Well i was at work today and for a change i worked my arse off. Usually i like to go at my own pace and not rush too much, im not a lazy fucker at work but i dont see any point in being a company hero and getting as much done as i can. Today however i was just working the whole time and getting through everything fairly quickly. Needless to say the day went by really quick. I seem to get these days every now and again where im just in the mood to do as much as i can. On a normal day theres no waaaaay i would do that much work.
Theres 2 lads at work though who just never ever stop. They just graft the whole 8 hours. I dunno where they get the motivation for it tbh. I think it would help more if you actually liked your job and were passionate about it. I dont like mine so finding the motivation to keep going can be hard. And i get paid the same regardless of much i do, its only the guys up the stairs [the owners] who get more money when a job goes out early, so why do them a favour?

thoughts?

i always like to keep myself really busy at work because otherwise the day drags by. there's always a lot for me to do as well which is fortunate, and because i'm the only one properly trained to do my job i'm the only one who ever does stuff properly.

Yeah im the same, theres nothing worse than having nothing to do. But would you try and get as much done as you could or just go at your own kinda pace?
Ive alwyas got something to do and there will always be something to do, but i just dont go for grafting like a mad man :gasp:

my own pace tends to be quite quick. :wacky: with my job there literally is always something to be doing and it all needs done at some point or another, so it's best to get it done quick and keep on top of it all.

That's pretty much me, the last place I was at, when it was really quiet, I used to go out of my way to find things to do, just to keep me busy. Of course, there's the days you really just can't be arsed and I'd do everything I could to avoid having to do anything, but I just hate sat there being bored, it makes the day drag on so much

Incidentally, I've not fucking stopped all day, from the moment I walked through the door, to the moment I left. Not long since got in and ate everything in sight. Ive barely had time to scratch my arse :rage:

I don't mind being busy, but fuck me, there's still a stack of work I still need to do. Bit more organised today at least. I just wish I could get through my invoicing in peace because I've STILL not started. And Ive managed to misplace a delivery note... fucking stacks of work

i even helped get a MASSIVE sheet of ali on the guillotine and it was heavy as fuck :rage:

I always have to work my ass off while I'm at work. I have to at least work 40 hours a week. So if I'm done with my research, I've gotta find something else to do. But I also have a certain time period that I have to finish my research. I usually end up pulling 60 hours a week because there are only 3 of us in our department. So we're usually there all day long until we finish, which is why I like to work hard so I can go home, otherwise I could be stuck there all night

I don't have a job yet, but if I did I would likely graft if I had work leftover to do or do extra work for the hell of it. Lately home has been the last place I've wanted to be, so it's normally calming for me to be elsewhere where I can do a lot of something that will keep my mind off of things I don't like thinking about.

I always have a million things to do, to the point in which I work above and beyond my normal 45 hour week.

There is no time for me to take my own pace.

Even if I did get a chance to do so I don't think I could do it. I'm one of those people who needs to constantly be doing something, otherwise I feel like I'm slacking off, which doesn't look good if the boss sees you.

It makes the day go faster if you're always doing something too.

There's a lot of pros to doing more work then less in the day in my opinion. XD
