What type of characters do you not like?

I hate the generic badass personality with no personality other than being badass. Some characters I see have almost no personality yet possess a 'complex' past that permeates the either story. Trauma is not something you recover from in a few days and I hate the fact that traumatized past = mary sue/marty stu. I keep hearing that some characters have depth that is not really there at all and it is somehow universal with most anime, manga or fanfic of their type. We like them for 'depth' but really want their pants in reality. What is it with fangirls and those guys?

I'll diagnose this into two different Genders:

1) The constantly complaining white or black fellow. He is always complaining about the things most folks wouldn't even bother with due to them being trivial. When something happens that's so small, he blows it up like his dog was murdered by Ninjas on horse backs. I think they try to personify someone in real life, and yes there are folks who are like this, and no they are not my friends, but in the entertainment business, they make it that much harder to watch.

2) Big busty blonde/brunette without a brain. They always throw one or two in movies these days to try to get some eye candy, but I guess my thing is ... doesn't it get old? I assume she's there for comic relief for the most part, but it bores me.

3) Meat Head - The typical jock who plays the roll of being the mean guy, or.. extremely dense, stupid fella.

4) Spiteful bitch - She is more of the person who if someone is in the limelight more-so than her, she's tries to bring them down a notch. Rather it be befriending someone because they are getting more popular than her, and then backstabbing her or just the prom queen/ event organizer / power trip girl. Also she treats men like the flavor of the week, and to me, it gets old. It gets under my skin, to the point I wish someone would slap the woman in the movie. Except in horrors/teenage movies, the girls usually reign supreme.

5) The stand in stud - the fella who always has to take his shirt off to make the movie good for the ladies. I'm surprised movies even get sales these days if they are deemed a romantic comedy and matthew mcconaughey isn't in it.

The compulsively obnoxious rival:

It would make my day if we're allowed to kick this guy (or maybe girl) off a cliff in the next Pokemon game, 300 style.

Hhuhm this is a tough decision lol, but i agree totally with the very 1st one, the damsel in distress. their totally pointless characters half the time who we would be better off just leaving to get captured than to rescue only for them to get caught again because they are just so weak. i also cant stand the characters who have TEMPER TANTREMS!!!!!!! lol they get on my nerves too, like the ones who just take everything another character says as an insult and get all hot headed over it.

update

oh, another i hate, although this really doesnt necessarily have to just be anime or games, is THE ANNOYING WANNABE ADULT CHILD!!!!!! everything they say is supposed to be cute and funny and sound all grownup to make the audience go awwwwwww, but ida know thats just one type of character that really gets on my last nerve.

I hate the damsel in distress too! Ugh! Like Rinoa for example, lots of people love her, and I don't see why, I just don't like her :gonk:

I also don't like:
- the character who always calm and cliche and peaceful. Don't really know how to describe this one :hmmm: I guess the character's who's so overly gracious and is never annoyed/mad/upset but always forgiving and "holy", like a angel or a goddess in those animes or something. Someone who's always in a pose like this every 20 seconds or whenever the wind blows..

- the childhood friend of the main character. It's always the same scenerio: You guys grew up together and you love eachother, but you're not becoming an item for whatever lame reason I could care less about and it's tearing them up inside. Oh boo hoo. Move on already, just move on... they're so overused.

- the bitchy one. Self explanatory. The one who never SHUTS UP about crap. Just wish I could slap her -_-

- the cold, antisocial one. They're so mean... there's a bunch of them in these books and movies I see/read... a nice cheeky person is trying to help them make friends and they give off the "STFU" face. :O Basically someone like Squall....... but he's pretty cute so I can't hate him xD

- the bully-enemy. The one who always takes shots at the protagonist and has a group of followers alongside them. I don't consider these guys as the main antagonists, but they're just annoying... like Draco Malfoy in the first Harry Potters.

- the ladies man. Not literally a ladies man who hits on everyone, but the guy all the girls fall for and he doesn't seem to notice or care. I don't know, I just don't like these guys.

And that's about it.

The damsel in distress is usually the one I cant stand. Bella from Twilight springs to mind. Constantly getting into trouble and needed to be rescued. Really drove me sodding mad.

This maybe offtopic. The others are the teens in some books, like the way they talk. If you get me. It maybe the writers fault, but some teen American books make me shudder with the teen speak. Specially with the words "Like" and "Whatever". Even the use of "emo" annoys the fuck outta me in teen lit.

Yeah especially with Joss Whedon or any whedonesque books, he uses rapid fire wit and banter that sometimes throws me off. I also hate teen characters who often times don't act like teens but minature adults and I know people like that exist in real life but I just wish they write characters and not stereotypes. I don't want to how x slept with t or x intends to use why to do z.

OH another i'm hating, not so much in video games or anime etc, is the totally plastic main characters in horror films, their entirely impossible to like, or believe. Hopefully somebody will know what i mean, their like essentially a blank sheet of paper that walks, lol! well, walks, runs, and in many cases crawls to get away from the villain. and they always gotta be high school or college age. maybe because their brains arent developed enough yet because a persons brain typically doesnt develop all the way until at least age 21, so they wont be smart enough to escape the killer as easily, although i doubt that because characters in horror from 70s to early 90s were a lot better done and had reasonable intelligence. lol long post XD

Personally I go with the helpless maiden who needs the world to take care of her and cant do anything for herself.
Personally I see enough of these women in real life that I DETEST seeing them in my games.

I basically just can't stand damsels in distress, or damsels in distress who are depicted as "becoming strong" either physically, mentally, or both. I hate to say it but that's how I felt about Garnet throughout a good part of FFIX, especially the part where she
lost her voice. I mean, Freya's kingdom was destroyed too, AND the love of her life forgot who she was, and you didn't see her sitting there acting like that
>_> I mean I get that sometimes royal characters in stories are raised to be oblivious to the real world, but if you don't take the time to get out in the world and see what really goes on, then it's your own fault if you get shocked when
someone shows up and starts destroying your hometown
:mokken:

Also, even though I did like Zidane, I usually can't stand the characters who fall in love with the damsels in distress either. Not just because the whole overly-feminine thing kind of disgusts me, but because they often will overlook the other chicks in their lives who are much cooler and more independent, and sometimes those other chicks have feelings for the guy and get ignored and I think that's outright criminal.

Other type I hate--jocks who will sleep with anything that has the right body parts, like in those American Pie-type movies. I mean the trash female characters they have in those kinds of stories usually aren't even worth looking at, if I was a guy I would rather choose my hand than those types of chicks, etc., etc., barf

Oh, and one other type is the brooding, tough lead character. It's been beaten to death both within and outside the FF series, and they just don't offer anything to the story, IMHO. They're extremely hard to familiarize with for me. Plus, quite often, despite their "cold" image, they rarely do anything heartless because they're the heroes, and so that type of personality is sort of wasted on a character that can't explore it to its full potential.

I hate kawaii girls.

This includes->The annoying kawaii girl-Selphie with all her annoying BOOOOM BOOOOOM,the ''Tee hee'' laughs, and the WOOO HOOOO sentences.

The annoying kawaii girl(2)-I hated Yuffie too(in the original,on the compilation she is kinda cool)I already thought she was shallow already, then, she stoles all materias...

The strong,ill-fated girl-Yuna in X. Her personality was too much artificial to me. In X-2,she is more independent,at least.

The brat,''gonna be strong'' child-Relm in VI. Just don't like her.
