Who called my Mum..?

Yesterday, about 8:30pm my Mother's cellphone started ringing. She was in the shower so she couldn't answer. When I heard it ring I quickly ran to her room to answered it. Before I could answer it was off... The freaky thing is that it didn't leave a voice message.

Today, when my Mum got back from work, she said she doesn't know that number. This is the number that called her +9995554444. She went searching that number in the phone book, but no country starts with 009. Then she tried to call back. Mum's chosen company's name is o2. A woman that works there answered and said that there's no such number at all, like.

We also tried looking in the internet. There were several reports about this, and most of them were women. One of them said.
"This is to the number +9995554444.
You called me 7:16pm on 1st of August. Who are you?"

Who is this person, why can't you call him back? Here's another one.
"As soon as I touched the phone it stopped ringing... Who is this person?
Dear +9995554444, call me back, I want to know what do you want"

Does the number +9995554444 mean anything to you?
 
Could be a scam number. I got rang up by someone over here, they cut off, didnt leave a message. Didnt bother looking the number up myself.
 
Yes but how can it be..? I get it not being in the phone book, but you can't even call it back 'cause there's no such number... Does this make any sence?

Quite possibly, it's the work of someone who can make calls via computer.

For Thanksgiving, my uncle over in Iraq used his computer to make a phone call. The number turned up as all '7's. Perhaps this is something similar?

We don't know anyone who would do that. Where would they get the number anyway, my Mum got her phone last month

Hmm, I used to get calls from weird looking numbers too. I don't bother calling it back because, well...there's really no need. Lady Eterna's explanation makes more sense, with a possibility that it could indeed be just a scam.
 
True, and as for the part about how this thing got your number...cell phone numbers are recycled all the time. It's just a scam. I, personally, would warn you about not keeping a TV in the house for a while, 'cause...you know... :monster:

But yeah, it's more than likely a scam.
 
Ah, not to mention that most international numbers comes with a + sign. Whenever I call to the Philippines, I usually have to dial +0063...well actually, that's only when I'm texting, I believe...
 
At my house ive had a couple of weird calls. I dont have caller ID but when i get to the phone and say hello it cuts off. Idk who it is but they have done it a few times to me :\. Maybe a stalker? :monster:
 
We get those computer messages alot. Pains in the arse, specially when your waiting for an important call.
 
There was this old phone at my grandmother's. I was all alone in the house and it started ringing. When I answered there was no one there. It rang at the same time the other day. Same thing happened on the third evening, but this time I heard someone calling my name.

I have to tell you, that house is 80 years old and a lot of people had died there, besides the grave yard is just one km away...

My family is too serious to do something so childish (except for me :P)
 
Maybe someone was prank-calling your mom from the future like in South Park 1012-1013 :D That would be freaky :D

I used to get weird numbers like that call my cell phone all the time, and then I signed up for a lot of protection services on my phone that blocks telemarketers, and when those weird numbers come up, it doesn't show the number, but it shows up as 'Unknown Caller' on my phone which I never pick up and they never leave a message.
 
OMG...I'm scared. Seriously. I will never give out my phone number online ever again!!! EXCEPT SITES LIKE EBAY!! >=D
 
It's all right now, I found out it was my grandmother from America. She called my mom computer via mobile. The number +9995554444 was the serial number of that program
 
Alrighty then, I'll go ahead and close this now.
