The Tale of the Forgotten - RP

Julius grew impatient as they were left to wait in the main lobby for Taharka's reply. He had other important business to attend to, and waiting all day for an audience was not one of them. As he walked from one side to the other, Julius became more and more desperate to carry on the meeting as soon as he could, for he felt that at during these days time was an asset that should not be wasted. A few minutes have passed, and his patience was running thin, but eventually one of the high ranking guards, the guard was wearing an armor similar to Julius with the only difference that the color of the armor the guard was wearing was silver and the helm left the face exposed. The soldier said that he already spoke with Lord Taharka, and that the Lord should arrive soon.

Felldoh traced the insignia on the armour with his index claw. What did this mean?

A page came into the room. Though only for a second, there was a flash of xenophobia on the page's face; Felldoh was a giant squirrel in a land populated by humans, after all. He'd be willing to bet, too, that burly squirrels were not a common sight anywhere but where he was from.

The next second, the page adressed Felldoh. "Sir, I noticed that you were looking at these sets of armour. If you would like, I could find you an advisor that knows about these runes."

Felldoh was surprised by the page's helpfulness. "Yes, please, that would be excellent." Felldoh's excitement showed in his vehementation, and the page cringed a bit, mistaking his excitement for condescension.

"No, don't get me wrong," Felldoh corrected, "it's just that this mark is the same as that on my sword. I was hoping someone could explain them to me."

The page relaxed and nodded, scurrying off to find an advisor. Maybe these guys aren't so bad after all, Felldoh thought, Or maybe...maybe the tyrant hasn't shown his true colours yet.

* * *

The page came back with an elderly magician. Felldoh was surprised by his appearance. If he'd been a hedgehog, Felldoh could have sworn that he and Hillgorse would have looked exactly like.

The hair fell down the old man's back, sticking out like wild spikes (likely from not being kept well). His robes were a light brown, and his fingers had wicked nails on them.

And yet, despite his appearance, there was a kindly air about the man. Felldoh had no trouble approaching him.

"Good day, sir," he said, trying to be polite as possible. "Are you the rune-master here?"

The old man nodded, smiling to reveal unnaturally blunted teeth. "Yes, I am the translator here. What is it that you seek to know, young one?" The old man obviously wasn't startled by his appearance.

Felldoh took the man's arm and carefully led him to the armour. The old man placed spectacles on his crooked nose and stared at the armour. "Ah yes, I remember this. I instructed Lord Taharka as to these symbols ages ago."

"On each of these pieces of armour, as I am sure you can see, young 'un, is an insignia. No two are alike." He gestured with one of his hands at the armour set to the left, and to the armour set that Felldoh was facing. "The armour you are staring at is inscribed with the Insignia of Light. The one that I approach now is the armour with the Insignia of Darkness, or Shadow." He placed a worn hand on the insignia.

It was a beautiful, yet frightful thing to behold. Near the top, like on the Insignia of Light, was a large circle, overtop of a small arc underneath. Knowing what he did now, Felldoh assumed that the arc underneath the circle was the earth. However, whereas the Insignia of Light was bright, and one could literally see the rays that it shone, the Insignia of Darkness was the opposite, completely dark, shrouding the land underneath.

"These two insignias are above all others," the old man continued. "They represent their respective elements of Light and Darkness. Though they are of no more power than the other elements, such as Water and Fire, they are above all because they are more important than all."

"The Light represents good, while the evil is represented by Darkness, isn't it old man?" Felldoh asked.

The old man nodded in approval. "You catch on quickly."

Felldoh hesitated for a moment and then showed the man his sword. The old man gasped, before saying thoughtfully, "I have never seen a sword of the Elements before. It has never in history been done...Where did you get this sword?"

"I found it in an inn. I don't remember the name of the town." Thinking better of it, Felldoh decided not to tell him that it was from the north.

"Forgive me," the old man said. "I must go..." Before he left, he siezed Felldoh by the shirt. "Listen to me boy," the man said fiercely (Felldoh's hand placed itself on the hilt of his blade), "Tell nobody about your sword, least of all Lord Taharka. Cover the hilt as soon as possible, and do your best to hide the insignia from view. Nobody here must know you have it."

Felldoh was surprised by the man's ferocity, but something told him that the man was right. Felldoh nodded resolutely, and the old man took his leave.

The page returned a moment later and said, "Sir, you should go see Captain Julius, it is about your induction."

"Captain Julius?" Felldoh said quizzically.

The page nodded. "Yes sire, the commander you came with."

Felldoh nodded. If the black-armoured man, or Julius as he was apparently called, needed him, he would go. He took off after the page at once.

EDIT - Just because I want to progress to Julius on my terms ^_^

Felldoh ran to the lobby, where he had left the man apparently named Julius. Though Felldoh wasn't one for wandering, he had been far too intrigued by the castle not to go.

As he ran, he passed a maid with several cloths in her mopping bucket. Though he never would have done this under any other circumstance, the time was dire. Felldoh quickly grabbed a white cloth and continued running, taking out his sword and wrapping the insignia as he went.

Something about the old man bothered Felldoh. No matter what Felldoh did, his mind turned back to the period only minutes before, when the old man had told him to keep the Sword of Light's insignia covered. It was far too strange, especially because one so old, and seeming to be fiercely loyal as well, was cautioning Felldoh against his master.

A thought occured to Felldoh as he wrapped the hilt of the weapon, thinking back to the old man's request. It would look odd to have only one weapon covered, and it would seem as though he were hiding something. Therefore, Felldoh decided to tear the cloth in half, and wrap both hilts. It worked, and now his swords looked almost identical.

He skidded to a stop right in front of Julius, panting. "Sorry, mate, I was just looking around. What's th - "

Felldoh was interrupted by a messenger that came into the lobby. "Sires, we regret to inform you that Lord Taharka is unable to return. He is off on an extremely important property venture, and will be unable to return for a some weeks at the least."

Felldoh held back his sigh. He was neither relieved nor exasperated, but something told him that he would not want to meet this "Lord Taharka" with the Sword of Light.

Being the poor-directions person she was, Zeria had already gotten lost. She didn't know where she was in this place now, or if there was anyone to find that would speak with her and tell her where Julius was.

"Grr! I hate unfamiliar places!"

She really hoped at least a servant or someone would come help her...or if maybe Damian would follow her tracks here...

"What?!" Julius slammed his fist against the wall as he was informed of Taharka's sudden disappearance. Obviously this completely altered his plans regarding the acquisition of the other gems, specially the Shadow Gem that his heart yearn to obtain. After realizing that his "Gem of Punishment" was most likely known as the "Dragon's Tear" and in other cultures as "Moonlight's Touch", mostly for it's alignment to dark energies. After taking a deep breath, Julius calmed his fiery spirit and decided that it was time to search for Lord Taharka himself. As soon as he could, he sent orders to the Heavy Cavalry, an unit known as "The Dark Wind", the elite among the elite. Armed with heavy swords and spears and clad in iron armors, the "Dark Wind" unit was greatly feared. Whether or not Julius had the authorization to summon them, he would do it even against direct orders to pursue his own personal goals. Suddenly, after much thought, he realized that the manor was vulnerable with the lord being absent. He sent new orders to assemble the troops in front of the manor, and to set troops in every entrance of the town.

"Lord Taharka, I will not fail you again."

Julius told to himself as he walked towards the Lord's throne room. Just before entering, Julius turned to Felldoh-"Dark times are upon us. If you wish to leave I will understand. But please it would be great for us to have your skill in order to defend this town. Many families depend on us and we shall not fail them."-and without waiting for an answer, Julius turned towards the door and entered the Lord's Throne Room. He would await for his destiny there, unaware that his fated encounter is about to happen.

Vex stayed at the inn, appaled by the fact that a lesser being then him told him to flee. He even felt his rage boil as the soldiers and everyone else withdrew, he attempted to go after them but some force bounded him to his place. Vex droped his sword clutched in his hand as he feel to his knees in agnoy. Pain contorted all over his face as he brought he right hand to his head his left hand now on the floor to stop him from falling. Grunting and deeply breathing he let out a small muffled scream as he finally colapsed. Finally getting up and back to his feet Vex looked around the room, now a look of regret appeared over his face and remorse filled his eyes.

"Again I have fell victim to my rage." Taking notice that none of his comrades were to be seen he could only hope that he did not attack any of them. "I hope none of them saw what became of me." Leaping out of the window Vex took notice to the horse tracks left behing the group that attacked them, and Felldoh who went with. He knew it would take time though how much it was he knew not. After getting a stead from the stable of the town, he went back to following the trial for many of days. Resting when it was nessacary to close his eyes for a couple of hours he finall came upon a manor. "So this must be where he resides."

Walking up to the guards he stood before them, apparently they didn't expect them for when he adresses them and asked to be sent to the current person in charge they let him pass and told him to go straight through the hall and into the throne room. He did as he was instructed only to come face to face with the person that attacked him in the inn at the town, yet this time something seemed diffrent of him. So he decided to adress this man, "Am I to take it you are the man in charge of this manor."

"Hardly."

Felldoh stepped into the chamber. He positioned himself between Vex and Julius, knowing full well what may come of this.

Looking straight at Vex, he said, "No, this is Julius. Apparently, he is under the command of Lord Taharka." Felldoh narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Julius before continuing. "He doesn't seem like an enemy, mate. Julius is just...I don't know the word...Well, matey, he's been following the wrong side for both the right and wrong reasons."

With that, he positioned himself alongside Vex. He wished to try an experiment.

Taking the Sword of Light whose hilt he had wrapped, Felldoh lay the sword down, point at Julius. If his sword was the Sword of Light, Felldoh had the idea that it would react fiercely to the presence of Julius' jewel, no matter its origins. It was magic, after all.

Felldoh was not dissapointed. The sword itself seemed furious as it pulsed, attempting to abate whatever evil energies it may feel. Felldoh picked it up, somewhat satisfied. He knew that whatever evil energies it felt were from the gem, not Julius.

Next, he positioned himself alongside Julius, and placed the sword down again, this time with the point facing Vex. This time, the sword glowed brightly, but calmly. It was a slow pulse, deliberate and peaceful. Felldoh picked up the sword again and sheathed it, just as the old man he'd met before walked into the room.

He was holding a longbow, cocked, loaded, and pointed straight at Julius.

Felldoh knew what was going to happen. With a roar, he threw himself in front of Julius, to find the arrow protruding from his own shoulder.

Zeria heard a commotion and ran as fast as she could, racing until she found a throne room filled with people. Sure enough, everyone she was looking for was there. Felldoh, Vex, and Julius...but things were bad. Felldoh was hurt!

"What's going on here?!"

Her voice was panicked and worried. She even had her blades drawn in a nervous tension. This time, she yelled louder.

"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!"

Damian had found himself lost. He had followed Zeria after she had run off, but he had lost sight of her within moments. He followed the trails during the day, leaving the path at night for rest. He had often traveled alone, so he was used to the silence. But Zeria she too was left alone. A man of honor could never allow a lady to travel alone, so he kept moving forward in hopes of finding her.
On his third day of travel he heard the thump of a horse approaching at a rapid pace. He quickly dove into brush in case it was an enemy. He did not wish to fight today. As he peered out to see who it was he noticed that it was Vex riding by.
Damian jumped from his hiding spot.

"Vex! Vex wait!" he yelled, but Vex had already gone out or earshot.

Damian took off sprinting. He had to catch up.

Felldoh crashed to the ground, his left shoulder bleeding from the arrow that stuck out. He grunted, pulling himself up. He heard a girl shout, and he stole a glance at the speaker. It was the same woman whom he'd seen at the inn, lying on the bed.

His shoulder was pierced all the way through. The wooden shaft of the arrow stuck out of his front, while the barbed arrowhead could be seen sticking out beside his shoulderblade. He was lucky; he was pierced in the skin and muscle. This would be easier to pull out than if it had struck the bone; the arrowhead was barbed, and would not have yielded easily had it remained inside the body.

As it was, Felldoh pushed himself to his feet, using his right arm as a balance. His left hung limp at his side, and he winced whenever it twitched. He showed no other signs of the extreme agony, though, and put on a brave face, staring hard at the old man.

"What in hellfire was that for!? Felldoh roared.

"I must destroy the gem," the man said simply, knocking another arrow. "Get out of my way, Chosen One. I do not want to hurt you, it is the gem which I seek to destroy. The False Jewel must be destroyed for the Jewel of Light to prevail over the Jewel of Darkness."

Felldoh had no idea what the old man was talking about, and being called 'Chosen One' didn't improve his attitude. "Put the bow down, old one." Felldoh drew his sword. "I don't want to hurt you."

(Remember that you aren't supposed to recognize me Zeria)

Julius turned to meet face to face with this old man. This old man had attempted to murder him and was obviously not leaving without accomplishing that goal. Julius noticed Felldoh's wound, who had apparently shielded Julius with his own body. Strangely though, for some inexplicable reason, Julius did not react as a furious hellfire, instead he behaved arrogantly and defiantly when speaking.

"Ahh...so you wish to kill me. Such a fool..." Julius brought his right hand to his helm then he nodded seeming disappointed and annoyed. "Away with you, or do you wish to die a martyr and become an offering to my power?" Julius rose his left arm and closed his hand tightly, his hand now glowing with a reddish black aura. His eyes as well, were engulfed with the same darkness. The stone he possessed, now enraged by the presence of the power of the Gem of Light present within Vex, Felldoh and this old man, and the stone felt itself drawn to absorb their power. The malicious intent, emanating from within the old man and even if it was disguised by a lame excuse of destroying the stone, was beginning to serve as a power source for Julius' cursed power. Julius approached the old man, his eyes set on his opponent as he walked defiantly and menacingly. Julius soon opened his hand, the palm of his hand facing the old man. Julius soon reached the handle of his sword with his right hand and unsheathed his weapon as well as he kept his hand wide open holding a power waiting to be released at any second.

"Leave or become my stone's nourishment. Your darkness will feed my stone. Every heart, no matter how pure, has a minimal piece of the essences of the legendary gems, the Shadow Gem being one of them. While the Shadow Gem is not here, it's amazing power is, a fragment of it of course. Now will you leave?"

Felldoh saw the opportunity before him.

His head now throbbed, the blood pool on the ground far larger than it was a few seconds ago. His back was on fire, and it burned where the arrow stuck out. His arms were leaden, and his vision fading.

But, Felldoh remembered. He remembered his promise. And, with the memory of the promise came the memory of how he'd stopped Julius before. Felldoh's hand was like a steel clasp of iron as he fripped the Sword of Light.

The old man was backing away, though not frightened or threatened. He aimed his arrow at Julius, but caught the shake of Felldoh's head.

With a roar, and a burst of extreme pain, Felldoh whirled and cross-slashed at Julius' helm. His wound spurted blood as he cut through the air.

{>.< soz, Julius. I thought he had the helm off...i'll fix it in a sec}

Zeria came further into the room as the fighting began, sending a Cross Slash in between the fighters.

"What the hell is going on?! Tell me...NOW!"

Her eyes glimmered with anger, and flashed dangerously. She wanted answers, and she wanted them now. Who was the helmed knight? And who was the old man?

Julius side stepped to elude Felldoh's blade, the attack missing Julius' helm by mere inches. He lowered his left arm and the darkness emanating from his fist faded away as he set his eyes on Felldoh. "I can control it Felldoh, do not worry. This man has threatened to kill me, and I am only defending myself." Julius brought his sight to the old man, sheathing his blade in the process. "I should kill you here where you stand for this act of disrespect towards the captain of the imperial army. I am feeling quite merciful though and I feel I should give you a second chance. 5 seconds...I'll give you 5 seconds to leave. 5 seconds and then with a snap of my fingers, this place will be overrun with soldiers and you will soon imprisoned, set on trial and probably found guilty for insurrection."

He soon brought his attention to Zeria, but failed to recognize her. Her presence however, made Julius feel strange, as if somehow he knew this woman was linked to his past somehow. The power of the Stone of Punishment rested, feeling it was time to hide its presence from the power of the Gem of Light.

After seemingly presumed dead by Lord Kaos, Arthvader crawled his way towards the river, but fell helplessly to the strong tide of these savage waters. The course of the river, brought him to a nearby town (the town where Julius is at this moment). Fate smiling upon him, Arthvader was found by the same soldier that healed his wounds last time. The soldier had instructions of finding Arthvader's whereabouts and to bring news of his status, whether if he was dead or alive. The soldier called for aid and, along with a few soldiers, they carried Arthvader to the soldiers' chambers, brought to the healer's presence to have his wounds treated. Although he was in a very bad shape, the healer said that thanks to his physical endurance, Arthvader would survive. The treatment consisted of an infusion of mana energy, taken from the shards of the a magical stone. After he was healed, he was meant to be brought to Julius' presence.

(Now, his story continues)

Upon arriving at the manor, Arthvader was confronted by several guards at the castle.
"What is you purpose for coming here, stranger?" The guards asked as he arrived. "I was given permission to meet Julius." He replied to the guards.

"So, you're the one Julius wanted to meet. Then, follow us. We'll lead you to him." The guards responded as they began leading him into the throne room. Upon arriving at the door, the guar
ds began heading back towards the entrance. "Well, This is where we part. You see, We are not allowed to go in any further. You're on your own from here on." The guards said just before they left.

Now, with nothing but the door in his way, Arthvader went through the door, only to see what's has happened. He then shouted "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON HERE!!!"

"Ahh the new member of my unit has arrived, welcome back Arthvader." Julius said it calmly, he was pleased to see his plans running smoothly. " As you may see, I am quite busy dealing with some "unwanted" guests..." he said referring to the old man still aiming at him with an arrow. Julius was becoming impatient, he needed for the old man to reply to his demands or else he would be force to use "drastic" procedures. As he awaited, the power of his stone remained in a dormant state, and its energy could be easily confused with Julius' aura.

"Arth?!"

Zeria froze entirely and her jaw dropped. He'd gone and disappeared earlier, and left her all alone. How on earth had he gotten here now? She ran over to him, sheathing one blade.

"Arth, where've you been?! What happened to you?!"

Still, she wondered who this knight was...his voice seemed familiar, but still, she couldn't seem to figure it out. Just who was he?

'Guess coming in wasn't much of a good idea.' He thought as Zeria spotted him. By the looks of things, She was worried about what had happened to Arthvader. He then went ahead and responded to Zeria's question. "It's a long story, Zeria. I'll explain it some other time. Now, if you excuse me. I have some buisness to deal with."

Arthvader then walked towards Julius, who is currently the apparent target of an old man. "Listen, old man, tell me, what is your purpose for attacking him? (I just can't afford to let Zeria know just yet.) And also, it seems that you quite a bit about these gems. Just who are you anyways?" Arthvader said just as he took his sword out in preperations to attack.

Felldoh grunted as he fell to the floor. His left shoulder hit the floor with a sickening thud, and the arrow snapped from the impact. The pain was so intense that Felldoh almost threw up.

He managed to push himself up on his right arm, staring hard at Julius. "Well, don't attack then. Look, just don't kill him. There's things that he knows...keep him alive."

Felldoh's head hit the ground as his arm collapsed. He lost consciousness almost instantly, the pain from his shoulder overtaking him.

Zeria gasped and ran forward, straight to Felldoh.

"Hey! Felldoh! Say something!"

She shook him a few times, then frowned, taking out some bandages. She wouldn't be able to do much right now, but she could at least bandage up his wound and stop the bleeding......when she finished, she stood up, re-drawing her blades and glaring intensely at the old man.

"You hurt an innocent being with no true reason......now I'll do the same to you...."

She advanced....

Vex watched as Arthvader walked over to the man clad in armor. His own rage rising seeing as Felldoh collasped and this act of betrayal from Arthvader. He felt his own mind sliping away and began falling to his knees once again, but almost as to try and force back the darkness the Holy Gem imbedded in his sword began to pulse and grow brighter. As it pulsed faster it seemed to want to rid Vex of his anger, and in response Vex rose to his feet and let out a deep sigh of relief. Holding his sword up across from him and then steping inbetween the man and Julius and Arthvader, he spoke only two words while looking at the gem, "Thank you."

Then as he brought his sword to a more defensive stance he galred at Julius arthvader. First pointing his sword at Julius he spoke, "I will not let you harm this innocent, he may have very well have attacked you out of fear. That stone that you wear and claim to be a fragment of the Dark gem, it emits an evil power. That man feared it most likely and attacked it's source. You have no reason to try and kill him for it."

Then pointing it at Arthvader his voice grew slightly colder with a hint of venom. "As for you traitor, you decide to show your true colors now. You draw your sword at a defensless old man, what kind of coward does such a thing. Should you proceded to attack him be prepared to consider me your enemy. I will not let you bring harm to him."

Once again resuming his defensive stance sword held in his right hand and blade held across him, with his left hand inches away from the blade and almost cupping it. He spoke only once more, "If either of you decide to bring harm to him, come doing so in knowing it is me you will face instead of killing him. This man is innocent and knows something of these ancient relics, so I will not let you harm him."
