Tifa, she has boobs. Period. Furthermore, Aerith died so she wouldn't be able to kick Tifa's ass because she's not alive 
, however, were she to come back from the dead she'd probably be invincible and win, however, shit like that doesn't happen so she can stay dead...unless someone uses a Pheonix down, however, Damon didn't think about that at the time because it just meant he could finally get rid of Aeirth for Tifa without her having to know he really loved Tifa we must mean that she's better looking, therefore, automatically wins, however, if Damon was gay he'd have preferred Danny because he had a big stick. But Tifa wins anyway. Because I said so.

Hmmm coulda swore we had a thread on this elsewhere. *ponders* Anyway, I think Aerith would pwn Tifa and not because I'm biased, but because Aerith's magic attacks were pretty powerful if you did her materia right, she has the ability to heal herself where as Tifa doesn't and errmmm*coughs* Great Gospel anyone? I'd say invincibility has advantage over a few hits and kicks.
I'm going to go for Tifa, mainly because of her physical strength. I can understand how Aerith can summon magic and even use Holy, but Tifa's got the speed to dodge it and can hold her own. Don't get me wrong, I like both characters. Mind you, it'd be interesting to see how this fight would go down. xD
Okay, leaving favourite characters out. And actually having taken time to look over Aerith's limits.
I'd say Tifa wins. My reasons;
If you take a fair amount of Life, say 3000 HP. And put both in battle.
Tifa's stronger with her hand to hand fighting, true that Aerith is stronger with her magic, but if her MP would run out, she's screwed. Tifa would only have to use her MP for healing herself.
Now I know Aerith's Limit does this. But if she would keep attacking Tifa with Magic, which is a strong attack, Tifa's Limit would fill up quickly, she'd use her chain limit break, do massive damage, and heal herself with the MP she would have. She's fast and can dodge.
If Aerith would use her Limit breaks, which would take longer 'cause Tifa's attacks might be weaker sometimes than Aerith's magic, Tifa would have time to restore herself. =/ *That's why I never liked Aerith's limit cause it heals*
The invincible is only for a while, once again, I think Tifa would have enough MP left to cure herself. Regen anyone? Now Aerith would be in a shitty position if her MP was drained and her limit wasn't full yet while she only had so much life yet. If Tifa would gain her Limit chains. Aerith would be shit out of luck.

I think Tifa wins. Even if materia is allowed, Tifa would win because she's agile and would dodge Aeris' attacks. The fight would last a little, but eventually Aeris would run out of MP and stop healing herself. >D Then Tifa would Meteor Strike Aeris for realz.

is this like an ingame ff7 fight with an atb and everything? or is it like an advent children type fight?
if it was with an atb i'd say tifa would win if her limit break was maxed out, but aeris would win because she'd cure herself with her limit break after tifa was done pummeling her. the fight's really situational...
if it was in advent children, tifa would easily win. one punch in the face and it'd be over for aeris.

Tifa,hands down. Like alot of others have mentioned,she is agile and would be able to dodge Aeris's magic. While Aeris's limit breaks are pretty good for protecting yourself,they will eventually wear off. While Aeris is attacking with magic and using it all up,her invincibility will wear off. Then Tifa can strike and use her chain limit break. Although this all depends on if Aeris gets a turn,since Im sure while she is casting,Tifa will be beating on her.
Well if we're taking gameplay mechanics into account (Great gospel, Final Heaven, materia, etc) then there's no winner IMO.
If both characters were allowed to do anything they could in the game then Great Gospel would keep Aerith alive and final attack + phoenix would keep Tifa alive.
Personally, I think these kinds of moves aren't meant to be taken seriously outside of enhancing the battle gameplay. After all, if they were actually allowed to use these moves outside gameplay-driven battles then Cloud and company would have been able to storm Midgar without any concern. Going up against ten thousand shinra soldiers would be a cakewalk with the final-attack/phoenix pairing. But they never exhibited these powers because they only exist to make the gamer enjoy battling random baddies a bit more.
So instead of debating about who could use what gameplay-oriented move to beat crap out of the other character, I'm going to base my argument on actual combat abilities, not just gameplay gimmicks.
Of course that kind of makes it a one-sided battle, but that's just how things are. It is notable to consider that Aerith spent a good deal of her life evading the Turks, but Tifa has had years of martial arts training.
Tifa's life is much more combat oriented, while Aerith would prefer tending flowers.

It would be an itneresting battle. Tifa can knock the stuffing out of you, but Aeris can heal herself. So it would probably be a long match lol. Id say Tifa would win because she is alot tougher physically then Aeris.
Generally im very biased towards Tifa mainly because i like her better. Aerith would have a hard time winning because shes dead....nah seriously they could both do some damage. Tifa is a expert in hand to hand combat, whereas Aerith has a great knoledge and understanding of magic. What hinders Aerith is that she relies on mp for her power, without it, she pretty much defenceless. I think it could go either way but id probadly put my money Tifa sneaking the win if i had to choose.

Looking at this from an unbiased and rather uncaring view, it depends what they're equipped with, what material is allocated and if they have items in their inventory.
If you're saying they're going in there completely naked with no materia or items... Tifa has fists. Aeris? Has...flowers? Aeris is dead. Actually Aeris IS dead, so why are we considering this?
