What's it worth?

my husband and I just bought the original Final fantasy in box (slight damage to box, but game in excellent condition) with the original strategy guide (a page or two loose) we paid 40 for it..was that a good deal?

I googled it and couldn't find anything at least not for the strategy guide.

probably not very much. the early games aren't very good.

Compare it to Ebay. Bear in mind that Ebay is generally overpriced. But id wager its not worth a whole lot. Just cuz something is old doesnt make it valuable.

There was a woman selling Sonic the Hedgehog on megadrive for £150 on amazon. Just cuz its an old game she assumed it was valuable. A game that came with pretty much every single megadrive and every kid owned. Its not worth more than a couple of pounds.

Someone on Amazon has it listed for $700.

They'll never sell it for that much. It's ridiculous. There are used copies at Amazon starting at $12. I guess if someone is a collector and wants a complete copy, it might be worth something to them.
