Help weapon question

i only started playing about a week ago and because the PS3 is in the living room, my dad was sitting on the computer and watching every few minutes. whenever i buy a weapon for someone, i sold the weaker one. my dad played this when it first came put and beat it, and asked, "Why are you selling the weapons?" i told him "I could use the extra gil. Should I not?" and he gave me a look like "I wouldn't do that......" ....... Do I need to keep the old weapons?

Well not really but you should prioritize Damage to materia growth

the Only weapons i keep are the ones with Double Materia Growth, as it makes leveling up materia easier, which is a good thing when your preparing for bosses, and difficult optional fights later on i.e Emerald and Ruby weapon.

It's really not necessary to worry about double/triple materia growth until you've gotten through the bigger half of the game. Materia grows just fine regularly. Accessories are good to keep, however. Try to get one of each.

I would agree with your father as I like to see all the things I collected. Some weapons and armor can NOT be found again. It never hurts to go out into the field and battle some until you got enough money. If you are just wanting to get to the end of the game and arn't worried about having a perfect save file, then go ahead and sell them.

You dont *need* to keep them, but it is essential for a 'perfect' game.

Not to mention, some materia slot setups are hard to get with some of the current better weapons, depending on the stage you're at. Never hurts to consider strategic materia placement over damage, especially since materia 'mages' your character anyway, so damage isn't as big a deal if you have a major spellcaster.

Just keep the Weapons that have a Status thing on them, Yoshiyuki, Master Fist, tifas gloves from Nibelhiem....cant remember there names, weapons you like Ultimate weapons and 2nd most powerful weapons, Ragnarok, Godhand, MaxRay and the like.

You can sell all the massed produced crap! But dont sell the 2x or 3x Materia Growth weapons because later i the game they make all the difference!
