was perfect. Her voice in the game was just like in AC.

Oops I'm straying off topic. Now who would I think to act their voices...

Make Tifa's voice actor (don't know the name) do Rinoa. Would fit way better.

This may sound crazy, but I have always been fond of Lady Gaga's speaking voice and I think it would fit Quistis :lew:

 
Well...

To be honest, I think that Cloud's voice actor was pretty good - but that doesn't mean there couldn't have been someone better.

Tifa's voice actor is nice, but like you said, it really doesn't fit the 'tomboyish tough girl' role...but yeah, Tifa's voice actor would fit Rinoa real well, now that I think about it...

As for Lady Gaga's 'speaking voice' - I have no idea what that sounds like, lol - so, I can't really say one way or the other, regarding her playing Quistis...but while I want to hear who you think would be best for each character, let's try and keep the thought of who will play who in the future, a little realistic...I highly doubt that someone like Lady Gaga would agree to play the voice of some random video game character...

Final Fantasy isn't a random video game! The blasphemy! *gasp* But I get what you're saying. Would be pretty funny if suddenly all these big names started doing voice acting for FF games.
I honest to goodness thought the female lead in Meet Joe Black (Claire Forlani) was Yuna's voice actress. I actually checked on Wikipedia (it wasn't).
I don't pay much attention to major movie stars' voices in relation to video game characters, but if they ever do a remake of FFVI with voice acting, Mark Hamill HAS to be Kefka (before you say "Luke Skywalker?!", Hamill voiced The Joker in the Batman animated series, and was brilliant). He could do Kefka's maniacal cackles pretty well I think.

I didn't mean 'random' like that! Lol. But regarding who would play Kefka? If it's gonna be anyone, it would have to either be the person that plays him in Dissidia/Duodecim, or the guy that plays the Joker in Arkham Asylum...

Btw, going back to a recent topic - the voice of Tifa? After playing through Tifa's story in Duodecim, I think the English voice actress for her did quite well. I mean, sure, Tifa IS quite the tomboyish character, but she's still very sweet when she's not fighting - but man, when she fights, her voice gets a bit more serious and it fits her perfectly. Yeah, I'd say now that the chick that plays her in Advent Children and FFDD is just right for her. In FFVII, she's always soft and sweet. So, whether or not she's a tomboy, I think that her current voice actress is perfect. Merely because she can act sweet and nice, but also add some oomph to her role when need be...maybe you should rethink it a little bit more, Starstruck. Have you played FFDD yet?
 
I can see Will smith as barret in FFVII.Tifa's voice in dissida 012 wasn't so good.
Most of the charactersvoices in Final Fantasty are good.But i don't think lady gaga who'd go up to some people and say i wan't the job.

And i bet she was never heard of Final Fantasty.
 
Cloud and Tifa

I'm sticking with who they already have...I mean, Cloud's character is calm, quiet, and laid back - so, I think that a little monotone doesn't really hurt. I noticed that his VA seems to give him almost a...Brooklyn accent? Maybe? You can sometimes here it at the end of what he says. But I think that Cloud is fine the way he is - but if they find someone better, by all means, let's hear him!

As for Tifa...I really think that the woman playing her needs to work on her character a little more, but otherwise, she's fine too...

But moving on to another topic - so far, nobody's contributed to Laguna's VA! Do you guys think that it's fine the way it is? Or do you think someone else in particular should take the part? Me - I think that Nolan North should definitely play as Laguna...I mean, North is hilarious, and Laguna is a goofball, lol.

Also, something else that I've been wondering - did the voice actor who played Squall in the first Dissidia either change his voice a bit from 1 to 2? Or did Square Enix just get a new actor entirely? Because his voice is Duodecim sounds higher pitched or something...any comments?
 
I hate Steve Burton as cloud, he sounds too depressed and quiet and I've got a feeling that he only knows the Cloud from AC and Kingdom Hearts, also in Dissidia he made sound almost emotionless. Steve Burton would be better voicing somebody like Squall me thinks.
Give Cloud some life Burton, he isn't a robot. :gasp:


 
I don't know...

I think that Steve Burton did a pretty good job on Advent Children. Not so great in Dissidia...but come on, people--Cloud has never really shown much emotion...he's always calm, quiet, and serious. He's hardly ever happy. He's either sad or angry. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I played FFVII for the first time, it was before Cloud even got a voice actor, and I always pictured Cloud's voice being a bit monotone and quiet. So, all in all, I think that Steve Burton is doing just fine.

But come on! Let's move away from this character already! - lol
