i purchased this game thru amazon and got a beta key. i was "invited" to the last beta weekend. was never able to sign in. the server where all my friends all was always "full".

so now comes early access. same situation.

late in the week of release, i WAS able to get in and level to all of two.

today, i get the message that there has been suspicious activity on my account and i am required to change my password. ok. password changed.

now, i try to play the game and am given the "welcom to final fantasy xiv" page that asks me to set up a square enix account and enter my registration code. i already have one (or i couldn't play earlier) but ok, i'll bite. i enter my name and password and then am asked for my registration code. i enter that and am told it has already been used. of course it has .. by me.

how do i get to play this game?????

thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I am unable to help but I'll move this to the FFXIV section. People may find your question more easily then, and it'll be easier for people to help.

-Moved to FFXIV-

thanks, dionysos.

even finding the forums has been challenging. not to mention where i "sign up" for the actual subscription. i still have no idea.

i've only played two other mmo's (wow and sl) and both of those have been so much easier to download, join, login and play. i don't know why ffxiv is so complicated and user unfriendly.

so ... i decided to uninstall and reinstall ffxiv to see if that fixes the problem.

and now i'm getting this messag:

"Based upon recent suspicious activity, we have identified that your account may potentially be at risk. For your protection, we have temporarily suspended login access to this account.
Instructions for lifting this restriction have been sent to the email address registered to your Square Enix Account.
For more information about the login restriction, please refer to the following page:
http://support.na.square-enix.com/j/lbna" .... AGAIN. second time today.

can anyone inform me what is going on please? this is more than a little frustrating.

edit> after changing my password for the second time today, i'm again asked for my registration code .. etc .. etc ... etc.

is this game worth all this?

I have the same exact issue. The password change is because of changes in networks and PCs. It's honestly just over the top and I've changed my password more than 10 times now (no, I'm not exaggerating). Are you moving around a lot? Do you use a proxy? These are issues that keep locking my account.

I also didn't get to play in the early access because of people server camping so they didn't get logged. Launch was equally as bad.

I've went through a couple of launches on MMOs and they all have their issues, however, most of THESE issues were because of a short sighted plan on SE's part. 100 person queue, massively cut back server limits, no idle kicking, etc. It's like they didn't expect a Final Fantasy title to be popular, because their last MMO was dying after however many years.

Game IS good, though, but worth all this...? Maybe not. I have, however, had a lot more luck getting online these past few days.

no. same pc.

i just can't figure out how to log into the game again. i don't get the previous "run game" screen. just this "set up your account again" screen - which i can't. sl i am effectively locked out.

i can't figure out how to get back in.

or who to ask.

Oh, I see. Here's the link to the support page, though I didn't see your actual problem there. You'll likely just have to submit a ticket to the help desk, though I imagine they're absolutely swamped so it'd take them a while. I keep having to reset my pass, but nothing for the registration error.

I'm guessing the registration error doesn't give you the option to use your current account? I've had it a few times where it wants me to make a new SE account which has an option to bypass the creation, though it doesn't sound like it's that problem.

thanks, pockets.

i was able to submit a ticket.

the support page is a problem. i get led to the "Incorrectly Registered Service Account: Support Form". i have no idea what the different service accounts are.

i've also tried to register with lodestone but lodestone says i don't have a main character in the game.

all these different site registrations make my head spin. i'm not sure what i need to join and what i don't .

here's hoping i get a response from my ticket.

Hope it works out for you. Like I've said many a time, Square has made this way too complicated.

The way it makes it sound is your still trying to use the ea code when it's asking for a code right? Least that's how I am understanding it now. The code you need to enter is the code that came with the actual game, that may help you get past some of your problems. As for signing up your account if you are still having issues with that, just enter your ID and password. That will link your SE account to your XIV account and if you had a char in the open beta or early release you will have access to that character.

thanks, soul.

let me restate:

last week, when i launched the file (ffxivlaunchboot.exe or something like that - i'm at work and don't remember the exact spelling), it would ask for my user id and password. no problem. enter data. game launches. i played a bit last week and have a level 2 character on behemoth.

wednesday morning, i launched the game and was informed that there was "suspicious activity" on my account and i needed to reset the password. i followed instructions. reset password.

now, however, after resetting my password, i get a different screen at launch. when i enter my user id and password, i get instead a screen asking for the code which, if i enter it, only tells me i've already used it. which i have.

i don't know why the log-in screen has changed even though i'm launching the same executable file.

Log in changed because the client you used was the beta client. With the release of the game you most likely need to uninstall the file, I did to be safe then reinstall it using the disc since your using a PC. The code you should be using is enclosed with the game itself. Again sorry if I am missing something here,

this is the "response" i got from my ticket:

After successfully logging in, your Square Enix ID will be listed at the top of the page. Please be aware that your email address must match the registered email address on the Square Enix account including case sensitivity."

none of this applies to me. no one ever looked at my ticket submission. i have no idea what a "service account" is even.

again laying out my activity chronologically:

i installed the fourth beta test client back in early august. i never was able to get into the game, tho. full servers.

when the early release weekend came, i uninstalled the "beta" game and re-ran "setup". giving my game code numbers, etc.

i then was able to log in wednesday 28 august. as i mentioned earlier, i HAVE played the actual post-release game enough to level a character to 2.

this problem started this past wednesday 4 september when log-in generated the message that my account was showing "suspicious activity" and i was forced to change passwords. this happened TWICE. after that, i did not get the regular log in screen but one asking for the game codes. i already had done that so entering them again just gives an error message.

so the game IS registered to me. i HAVE played the game. i HAVE a character on behemoth already. i just can't get a launch screen asking me to give my id & password in order to launch the game.

this is looking more and more like $50 just thrown away.

problem solved!!

previously unknown to me, it seems there is something called "your games and software library" on amazon. in it, is yet ANOTHER set of code numbers different from all the other sets i have received from amazon via email.

using THIS code set got me back into the game. yay.

i've only played two other online games (second life and world of warcraft) and this is the first time i purchased a game digitally. it would have been nice of amazon to tell me the existence of this library and that IT contained my true game code.

could amazon and sd been any more byzantine in this whole process? i doubt it.

but ... a big thanks to dionysos, pockets and soul for all your help!

That sounds ridiculous. Why do they make these things so complicated?!

I'm glad all ended well and that you can now access the game.

Since the issue is resolved, I shall close this thread. If you have any further access issues just send me or another mod a message and we'll re-open this for you. But hopefully that shouldn't be necessary!

I hope you enjoy the game! And perhaps see you around the forums.
