Hi,

it's been ages since I played FF7 but I do remember in Kalm that in a house there is a chest that can't be opened. I always wondered why. Could it be a key or maybe its the chest where the old man gets the earth harp, and them thingies...
If you guys/girls got any ideas on this please share.

thx

There was supposed to be a side quest with that, but they cut it all out.
I think they just forget to remove the chest.
So there's nothing in it I guess.

Maybe it is the chest the old man get his thingies from. -__- and it could be just like what Krysta said, it's just like when you press the button (depends on what did you choose it to be) that shows the entrances and all, after the sleeping forest when you are heading to the forgotten city you see that bushes that it seems you can climb it and there is actually the red arrow that show there is an entrance but you can't enter. -__-

I had no idea there was a chest that couldnt be opened. Its something ive never ever come across. Thats the kinda thing that would bug me, id have to figure out how you open it. What a pain it would be to find out it does nowt.

hmmm, i never came across this.

Lets try to keep the posts contributory eh?

I always assumed it was just where that old guy kept the stuff he gave you...? Never thought anything of it past that

What annoys me is that cupboard you can open, I THINK its in Kalm inn, and the potion/ether wahtever it is, is too high to reach -__-

yeah but u have to keep trying and after a whie an elixer or megaelixer falls out. I think so but ain't certain

My opinion of the chest is that it's where the old man puts his stash of naughty magazines. Though every time I picture it an image of the turtle hermit from dragon ball pops into my head.

Thats the found chest.

When you've lost a set of car keys, a single sock from a pair, misplaced your big presentation from work, it all ends up in the found chest. So you better go open it up in a hurry, because your boss has been bitching about that big presentation.

Seriously.

If you keep on trying, Cloud bangs on it and it falls down. It's an Elixir/Megalixir.

I heard that the locked chest contains an Aero Materia. Apparently there was supposed to be a line of Aero spells but it never made the final game when they cutted a lot of game contents out for a speedier release. The only remenant of said spells would be ofcourse Rapp's 'Aero 3'.

If you use the debug room you find there where several other materia that didn't make it into the game either. Also I belive coin was origionaly going to be its own materia.

I heard that the development team had to cut a lot out just to even meet the set deadline for the original Japanese release (it is said that the game would have 4 CDs but it was reduced to 3 for this reason) There are budget considerations too. Considering that this game, at the time, had a budget bigger than a blockbuster movie. (and they ran out)

So that left a lot out, and I guess no one could throughly check everything in time.

Kinda anticlamatic, huh?

Where is this chest in Kalm? I mean, I know there's that damn chest in the prison that can't be opened...actually, is there any explanation for that?

And I remember there's a few cut materia...like one that stops environmental damage and originally there were separate materia for the magic defense spell and physical defense spell (I forget the FF7 name for em)...but I've never heard of a Aero materia being cut.
