Has anyone tried the Tower of Fanatics in the World or Ruin?
I did it found it too easy.

The tower only allows you to use Magic and is the exact same room over and over again, square really wasn't thinking much when they made it.

When I did it, I had Mog in my party and equipped the Mog charm on him.
My Party made it to the top and got the soul of Thasma, which lets you DualCast. The Magic Master came out and fought us, Cast Berserk on him and he can't do anything. Beat him and he casted Ultima, 6000+ Damage to my entire party, They all Reraised.

It was the Easiest Ultimate Dungeon in Final Fantasy History in my Opinion.

How did you enjoy this dungeon?

i didn't enjoy it because i thought it was a requirement to beat the game so i did it when my characters definitely were not ready for it. so it was incredibley challenging for me, though im sure if i did it with the same party i beat the game with, i wouldn't have the same problem.

I had fun with it. when I read the faq for it, it said that you need to cast life 3 on someone because when you kill the last boos his attack 1 hit KO's everyone, but I killed him too fast. I thought I was skrewed, but my sabin and Mog survived the blast. go Mog

It was a little hard. but it was rewarding with experience.
It was needed to kill Kefka.

I quite liked this tower. The music was good and set the scene well.
Is the Soul of Thamasa another thing they've changed for the GBA version? I remember getting a Gem Box to do X-Magic.

Yeah they changed alot in the GBA version. Offering is not the Master Scroll and the Gem Box is now the Soul of Thamasa.

I don't get why SE did that, it's really putting a Generation Gap between fans, even though I understand both terminology.

I really didn't like this place, I hate having to rely on magic, I ended up just equipping everyone with Wall Relics and reflecting all the attacks

It was a nightmare climbing all the way up and having to walk all the way back down again, I was almost out and nearly died...that saw the blood pressure rising. I had to use TWO elixers and 2 X-ethers. I am not a happy bunny

The boss guy at the top was easy enough though, I also casted life 3 on everyone and cast beserk on him :wacky:

It was just too irritating, and I'm glad I will never have to set foot in there again

I found it rather easy, as in FFVI I use magic to attack most of the time anyway, and Terra and Celes just crushed everyone.

What they did was give gamers a more accurate translation. I prefer it over the previous Woosley'd versions, personally...I was shocked that they didn't take it a step further w/some of the main characters' names & such...*shrugs*

Anyways, yeah, those are the main ways to cheese your way through the Cult of Kefka's tower: Moogle Charm & Reflect Rings...Don't forget the Dragon & Edgar's Tool are up there too! ;)

If you had the moogle charm (I think that's what it's called) equipped on Mog you could have just walked up the entire think ;)

Meh not my favorite place but the cult of Kefka was pretty creepy.

Quite the fun place for me, if you would ask me. Especially so since the music sounds pretty okay....
Well, the fact that we had to rely only on magic only made it more fun for me, since I made my characters learn quite a lot of the spells then....
And for the Lv3 fellows, just casting Banish on most of them should finish them.... Or cast Quick and spam some useful spells.
Gotta love the item that's given to you as a reward...
That is, the Soul of Thamasa, which allows you to cast two spells at one go within a turn

Actually, those changes are in the anthology version too. Seems like they changed those things a while ago. i have no real problem with the translations.

Gem Box with the relic that makes all magic cost only one mp...makes for one pretty awesome mage.

I used the 'ol Mog Charm trick. Only buggers to deal with that way are Holy Dragon and Magic Master.

Made damn sure Im got Edgar's Air Anchor tho. That thing even beats the Chainsaw imo!

It's great for getting your characters to learn magic from their equipped Esper. :)Also, when climbing the tower, the first treasure room you come to (I think it's the first one) There is a secret door. Search the walls in the treasure room for a secret button. You'll know when you found it because you'll hear something. Then go out, climb down one flight of stairs and there it is. The secret door. In it, is another treasure room which contains a tool for Edgar. (I forgot what it was called. The "Air something...")*

I found it very difficult. There were lots of enemies that had reflect on them, so I had to cast reflect on an ally and fire at them. And then reflect wore off and I ended up killing them.

One thing I didn't understand was why Strago was marching around with the fanatics at the base of the tower. If he had converted to Kefkaism, then why did he join the party so quickly?

He rejoined the party because Relm yelled at him and snapped him out of his trance.

I find the tower is one of the best places for gaining AP. I mastered all Eseprs with every character in there.
