I was lucky enough to come by this series of gaming genius one glorious spring day 10 years ago.......... As I came home from a tough day at school, I was greated by my dad who always had the fridays off... he'd been shopping with my mum and picked up a new game for the PS1, at first I really didnt care, just ANOTHER GAME, as i went up to my room to do my homework... upon completion i went downstairs to watch some TV to find my dad playing a game which looked like small block shapped men running about a strange factory and on the odd occasion the screen would spin and a battle would commence, and thats when I saw it... THE GUARD SCORPION.

Needless to say later that night I went on to begin my own adventure, loving every second of it, my dad on the other hand, well it wasnt his cup of tea. AND THE REST IS HISTORY!

Share with us your first glimpse of the wonderful game.

Well FFVII was the first I played. I saw a friend playing it when I went around, and over the next few weeks I saw him play further and further until one day I decided to go and buy it for myself

My first experience was probably watching my cousin play Final Fantasy VII on his Playstation one Easter. It took me a little while, though, before I decided I wanted to play it. I mean, it looked interesting and all, but for some odd reason I never made the move to get it...though it may have been due to my lack of a PS1 at the time.
The first game I ever played from this great series was Final Fantasy IX.
Now it colors my perceptions of the world.

If this is about FFVII, why is it in this forum?

Anyhow, my friend got the PC version but couldn't run it on his computer so he gave it to me. I loved it. I remember playing for hours and hours and hours and hours... and finally making it to Junon. lol Yea, I wasn't far at all but I thought I was like halfway through the game. I was young. lol Anyhow, I couldn't get past Junon because of a game glitch so I picked it up years later. It's now my favorite game.

Good question.

Yeah, you picked up the game because I let you borrow it, ya damn nark. Never forget!

I first saw the game being played by a friend of mine who was casting a shitload of magic with some dog/cat looking animal. I thought to myself, "screw that junk, that's gay, I'm going home" (I was 13 at the time). Game looked retarded; I didn't want to play it.

Apparently my friend though was facing Emerald Weapon and was casting magic or a summon with Red XIII obviously. I bought the game 2 eyars later off of eBay for a steal of $40. I got it together with a brand new copy of FFX as well. $40 total; I'm love'n it.

I didn't play the game though until about 6 months later after I had finihsed FFX and FFIX first. Loved FFVII from the very first play. Great game.

I got the game for my 9th birthday i think it was and hated it, it was way too hard for me so a left it aside with the other reject games. But one day i found to my astoishment i had completed all my favourate games and the only one left was FFVII. I was 10 when i replayed my most hated game, but as i grew so did my sophistication and i grew to love it and be somewhat addicted to it. I then, once finished VII, went on ot buy others and thats how FF caught me in its web and wrapped me up tight.

My dad rented the game when I was younger and we put it aside as never really liking the whole RPG thing, then a few years later, my brother lent me a copy of his mates version of FFVIII, I then tried VII again and loved it

This game was hyped for months, if not more than a full year, by every game magazine out there. As a fan of FFVI (III) and Chrono Trigger, I preordered it and got that tight t-shirt with it that had Cloud on the back. Got it the day it came out and played quite a bit.

I had played final fantasy tactics at a friends house, I didnt realize that tactics was pretty much out of print at the time(I was about nine and it was 1999) I went to wall mart and was attempting to buy tactics, they didnt have tactics, but they did have final fantasy seven so I bought that, I remember I couldnt get past the guard scorpion in the first reactor, so, I stopped playing it for a while and just left it be. The about a year later, I played it again and mastered it to death.

My cousin got her copy free with a PS1. I didnt play it cause I wasnt allowed to, she thought Id be dumb enough to save over her game ... I had never played an RPG before, just horror and beat em ups, so it looked interesting. I purchased a copy of Final Fantasy VIII after I witnessed VII being played.

Also Im thankful for VII as my very first boyfriend, who is now a massive FF fan, was deciding wherever or not to buy VII or a shooting game. So if it hadnt been for VII, we wouldnt have met even though we split up 9 months later lol.

My dad always played FF games and I'd sit and watch him play for hours, but I was always way to young to play. Then, about 10 years ago a little game called FFVII came out. My dad bought it, and at the time I'd never seen anything like it. I couldn't help myself, I'd seen him play rpg's so many times I wanted to try it myself. And I did! And I loved it! I've played it over and over again, and it's my not just my fave FF, but my fave game period.

Ah let's see. I was 12 when I saw my cousin trying to play this. He was in Midgar, at the very beginning of the game. Well, my cousin was only 8 or something, so naturally, he didn't really understand the game. I didn't either, but I tried anyway.

I remember getting confused because Cloud would keep getting smaller and smaller as I enter new areas, and I asked my aunt, "Um, what kind of a game is this?" She just started laughing at me because apparantly, she tried to play it too and had the same exact thoughts as me.

Well, few days later, I got the gist of the game! Then I borrowed it that summer and had been playing it nonstop! ^_^ I restarted the game though because I couldn't beat Sephiroth in the end. On my 2nd try, I seriously got most of everything in the game, without using a guide! I'm so proud of myself! :D I just couldn't beat that monster in the ocean...Ruby or Emerald? I forgot. I'll make sure to beat him though when I play again soon! I'm so proud of myself! :D

After that, I've been hooked on Final Fantasy!

First, I'd like to mention that there is a difference between the original Playstation (PSX) and the first semi-portable PlaystationOne (PS1). Sorry, it just annoys me to hear the PSX called the PS1 as they are quite different.

I used to spend a lot of time at my cousins house, and we played video games together for days on end sometimes. One day when I came over he was playing FFVII, he was in Shinra's office building or something like that. At first it looked kind of stupid, but the more I watched him play, the more enthralled I became. Eventually, I just had to have it. I've loved it ever since.

I don't remember exactly where I got this..I think my dad just bought it one day, and never played it. I played it through Midgar when you first start the game, but I never was interested enough to play any farther, but then one day in the summer a few years back, I picked it up again, and beat it in like two weeks...so yeah, thats my story on how I got Final Fantasy VII.

Ive always called any version of the Playstation 1 a PS1. Doesnt bother me and Im not going to stop saying it anytime soon. Yes I did have a PSX, but I seen no reason to call it that.

I'd asked for a PSX for Christmas when I was... 12 and couldn't decide on what game to ask for. I asked my friends and they suggested Final Fantasy 7, which had already been out for a while (little did I know, they were trying to suck me into their little RPG world). Simple enough. Christmas morning, I was hooked. Final Fantasy Tactics followed the next year for my birthday, and the next thing you know we're planning a "release date party" for Final Fantasy VIII.

I know. It's sad, but it's true.

Well, I'd heard of the series but didn't know all that much about it when a girl with a playstation and FFVII moved in with me, haha ^_^ I figured I'd check it out and was completely floored, it was awesome <3

Played it on a demo disc. I had some knowledge of Final fantasy before that, but I was sideswiped by what I played on the demo which was the breaking in part at the beginning of the game with extra spells and summons
