I Am quickly coming to the end of FFVII (should be finishing tonight) and was wondering what one I should play next? I'll likely start tomorrow on saturday 22nd.

A couple of notes on the voting:

1) I'm not playing FFVII again lol, not much point in playing it twice in a row.

2) I am saving FFIX until last. I have no idea how many I will play on my own little marathon, but it's ending with FFIX.

3) Only main numbered titles.

4) Only upto (and including) FFXII. I finished FFXIII last year and have no intention of going back to it for the time being.

5) I have played all main titles, just replaying for fun.

6) No onlyline titles, single player only :D

Why not vote and leave any remarks worth considering? Thankyou for voting

x

ps: I'll conduct this vote again once I have finished the next title. This shall continue until I have either exausted all titles, or I put the FF series away for a few weeks.

I suppose I'm biased since I didn't play any of the "classic" FF games (FFI~FFVI), I don't remember FFVIII much, && FFXII's open world was a bit too overwhelming for me...
So, I voted on FFX. I've replayed it from time to time && I've never regretted it. :moogle:

Pros: I think the storyline is great, the battle system is fast and active, && the characters are pretty likable overall (except for Wakka 'cause he was annoying).
Cons: I suppose the sphere grid can get boring after awhile when everyone ends up learning the same abilities... xD;

I would say FFVIII, or X.

But I haven't played anything past X so don't know if they're worth it or not ;)

My vote goes towards X, since it's my second favorite of the entire series (IX being first). But X is good if you want an especially good world that's easy to get immersed in; the fact that there's no overworld helps to not break the 4th wall, so that's a plus. The characters are all also generally likable even if you personally don't get super attached to them! ✩

I'll agree with 10. It's hugely different from 7 so it'll be a nice change. Then again, a lot of them are very different from each other so maybe that's a bit of a stupid answer :P

I voted for VIII and then at the last second changed my mind but couldn't change my vote :sad3: I originally said VIII because it's quite futuristic like VII was but then I realised that you never really said whether you liked that about VII so I figured you should try X next since it's more fantasy and very different from VII.

I've got limited knowledge since I haven't played anything before VII. To be honest VIII, X and XII are all good games, but X is my favourite so that's another reason why I chose that one. There are good reasons to play each game.

VIII
Gameplay - The battle system is quite similar to VII's but the junction system (asigning magics to make stats stronger) makes develping characters really interesting. Good world, lots of optional places you can go although it's not the most exciting-looking world.
Story - It's a out and out love story, but the main characters are really interesting and develop well through the game. Side characters don't get so much fleshing out however.
X
Gameplay - Good battle system, it allows you to see who attacks next which is great for strategies. The Sphere Grid (you choose what stats your characters gain with their levels) is amazing, and means you can do anything you want with any of the characters. The world of Spira is beautiful but can be seen as a bit linear. You still have the choice of where to go, and you can go right back wherever you've been before, but there are no optional areas until late in the game.
Story - Also a love story, but focus is more on the journey the characters take, their developments (all of them, not just the main characters) and the history of the world you're in. It's got a lot of depth.
XII
Gameplay - The battle system is really different, it's fast paced, you can see your enemies, and you control one character. If you want to you can control the others too, or assign them orders to fullfil. Development is a little trickier, because you can't see where you're going so it takes some guessing or some googling. The world is amazing. The best world in any game I've ever played and heaps of extra sidequests to do and places to explore.
Story - Compared to the other games the story is very uninvolved. It's based more on the politics of this part of the world and doesn't focus as much on the characters. Some people call it mature, I'd say it's just detatched.

So it depends what you feel like after playing VII - sorry I can't say anything for any of the other games. I recomend playing VIII and X at least before you end your marathon with IX :) those three are my personal favourites and I still can't decide which is the best.

OOOOO the votings tied, I might just have to flip a coin haha

Edit: Tails, it's FFVIII, followed by FFX

Thank you for voting everyone, I'll do this again when I've finished 10!!!
