Voice In Cloud's Head?

If this has already been mentioned somewhere, I'm really sorry, than please close this thread. But as far as I was looking no one has.

I recently started playing Final Fantasy VII again, and just now bumped into something that has always been raising questions in my head.

The voice in Cloud's head, that you see in faded grey?

For example now on my screen. The screen is black and I'm in Aerith's house, it goes.
"I haven't slept in a bed like this ...In a long time."
Later on, I recall it going,
"Take it slow now, little by little."
No this is no Cloti fan speaking here, but I recal Tifa using those words alot as well, when she tells Cloud this. Who is it? Cloud himself? His mother? Tifa perhaps, Tifa WOULD make sense, but I just really don't know? Bugs me so muuuuuch! Please help. -_-

I've got the impression that it's Clouds original personality; The child Cloud that guides Tifa when she enters Clouds mind.

The only other possibility that I see is that it could be Zack's personality, not actually Zack (since he's dead) but his influence, seeing as Cloud used a lot of his flare and mannerisms to create his new "Ex-SOLDIER" persona.

But I highly doubt that, Zack never influenced Clouds memory of being home with his mother, and Tifa doesn't exactly encounter a Zack persona in Cloud's mind.

I'm faily certain it's not Tifa, Cloud talks to this "voice" about Tifa at one point and the voice suggests he go ask Tifa about Nibelheim.


So I'm just gonna have to go with my first answer and say it's the "original Cloud" that's kind of taking a backseat to Clouds new fabricated persona.

You're right, he does talk about Tifa during the whole faded grey voicey-creep o.o I forgot about this. I'm stil not sure though, maybe it's Zach, but I don't think that suits it very well.

I mean it MIGHT be a good chance of it being Zach, my mom thinks it might be Sephiroth, but I doubt that, although, If I remember correctly.. In Junon... The voice seems to be hinting very well, towards Tifa and about her "knowing more" than Cloud does, and that he should ask her. =X Maybe it was a Sephiroth move, of trying to show how messed up Cloud is.


AGH... *Grabs head* The confusion...
 
Eh i thought we had a topic on this already, apparently not.....:gasp:

Anyway, I always pinned it down to being Clouds subconcious. It asks him to ask Tifa about Nibelheim when he is sleeping in Juno. 'did you ever see Tifa alone' or something along those lines 'why don't you ask her about it' and as he does go to ask her shes like OMG TEH MUSIC, WHUTS GOING ON. And he misses his chance, so I just think it's his subconcious trying to break through, to remind him who he really is as opposed to it being anyone elses thoughts in his head

We see his little boy self handing the black materia over to Sephiroth at the temple of the ancients, that's who I think the voice belongs to
 
There is a topic about this but would be very old and probably learking the dark depths of the archives.

I think we came to the conclusion that it was Cloud's subconscious, his real self talking to him in his head.
 
Okays, my apologies then. I pretty much searched through the site, 'cause I didn't want to be a pain about making a new thread that already existed -_- Guess I must've done a sucky job than.

Tifa's out of the picture. I only thought that 'cause she used to tell him "Take it slow now, little by little." so... =/ That's why it sounded so familiar. I guess it could be tiny Cloud, or something, it's just all so off for me...

Just bugs me having that voice talking to me. WHO THE ^%@!$ ARE YOU?! xD

Ahh yeah i made a thread about this actually that was over a year ago but it gotta lot of replies but no doubt its archived now. And yeah the general agreement is that its Clouds subconcious that speaks to him...which i guess kinda makes sense, although i still find the whole thing a little strange and confusing.
 
Well he completely lost himself didnt he, mixed himself up with Zack, generally just all his memories were fucked up and wrong, but there was like, part of him, deep inside that would have remembered but was so lost it was just coming back like a dream I guess....?

Also, theres the young Cloud again when him and Tifa are in the lifestream, its this younger him that helps her to help him remember - which again, is who I think the voice is :awesome:
 
Yea, his subconscious definitely makes sense. The only other reasonable explanation is Sephiroth, but since Seph is asking about things that he probably didn't know about... it's mildly safe to assume it's the real Cloud trying to peek through.
 
Actually, what I never understood about the voice was why it said "Watch out! This isn't just a reactor!!" near the beginning of the game, since they blew it to smithereens and oddly enough it seemed it was just a reactor, seeing as they never elaborated on it any further. o_O
 
I think THAT voice was just a memory, from Nibelheim I think....it WASN'T just a reactor becasue it was breeding all those squigly monsters and had Jenova living there

He was just having a flash back there I assume
 
Yea, I completely agree with that. I'd never understood what that meant... but when I played to Nibelheim, it kind of clicked for me. It's a phrase that REALLY stuck out for me. In the beginning, I thought he was just talking about the boss you battled there... but it clearly meant more.
 
^ Yeah, stuff like that just backs up that it is Cloud's "other self" as a lot of the things that get said are things that only Cloud would know about. Of course I'm sure there are arguments for who it could be and there's plenty of evidence you could use to back up any of these points if you really wanted to, but logically it would semm that it is Cloud's subconscious and that's what I've always thought of it as at least.
 
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who started playing FF7 again, recently!

I started playing again this past weekend, and the questions in this thread were going through my mind. I can agree that the "voices" Cloud heres are his younger/true self trying to come through... but the last post (and what brought me to this forum) still bugs me... WHO is saying "Watch out! This isn't just a reactor!!", and WHY!?
 
I always thought it was just his self concious. Asking himself thing's or something like that.

That or it could be something to do with Zack.
 
Yeah, I agree with the general consensus that it's Cloud's subconscious/true personality trying to emerge. During Cloud's time in Midgar at the start of the game, the voice talks to him several times, and shows him various memories - two of which are especially significant.
The first time, just before they blow the Number 5 reactor, Cloud has a flashback of
Tifa crying over her father at Nibelheim and saying "Sephiroth...SOLDIER...Mako Reactors...Shinra...Everything! I hate them all!"

Then, when he stays the night at Aerith's house, the voice says
"I haven't slept in a bed like this...in a long time," and we see the memory of Cloud visiting his Mum at Nibelheim, just before the fated "Incident" occurs.

Later on in the game, at Kalm, when Cloud gives his long-winded messed up version of his take on the Nibelheim Incident - those two scenes match up and are shown again. They are his true memories - things that his "true" self remembers and is trying to show him to lead him back to self-hood.

...All imo, anyway...xD

That's just a flashback/Memory from when he was in Nibeheim, not a voice in his head
 
It was Sephiroth.

Well, I really think it was Sephiroth.

basically, since the real cloud is basically dead and this cloud is not only cloud but a recreation and also another of the Sephiroth clones, it would be understandable that Sephiroth could get in touch with it's subconscious. also, to keep Cloud sane after being rebuilt, Shinra gave him Zacks basic memories, in which Sephiroth would then go-ad him into remembering those incidents to show him that it wasn't infact him who did it, since Sephiroth has as much love to Shinra as Cloud did. that's why when Sephiroth pretty much reveals it to him, you never hear the voice again.

well, that's always been my theory on it. what do ya think?
