Vaan or Reks?

in my opinion i prefered reks design, hair and voice actor, and so in my opinion i feel that he should have been in the party instead of vaan who was just annoying

what do you all think? should reks or taken vaans place? or do you prefer vaan?

Well I disagree with you wiccawolf. Vaan is a great character. Reks would have been ok if he would have been smart enough to not just go charging into a room with countless slaughtered men laying on the floor. I mean, come on. I know that's how they made the game, but still. And I mean if you think about it Vaan and Reks look very similar. The only differences are the hari and the torso of their armor.
 
I prefer Vaan, Reks' design just isn't interesting enough. One thing that Reks does have over Vaan though is his superior voice acting. I still prefer him to Reks though.

Plus in that picture it looks like Reks is wearing a bra.
 
Vaan, because, as previously stated, Reks's bra looks retarded. Between that and Basch's lower-half of a blouse, I wouldn't have been able to take it...
 
I think that Vaan was perfect for the leader role. I could never picture it the other way around. Reks is certainly a person to look up to though and that's why they have it this way. Vaan looks up to Reks and hopes to be like him someday, and he eventually achieves that goal.
 
No clue. I didn't use Vaan. So if Reks was in his place I probably wouldn't have used him either. For some reason I never use the character I control in Final Fantasies.

I picked Reks... I'd take a chance at him. They're both annoying idiots but Reks didn't annoy me as much as Vaan's stupid comments. They both look like idiots but maybe, by the time Vaan is 17, Reks would have grown up a bit.
 
Reks. They could have spun the story so that Reks has been looking for a way to prove that the Empire played dirty...he could have snuck into the palace to try and find something worthy of note and encountered Balthier and Fran at the same time. This would then lead him to encounter both Basch and Ashe, presumed to be dead, and the 'main character' finally has a purpose to the story.

Sure Reks seems like he coulda been cool, but the fact of the matter is that I know hardly anything about him. We only see him as a NPC early on, and then never see him again the rest of FFXII. Sure he was thrown into the middle of the quick plot early on, but Vaan was the main character, and there's no way to change my perception of him in the main party having played through it once already.

Actually this is brilliant because it would destroy the problem of "WTF did the supposedly main character do in the game?". It would actually make the main character have a role that wasn't just supporting. Well thought out.
 
Vaan was alright, but I really liked Reks. ^_^ I liked Reks voice, much, much more than Vaans. I like the look of Reks... And Vaan was... kinda annoying.
 
Vaan took the cake for me as the worst lead in any Final Fantasy game, overtaking the eight year long title holder: Squall.

I was going to say neither, but this changed my mind :monster:

Reks would definately be the better lead, especially if he was incorporated into the story in the way Vayne suggested. My main problem with Vaan was that he didn't contribute anything to the storyline pretty much at all. He was just there the whole way through the game. Reks, however, had the potential to be a good character. Why they decided to kill him off is beyond me because it should have been the other way around >_>
 
vaan is ok but his costume and his nose just really pissed me off and his wierd six pack
i would of rather play as reks cause he looks alot cooler in his suit of armour and shit xD
 
Honestly I would have preferred both, I had no qualm with either of them. I liked the fact that although Vaan was tagged as the protagonist the role was equally shared by all of the characters. Even though you control Vaan through the game in terms of storyline and plot he just sat amongst the others and took no starring role.

Sure I have question what the point of him was, he didn't really do much but at least he wasn't some anti-hero or arrogant jerk. He took turns being the important character with the other party members throughout the storyline. I thought it was kinda refreshing to not have to focus merely on one brooding character for most of the plot.

I liked Reks and wished he was in more of the story, I would have liked to have seen the relationship between Vaan and Reks. But in terms of which one would I prefer I will stick with Vaan. In all honestly not that bad, certainly didn't have one of those Tidus sh!t eating grins.
 
Problery Vaan's older brother. He would of had more reason towards the storyline, more of a reason to advenge Vayne and question Basche's loyalty..

Dislike Vaan, but his dream for a better future was nice..
he was a postive outgoing main ( expect when his past about his brother, was triggered ) Reks problery would of showen more of a grudge and anger towards Vayne's empire which would problery spilt the fans up, even more than Final Fantasy 12 already does..
 
I prefur Reks. Vaan was annoying and got on my nerves. Reks just seemed like the better character.
From the way he spoke to the way he looked.
